Christmas and Thanksgiving is a time of year when a vast majority of people are happy and/or festive, I am one of those people. Many families have traditions around the Holidays meaning something they do every year some go pick out a tree others hang stockings, however my family is different. In my household, we don’t go pick out a tree, guess you could say we are lazy but what we do is decorate every year. We do it at roughly the same time every year (Dec 12th) to make sure we all get the day off, I find this particular activity really enjoyable because it’s one of the only times my entire family is together in one place and not working or sleeping. Although decorating is a blast I find the White Elephant game one of my favorite holiday
Christmas like Thanksgiving believe it or not, do happen to share many traits. One major factor that the two own is the warmth and love of bringing family and close friends together. It’s the few times a year that everyone has a reason to all gather around to
The family has this tradition schedule that just might break me. They love to burning hot food that fall on the floor and it feels like a person putting their in a fire. Then they have so many dogs that like to pee in the house and it's disgusting. The kids like to paint and color
Waking up early on Christmas was always a thing my brothers and I did when we were younger. What made those moments so special was all the decorating we did in the week before. Decorating the Christmas tree was always one of my favorites. Seeing the same ornaments year after year never got old for me. I remember stringing out the tangled lights we used for the outside of the house all throughout the yard. I would hand my brothers a string of lights as he stood on the ladder supported by the house. I always enjoyed putting up the little snowman and gingerbread houses throughout my living room. As you get older all the decorating and family time seems to decline, so spending time with family on holidays were always
How different are our Thanksgivings really? How many people do you know that do things differently than you for Thanksgiving? Thanksgiving is a time where you get your whole family together and spend time with each other. During your time together, you reminisce about hilariously weird memories and laugh at all of the amazingly fun times you guys have had together. Also, you feast and make more memories that you will have with you forever! When your with whoever’s house you go to, you get to be you and not worry about what anyone thinks because you know your family loves you the way you are.
My family has many traditions one of them is to make tamales on Christmas Eve so they are ready for Christmas Day. My family stays up on Christmas Eve and we stay up all night till the clock hits 12:00, that is when we start opening presents. Later on we go to sleep/take a nap and wake up so we can do El Nacimiento de Dios. El Nacimiento de Dios is when our family gathers around the setting of where Jesus was born and "we see his birth". We usually do a posada which is huge dinner with many types of Mexican foods like tamales, posole, rice, beans, etc. Each year my grandma, grandma, uncle, aunt, and some cousins come for Christmas from Mexico and we have a family gathering where we meet our family members in which we have not seen for a long
People celebrate their Thanksgivings different or the same as I do. Even the food you eat could be the same or different. So some similarities with me and Jack for Thanksgiving are, we both watch football and hang out with our family. We also play family games too, like twister and hide and seek. Some differences that we have are that Jack eats different food than I do.
The Thanksgiving and the Yuletide seasons are two of the top holidays where Americans get to meet their friends and relatives and share a moment or two over meals like turkey and pastries. As far as they were concerned, they do not seek to talk about politics since the seasons are all about enjoying each others company.
Everyone has a favorite holiday, mine happens to be christmas. Christmas is not just fun and games, it has a lot of history behind it. For example, traditions, Christmas around the world, and Christmas in the past.
Firstly, decorating during thanksgiving for christmas in my perspective is not right. It also breaks tradition, so why do all this now. I researched a article about this and carla caldwell (author of article) found out that 10% decorate before november, 17% decorate in mid november, 19% decorate in the week of thanksgiving, and 25% decorate after the week of thanksgiving. This means 87% percent of americans decorate for christmas before its even here. Its also happening all round us in stores. carla caldwell stated “The weekend after thanksgiving has become synonymous with when the black friday through the cyber monday deals started. Holiday shopping trend like these in addition to the timing of
Since the holidays are getting closer what better movie to talk about than a movie about love and Christmas. The Holiday is a romantic comedy starring Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet, who play two women who are both suffering romantic disappointments and meet online on a website that helps people find the perfect vacation spot and exchange homes for two weeks. Both Iris (Winslet) who lives in a peaceful little town outside of London and Amanda (Diaz) who lives in crazy Los Angeles, decide to swap homes in order to vacate their lives for the holidays. At first, things are bit chaotic because they are trying to adjust to the culture change, but soon become acquainted with their surroundings. As they escape life they are open to many unexpected experiences that lead to what they have been running from… Love.
While you’ll undoubtedly want to keep a few traditions going, it’s a good idea to mix in a few new ones. Plan activities with friends and family members to spice up your holiday routine.
Another tradition that we have is the weekend after halloween we always put up are christmas decoration. We do the tree last on the inside
Many families have traditions that they do every year and many families don't. Other families don't have traditions to do for a holiday or even on a day. My family is one of the families that have dozens of family traditions. We have traditions in almost every single holiday. We have traditions in Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving. Some of our family traditions aren't even on a holiday some are on days of the week. My favorite family tradition I love the most to do with my family is during Thanksgiving. My family and I enjoy Thanksgiving a lot out of all the traditions we do every year. I always have fun spending time with my family during this time of year. One of the favorite family traditions my family does is around Thanksgiving. The day before Thanksgiving we all help out in the kitchen and make dinner. Every Thanksgiving we have it's either at my Grandma's house or our house. My Grandma always makes the pies the bread and the greens. I remember last year my Grandma didn't finish making the greens, we almost got sick but my aunt Alisha fixed them Before we could get sick. My mom and I season and make the Turkey while My Aunt Alisha makes the yams. The yams are really good at making yams they are amazing. While we are cooking in the kitchen my sisters play some music so we don't get bored in the kitchen.Meanwhile,e my little brother is outside with the younger kids playing basketball and other games. My Uncle Randy goes out and gets plastic plates and
I think Christmas has always been one of my favorite holidays. Maybe because of the special atmosphere that you can feel everywhere, in shops, restaurants , pubs and even streets, where you can hear the magical carols, or maybe it's because of its religious background, but what I can tell you for sure is that I can't think of anything more exciting than the image of the entire family preparing the Christmas Tree or fixing the Christmas dishes.
Unfortunately, putting up the Christmas tree has never been a joyful experience in our family. When the boys were young, we tromped through the woods to cut the obligatory Charlie Brown spindly pine or the lopsided cedar tree. When it came to paying for a live Christmas tree, my husband quickly vetoed that idea every year. So we had settled on artificial Christmas trees as the years went by, “fake” trees that with only a little effort from the boys to drag down from the attic, I could handle myself. I had bought our latest tree a few years ago at a thrift store and had actually been pleased with the way it assumed its honored spot near the front window in our den. But I knew that the only way the tree could adorn that special spot in our house with the awe and majesty of the season was if I did the work to make it beautiful. And truthfully, I just wasn’t in the mood.
