This year’s Greenport & Southold combined show is a series of nine different love stories that take place in the town of Almost, Maine. The nine various stories included in the show all happen simultaneously and are “almost” moments that often end in odd places. These scenes do not conclude in perfect little happy endings, on the contrary, they end in cliff-hangers and leave the audience with a feeling of suspense. The characters in this show are each facing their own obstacles and have very diverse personalities. Trust me when I say none of them are boring people, but they are just people facing very difficult, sometimes strange situations. Almost, Maine is different from anything our drama club has ever done before, because there are no
When people first start reading a book there is one burning question: "What is this story about?" It’s a heavy question, especially for a fiction novel with so many fabricated details. You can fix this by saying a story is all about decisions. Of course, there are other themes, but the entire story is connected by the questions characters ask themselves and the outcome of their own answers. We can think about how this mimics real life. How every day we are forced to consider life's chance situations; some casual, some pressing, but all of them impacting our final growth as people and those around us to some degree. A good example of this is when in the book "The Outsiders", our protagonist Jonny decided to kill Bob in self-defense, this resulted in Jonny and Ponyboy going on the run. The decisions, the choices, that were made by Jonny change the course of his and his cohort's entire lives in an instant--directing the whole final tale and story outcome.
The story also lets you know that they don’t have to live the way that they are. George and Lisa had their life set up to where everything was done for them. Once they realized that
This makes it to where the only problem to the main characters is this mysterious man, and they also make jokes about it. It’s almost as if no serious problem is happening, and it’s just a bunch of kids playing around.
They are two places that had a great impact on my life and molded me to become the person I am today. Those places are West Hempstead, NY where me and my family live now and the other is Rosedale,Ny where I lived until the age of 13. West Hempstead and Rosedale are both well known towns in New York. They are both in the region of Long Island. Even though both towns are in the state New York and only are 20 minutes away from each other these two towns are extremely different from the residents, cost of living, and safeness.
The author’s goal is to get the characters to come to life and reach out to the reader so they learn important life lessons through the characters. The main character Kyle learns something that is so realistic, that people can say that they relate to what he is going through.
It shows everything from an interracial couple, drugs, alcoholism, gang issues , absent parents, as well as any difficult situation that can be thrown at the characters. The
Another unique aspect about this show is that many shows cover controversial issues. However this one covered numerous issues while most plays stick to one or two .And unlike many fictional plays the ending was not resolved but it states that problems are only temporary. In my opinion this show's purpose was to ease tension on topics like sexuality and racism and make it become a normal household
In this situational comedy, all of things that happen appeal to something that everyone can relate to. Between the bumps of being a parent, and the crazy dating life of everyone, there is always something that you can relate to. This show has a charming factor to it that reals you in for every second of the
Dan Fogelman understood the importance of strong, relatable characters within a series. His program revolves around four people that share the same birthday, and gradually reveals the connection between these seemingly four strangers. Many people can instantly establish a connection with Jack, an easy-going family-man that loves his wife, Rebecca, and is expecting triplets any day. Another layer of depth and relatability is added to his character, and his wife’s, when she begins to experience birth complications, striking something in anyone that has dealt with the fear of losing a loved one or had to learn to cope with losing a child. The next character to be introduced is Kate, who though is funny and sweet, battles obesity and
Each character morphs in my head and it makes the story easier to read. It plays out just like an episode would
Would it be because of the ongoing death or the vicious revenge that the characters have towards their enemies or maybe the love that is shared between the main characters? Now everyone is different and their reason for coming back to a television show or short story will be different. For example, if a person does not like a story or television show that revolves around the idea of death, because they think it is to goory or gruesome, then they will most likely stay away from not only that show, but shows alike. In contrast, the same idea can fall under anything, like a rollercoaster ride or scary movie. It is a known fact that if a person is scared of something or does not like it, than they will stay away.
This is by far the most striking aspect of Happy Endings, and even if her opinion goes unnoticed, one can not ignore the framework of this story. There are no paragraphs. There is no beginning, middle end. There is no grand introduction or stunning finale. The lack of form in this work stems from the lack of structure and depth of romantic fiction. Atwood feels this type of writing lacks emotion and conviction and can be easily thrown together and kept together by a few clichés and stereotypes. A hodgepodge of cheesy ideas that are malleable and easily interchangeable. She shakes things up by not organizing the text in sequential order, and events are not connected or presented in a straightforward, chronological order. This is a short story that lacks all the common characteristics of a short story.
All of the characters presented in the movie have a distinct personality, making the viewer engage deeply in the heart pumping action and drama.
In the art of storytelling, the artist tends to rely on a specific pattern of story development. This pattern, as we have seen in the numerous literary examples that we have read so far, naturally conforms to a rigid framework—one that we, as humans, repeatedly desire. This framework was described by Dan Harmon as “the story circle”, and mirrors the cyclical nature of our conscious perceptive capabilities, as well as our understanding of the universe surrounding us. The story circle identifies (from the perspective of the character or characters we primarily identify with) a submersion and re-emergence in some manner, whether journeying physically or
The main reason that this book has an excellent storyline is because of the process and description of each story event. Dare to disappoint really fascinated and mesmerised the audience by capturing the audience’s attention into the most meaningful things. The reason that the story of the author’s life is able to fit in a limited amount of pages is that the author only wrote out the main event that affected her life immensely. This made the story deliver a very straight forward and meaningful storyline. For example, the author would put in interesting events from every one of her grades. This book also has a good storyline because of the different decision the main character had to make. The author wrote the story on how Özge developed in the different kinds situations. This made her choose her different paths in every critical climax in the story. For example, after getting in trouble many times at the prestigious school, Özge decided to go to a public school and ended up getting into a university. These decision making made the story develop much
