Though Mary Rowlandson and Olaudah Equiano shared similarities in experiences, they had different writing personalities, purposes, attitudes, tones, and relations with their communities.

In The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald focuses on Daisy Buchanan’s relationship with Tom Buchanan and Jay Gatsby. Tom and Gatsby both love Daisy in different ways, but the fact that they both want Daisy as their own makes them similar. Both Tom and Gatsby share many similarities while having even a greater amount of differences. While differences are good, they sometimes lead to unhappiness, jealousy, and grief.

In F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby, Gatsby is a man who can be compared to Holden Caulfield from J.D Salinger’s Catcher in the Rye. Jay Gatsby and Holden Caulfield are both caught up in their unattainable dreams and first love and as a result struggle with an obsession of their past.

Both of Fitzgerald and Gatsby are the out-dated man of their times. Fitzgerald earns his reputation as a novelist, while Gatsby is ambitious and later became rich as a bootlegger. They meet their beloved girl and win them in the similar way. Also, they have the tragic end finally in the similar way.

Survival is living on the hope that better things are yet to come in your life. Right now in our country people survive because of hope and the belief that people are good and they will help them out. People survive when they are homeless on the streets only because of the people who are good at heart and give them food or money to buy clothing for the winter. Gerta survived because of her family and friends. Anne Frank survived because she believed that “Despite all the evil going on in the world I still believe that all people are good at heart.”

Scott Fitzgerald and John Steinbeck have characters in their books who stay humble throughout the book. In The Great Gatsby, you learn about Nick Carraway, who seeks out to learn more about the mysterious Jay Gatsby. In Of Mice and Men, you learn about George Milton and Lennie Smalls, two characters who stick together and always look after eachother, even though Lennie always causes them to be in a predicament due to his curiosity. Both books have a character who always stays humble throughout the book. Nick Carraway in The Great Gatsby and Slim in Of Mice and Men. Everyone goes to these characters whenever they have a problem because of how approachable and humble they are. By being a more humble person in the real world, you become a more respectable, approachable person. Just Like Nick Carraway and Slim.

Everyone has a dream that they want to achieve. The goal in life is to find something valuable to achieve. Many people immigrated to America for a second chance in life. The American dream is a goal someone wants to achieve in America. F. The Great Gatsby is a story about a guy named Nick from the Midwest moving to New York for a job in the stock market. He finds many friends along the way, including Gatsby. Nick lived next door to Gatsby’s mansion. Gatsby used this mansion to try to marry a girl he loved named Daisy. In the end, Gatsby did not get married to Daisy. Of Mice and Men takes place during the great depression, which makes it hard for people to get work and earn money. The story is about two men in California who have a dream of having their own ranch. George and Lennie get a job at a ranch where they buck barley. They made friends with an old man named Candy, who wanted to help them buy a ranch house. Lennie had a mental disorder, which makes it hard for him to understand. He accidentally killed a lady because of mental disorder. In the end, Lennie was shot by George and he was not able to live on his own ranch. These two books are similar because characters from both books want to achieve their American dream. Although they did have their American dream, it was difficult for them to achieve it. F. In both books, women have a status lower than men. Daisy, Jordan, Myrtle and Curley’s wife are seen as inferior, most likely due to society’s view of women during the time periods. In The Great Gatsby and in Of Mice and Men, the American Dream is often put aside, seen through the actions of women characters.

We are going to start with Gary Paulsen. He is a street kid, who lives on his own. He works with a few other people at a bowling alley. Gary often gets attacked by a group of thugs lead by a boy named Happy. They often try to steal the money that Gary earns by working hard at the bowling alley. The street-boy hardly managed to get through it until he met Dirk-but more to that later. Paulsen is a very hardworking boy, and he seems to be a survivor, since he managed to live with Happy and his thugs attacking him all these months. Based on the fact that he lives

There have been many people who have survived through tragic accidents and difficult predicaments in our world. People can go far in staying alive and living day by day by surviving both physically and mentally. Physical survival, is like an instinct we have in us. For example, the U.S. Army goes all the other countries where people are getting killed and terrorized by bad people. The major key that they are doing during shootouts, gunfights, is mainly surviving physically like how they defend themselves and how they are saving lives practically every day.

Survival is being able to endure and live through challenges that may wear you down (mentally or physically), and there are several ways of showing survival. “The Story of Keesh,” by Jack London, depicts survival through a harsh setting. “The Five People You Meet In Heaven,” by Mitch Albom, depicts survival through character development.
