Most sports require one to be in shape; however, not in all cases. Paintball is one of the exceptions. Compared to the sport of football or soccer, where it takes years to become professional, amateurs can play recreationally without much training because the sport of paintball is relatively easy to understand. There are various versions of paintball; however, the basic objective underlies shooting each player of the opposing team using a marking device, much like the concept of laser tag. Although constantly training is advantageous in the sport of paintball, it is not necessary to be fit. One can simply sit at the starting base while supporting one’s team by communicating with them. Because of this, those who are disabled, out of shape, or …show more content…
This all intrigued me, therefore, I decided to dig deeper on how to become an excellent paintball player by narrowing it down to fundamental skills, strategies and tactics, and equipment choices. I was originally interested in paintball because my brother attended several paintball tournaments both locally and nationally and I thought that the opportunity to travel to these events was incredible. I found this sport significant because it has the ability to bring me once in a lifetime opportunities as well as overall health and fitness maintenance with an athletic hobby. I liked to believe paintball was not only a competitive sport, but also a source for survival tactics. I have been playing for the last three years and I was able to accumulate enough experience to know what to do and what not to. However, I questioned how I could enhance myself each time I set foot on the field. These questions include: how can I improve my aim? What can I do to lessen common errors during my performance? …show more content…
Bunkers are positions that shield one from the opposing team’s fire. The most common name for bunkers in the shape of a triangular prism is Dorito. Dorito bunkers are typically lined up on one side of the field whereas a stream of very low bunkers is lined up on the other side of the field, which is referred to as snake. Each Dorito and snake bunker has notches in which each time an opponent physically moves up a notch towards one’s team, a number follows that specific notch. Examples of these call-outs are “Dorito two” and “snake one.” Typically, a field has six big bunkers placed at the left and right corners as well as at the back middle on each side of the field. These are sometimes called Alpha, Bravo, Charlie when naming them left to right. The last primarily known position is called Center 50 in which there is an opponent directly in the center of the field who has the ability to be a threat. Although there are many other bunkers scattered haphazardly throughout the field, they do not have a commonly used bunker name. Other terms include snap shooting (which was mentioned previously), laning/lane, bunkering, and run-and-gun. Laning is when a player shoots a constant stream of paintballs in the direction of an opponent to hit the player when he or she moves to another position. Additionally, this stream of paintballs prevents the opposing player from advancing to a different area of
Sport’s are an aspect of life that affect societies across the globe. Athletics affect everyone's life, whether that be playing the sport, watching games, or hearing about a sporting event. There is a big difference between playing an individual sport and players relying on their own athletic abilities versus a team sport when members of the team rely on their teammates to complete each individual's specific responsibility to reach the team's goal. Team sports bring people together in countless ways, and they teach many life skills for the athletes that participate in them. Some of these skills include communication, teamwork, discipline, work ethic, dedication, leadership, and numerous more that will help them in their personal and work
It is often said that “practice makes perfect”, but what kids participating in competitive sports find out is that “Perfect practice makes perfect” (Three quotes). Hard work pays off and repetition builds skills. Practice may not be everyone’s favorite part of a sport, but doing something over and over again will make it become an instinct. Regardless of the type of sport that is played, there are some basic fundamentals that are learned and then practiced repeatedly. With each practice, athletes can gain more confidence in their ability (Kuchenbecker 37). Repetitions enable the players to develop skills and become more confident that they can perform when the time comes rather than being worried about failure. The level of discipline and focus developed by these kids helps them throughout their lives in a wide variety of ways.

Sports are a popular pastime among all ages and types of people. People not only participate in them for fun, but also for money, physical fitness, rush of competition, and for many other personal reasons. Playing sports is especially common among young people in schools. Athletics are great and enjoyable for many reasons, but there can be a point where sports participation can go too far and become negative for children and adults. Sports specialization for young people is an increasing trend that results in sports having a negative impact on individuals and society.
One thing almost every young child looks forward to is the activity of play. Kids love nothing more than to go outside, run around with friends, and get dirty. If children are already active at a young age, why not encourage them to continue by enrolling them in an organized youth sport program? Young people will gain many positive experiences by participating in organized physical activities, but none as important and influential as the social skills, physical skills, and mental skills developed and nurtured during their time in youth sport. As a result, the young participants can continue to build upon and cultivate these skills which will ultimately be transferred into their development as successful adults. Along with the social and
However, Taylor’s appeals to ethos are often strong but not entirely consistent. He holds fun, competition, physical fitness, collaboration and mental challenge as values. He also seeks to address certain criticisms, the two which he claims that opponents of their position commonly site. These are possible gangers and violence of the sport. For the safety issue, Taylor gives strong examples of why paintball can be very safe. However, they stop thinking straight when
When most kids play for typical leagues whether they are fun leagues or competitive leagues injuries can happen. The injury rate is slightly higher then children with sedentary lifestyles. Children subconsciously about fitness in a fun manner. Active kids typically remain active throughout their life
Sports are not for everybody, not only because of talent level, but because a certain mindset is to be had to be successful at any sport. A commitment is made. Forty hours of practice a week, the average amount of time spent practicing for football players, all for a one hour game, the average time of one game of college football, takes dedication. That is not even counting the time spent icing, resting, and studying the playbook or film, not to mention the school work to be kept up with for college and high school students. Most athletes have become used to the grind and juggling three or four time consuming activities all at one time while being successful at each. Waking up at the break of dawn, following a schedule, and suffering consequences when a bad choice is made creates character and discipline that is often needed for many little league, high school, and college athletes. The most important non tangible thing sports teach anyone is how to get back up after falling, how to get knocked down but get right back up and keep going, how to move on from failure and overcome it, focusing on the next important part of life. These skills of determination and courage taught through sports are essential for being successful in any part of life and are hard to come by anywhere
People accuse me of being competitive, as if this is bad quality. While it is true, in the generic sense of the word, but to me the only competition that matters is my own performance compared to my past performance while on the line with outstanding shooters. Competition energizes me to improve.
Similarly, you should always have a good attitude. Having a good attitude leads to making better shots. It also leads to having confidence
I gained more confidence with each practice as my talent slowly shines through. I practiced throwing, catching, running, and sliding. Over time, practice became second nature while simultaneously my accuracy started to improve. As I was practicing with my mom and sister outside at home I was doing better than I was at the ball field. I guess it was because I was just nervous at the ball field

Next comes your approach and where on the lane you stand. Then comes your swing and follow through. And finally your release of the ball on the lane.
There are many skills that I have to practice to become an expert basketball player. Starting today, I could obtain a basketball and start to dribble with one hand initially until I can master the ability to dribble high and low. Subsequently, I could train to do the same with my other hand, so I can become an ambidextrous dribbler to help move the ball forward in an actual game. Later, I could go to a basketball court to practice my shooting skills. First, I shoot the basketball with proper form three feet from the basket until I make 5-10 shots in a row. Then, I could take two steps back and repeat until I reach the three
