The Lexington and Concord was the first battle between the British and Colonists. This battle started with a single shot called the “shot heard round the world”, but what led to this battle? Many things led up to this battle. After America was found the British wanted to settle there, and some people went because they did not like the king and his rules, so some of this anger we see in the Revolutionary War was already there. Another thing that angered the colonists was when Britain forced them to stop their expansion west, but the thing that angered them the most were the taxes that were placed on the colonists. There were also laws that the colonists that violated their

On an “unremarkably clear and pleasant” day in April 19, 1775, the shot that was said to had been able to be heard around the world was fired. (A Guide to Battles) This began the battles in which we know as Lexington and Concord, and the war we know as the Glorious/American revolution. It was fought between the British whom had feared American retaliation for some time, and the American Colonies whom were tired of feeling oppressed by the British. General Thomas Gage advised his British superiors to prepare for war, but this advice was refused and when the time finally came, they were not prepared for the fight at hand. (History of AM Rev) Many events, rules, and regulations helped to lead up to the retaliation of the Americans.

The Battle of Gettysburg was a short lived battle with tremendously tragic amounts of bloodshed and casualties. The physical battle, lasting the short span from July 1st to July 3rd 1863, is considered by many, the most significant and important battle of the American Civil War. Unfortunately what many consider the most significant battle of the American War was also indeed the bloodiest battle fought on American soil. Confidence can be to blame for the outset of this battle and how it began. In May of 1863, the Confederate army leader, Robert E. Lee was fortunate enough in Chancellorsville, Virginia when he and his army claimed the victory against the Army of the Potomac. Lee experienced a high of confidence from the victory, which ultimately

Though it has been called a battle, it was more of a skirmish. It happened on April 19th the year 1775 in Middlesex Country, province of Massachusetts Bay during the American Revolution. The British were marching to Concord because of the arms depot of the Americans. The Americans were out-numbered, out-gunned, and not as well trained at the British soldiers. On the side of the road there were 40 to 100 speculators of this event. When the British arrived one of the officers rode forward waving his sword and called out to the militia to disperse and go home, as well as telling them “Lay down your arms, you damned rebels!” But the Americans did not lay down their arms so the British commander Major John Pitcairn told his men to hold fire as did the Americans leader, Captain John Parker, who was a veteran from the French and Indian War (1754-1763). But, a shot was fired from an unknown source. By the end of the fight eight militia men lay
