After watching the movie, Get a Clue!, and reading the book, The Westing Game, I believe that the book was a lot more entertaining and easier to understand. Although both the movie and book had similar plots, they were very, very diverse. The movie made many changes to the story, including writing it in Turtle’s point of view, and changing the characters’ personalities. It made the movie hard to follow. The movie and the book had one main thing in common; the plot. They are both about heirs coming to Sunset Towers to figure out who murdered Sam Westing for millions of dollars. The heirs are split up into pairs, and are given clues to play Mr. Westing’s game. Both the movie and the book have similar pairs, but each pair connects differently.
The book of the Westing Game is all about mystery and drama. As you read the book at first it is confusing to tell who is who but as you read on it becomes clearer and you start to get addicted to reading it. Once you finish the book usually you’d watch the movie. Once you watch the movie it is clear that you can tell what the differences are between the book and the movie. First and foremost you can see that there aren’t as many characters as there is in the book. The lack of characters made it confusing to tell who the partners were. Not only, did the pairs get switched up but and there was also a change in personality in some of the characters including Chris.
In the book, The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin, the conclusion is what summarized the plot of the book. Knowing this, one might agree the way the ending was written was very effective. The owner of the Westing Paper Products Company, Sam Westing, was murdered. Sixteen people are called to Sunset Towers to participate in the reading of the will. Little did they know that the will was only going to unleash the monster in them all. The will of Sam Westing went on to say that one of the sixteen people in the room was a murderer, the same murderer that ended his life. Everyone would be paired into teams. Clues were spread out among the pairs-of-two and the game began. 200 million dollars was offered to the person who uncovered the secrets to
Some similarities are, one, the characters are the same. Winnie foster,in the movie and the book still kept her same name, her feelings about wanting to leave. In the book on page 13 it says , “Winnie Foster sat on the bristly grass just outside the fence” showing that her name is the same. Another similarity is, Mae Tuck hits the man in the yellow over the head with the rifle. In the movie it shows Mae Tuck hitting the man in the yellow suit
The novel and the movie were both very suspenseful. The main characters are both the same in the book and in the movie but are a little bit different then their counter partners in the novel/movie. In both the movie and
There are many of the same people like Turtle, Angela, Grace, Hoo, Otis Amber, and Berthe Erica Crow. Also the money is both in the 2’s of millions like 20 and 200. Mr. Hoo still owns a Chinese restaurant that does very poorly. Also Berthe Erica Crow is still partnered with Otis Amber, and they still own the Good Salvation Soup Kitchen. As always Turtle still wins the Westing Game. That’s just a small list of what the similarities are between the book and movie.
Both share the same plot, and there are very little differences between the two. These are a few of the differences that I was able to notice between the book and the movie. There are several others throughout the story, but they are all just as minute and in the end they have no effect on the outcome of the story. Overall, I was very impressed with the movie and it was very true to the book. I have seen my share of movies that were adaptations from books that did not do the book justice, but this one is almost exactly like the book, so it was very
The movie, “Get a Clue” based on the book, The Westing Game is very diverse from its original storyline. From minor differences being Violet Westing’s death to huge differences being the two very different titles. The book is named The Westing Game and the Movie is named “Get a Clue”. The following paragraphs are examples of how different the book and the movie are from each other.
Both the novel and the film share indistinguishable qualities. For example,They both have the same places as the novel. There were the DX,Tasty Freeze, the lot,the church, and the characters houses.Since they had the same places the same things happened. They have the same places so,they have the same scenes. However, they seem identical, they have a lot of differences.
The novel is about 16 heirs trying to figure out who killed Sam Westing. With clues each pair got $10,000. As the pairs look for answers to their clues they have to be careful for what they get in the future of The Westing Game. There are only ten characters in the movie compared to sixteen characters in the book. As they also are looking
The biggest similarity between the book, and the movie is the theme. The theme in both the book, and the
The novel and the movie share many similarities. The book and the novel share the same problems. A example johnny and pony run away since johnny killed bob.In both johnny gets injured badly and dies.
The movie and book have a few similar qualities. One similarity is they both tell/show that Dallas (dally) gets shot down by the police. After Dally robs a store the police shoot him. Another similarity is the little kid bites Pony. When Pony is helping save the little kids from inside the burning church, one kid bites Ponyboy’s finger. With as much as we know the similarities lets move on to the differences.
The Westing Game starts out with the delivery of six letters signed by Barney Northrup, to six different households on the Fourth of July. The letters offer a once in a lifetime chance to rent an apartment at the new and luxurious Sunset Towers, located on the shores of Lake Michigan. However, in the movie, Sunset Towers was located in the city. In the book, Sunset Towers was built mostly of glass and stood five stories high. Noticed in both the book and movie, Sunset Towers oddly faces east instead of west where the sun actually sets. In both the movie and the book, Barney Northrup manages to rent all the apartments out to the six hand selected households, which includes the Wexler family, the Theodorakis family, the Hoo family,
The novel and the movie are very different,in a unique way. The book is a story where there are 16 heirs and they all tell their own part of the story. The movie only has 10 heirs and Turtle is telling everyone who each heir is. Even though the book and the movie have many differences there are even more similarities.
