Thousands of bands in the world today are playing different genres ranging from hip-hop to country, from rap to contemporary. All of these groups have a passion for what they do and for their certain purpose. What are all these bands purposes? The main reasons people play the music they do are different for many. Some play because they love music, some for the crowds, but some play for an even greater purpose. Two of these artists are Shai Linne and Toby Mac. Though the different styles, content, and audiences, both of these artists sing for the same reason that is to honor and glorify the one true King.
The styles of these musicians are one of their biggest differences. Shai Linne is a semi-unpopular Christian rapper. Most Christian rappers
As has been said many times over, songs are a reflection of society. They give insight into feelings, moods, historical changes, and the overall atmosphere of the society. Our American society is diverse and so too is our music. There are many genres of music and there were many evolutions to create those genres. Further, what happens in society, the historical changes, also effect those changes.
The listener takes in the words of a song and directly relates them to the singer, trying to come up with meaning purpose that the singer could have for performing the song, rather than just accepting a contract. It is difficult to accept that one is singing a song merely to sing, as listeners we “make assumptions about the appropriateness of the relationship between singers and songs” (Bicknell, 262). As audience members, by making these assumptions we create the persona for an individual and expect them to follow through as if the persona we know of them is true. The persona is built off not only what they sing and the portrayal of themselves, but also completely arbitrary things like race and gender, these things should not have much of an impact on who a person is, but the traits become magnified when addressing a public persona. Singing can be compared to acting in such that “the public persona is like the constraints of the role of an actor” (Bicknell, 267). Regarding this comparison an actor must take on a role of a certain character, despite not actually being connected to a character in any way. Though it may be the case that certain
For as long as mankind has walked on this earth, music has been an important part of our culture and lifestyles. Each walk of life beats to a different drum. Different cultures use music for many aspects of their lives; for religious purposes, for celebrations, for comfort, for sorrow, for relaxation, for sports, for dances, for energy, for learning, for sleeping, and for sexual experiences. Everyone uses music for something. Music connects with people and reaches them in ways that words simply cannot. Music is a representation of what feelings sound like. It expresses emotion and brings that characteristic out from within us; it tells us a story. Every generation has its’ own sound and different music styles have emerged and become
Music is a way to express ideas, passions, a well as experiences. It can be used to convey a message or raise awareness. However, a majority of music today brings deeper meaning to songs when they are heard and felt, and not seen visually. Music can also be used both lyrically and audibly to create a storyline. In this case, the band Phish portrays the storyline of the Tragedy of Macbeth. In the band's song, "Maze", they create Macbeth's tragic downfall through their tone, tempo, and lyrics.
What is the purpose of music in society? Foremost, in layman terms, music is just sounds. However, individuals then use these sounds as a medium in order to spread certain ideas and emotions across society. Naturally over time different types of music become associated with different communities; thus, this identification creates an overgeneralized interpretation of who these communities are and what they stand for. One prime example is the stereotype that jazz and swing was the music of the African Americans in 20th century Los Angeles. Even though it may be true, the stereotype does not give an answer as to why or how jazz and swing became to be known as “black music”. In order to answer these questions, it is imperative to know what conditions
Music is an activity that has been partaken in for centuries. The purpose of music is to allow the expression of emotions and what individuals’ lives have brought to them. Music tends to speak louder than words, which is the reason why there are so many love songs in the world. It is a way to express yourself and your feelings. This is the reason music has the capability to show others what has occurred during that time releasing all the secrets of the world.
In closing, it is so important to remember the relevance of music and its effects on society. While some can argue music has a greater consequence on society, it is important to remember why the music was created. The afore mentioned artists created their music in a way to focus on how to relay a particular message about how people were feeling about what was going on during those certain periods of time. Whether it be during the Civil Rights Movement or just general songs relaying how society was reacting to different situations such as a continuing feeling of racial
Each song and each genre has meaning, and that meaning doesn’t necessarily have to be incredibly significant for the music to have value. At its core, music is a vehicle for the expression of culture. Each genre or style of music represents different beliefs and different communities. When I listen to a song, I feel as if I’m having a conversation with the artist, where they tell me all about their way of life. This is what makes music powerful. A song can take me to places and time periods I would never be able to see in real life. In music, I experience a separate side of the exchange of ideas that I’ve come to love through Youth in Government and
One of the main things that motivates the group is how their songs touch the listeners. During an interview they say that this was a focus from the start. This decision is influenced by how they grew up. For Gary LeVox his inspiration was from singing in the church choir with his grandfather when he was a little boy. They see first hand how their music influences the listener's, and those moments they know that what they are doing is more than just music. They touch so many people by singing songs about suicide, cancer, or other things that people shy away from because it’s so personal. The band has heard countless stories on how their songs have completely changed people's lives, and that causes them to do what they do with even more passion
Your interest and energy towards making music represents an investment in time, and my goal is to make sure that your time is well spent. Each and every rehearsal and performance should be taken with a proactive mindset in moving forward towards creating music and improving as a unit. My goal is to maintain our group as a well-organized and enjoyable organization with a purpose of performing for the community in the modern 21st century.
Music allows an artist to give those whose voice may not be loud enough to be heard. Their music can cover any issue of poverty, discrimination, segregation, people of color, oppression, and etc. The lyrics are the key part to get any point across but also any footage that accompanies gives the viewer more of an insight into these issues. Many artist/bands like Bob Dylan, Fort Minor, Joyner Lucas, Hurray for the Riff Raff, and Michael Jackson address many issues the class talked about and the point of view of those who are viewed as minorities. The music these artists and bands produce gives the listener an idea of what exactly is happening in the world and what has happened. Each song individually covers the importance that we, as humans, must change the way we think and act and listen to the problems others have and even if it does not affect us.
Similarly, Jackson's most releases were singles with no collaboration. Although the vocal styles for the two musicians are different, they have a key similarity: both are unique and catchy. Thus, the two musicians captivate and excite people globally in similar magnitude but different styles. As Famous People Lessons say, "the two musicians are cut from one cloth, but in different ages"
Over the course of the advancement of music, there have been many technological changes that have made it so that music is improved and widely spread. This biggest change was brought on by the digital revolution that introduced the CDs to the market so that music could be easily spread between people. Additionally, radio had expanded with FM radio that gave rise to many new genres of music that initially were very niche. Each of these following singers is able to exemplify that aspect with their styles of music that had not been possible before the wide distribution of this new technology.
The two also share similar fan bases- mostly teen girls in the 15-21age range. However, the fanbases battle all the time about which artist has more talent. The two never really declared any hate for each other, but the fanbases are determined to somehow prove that one is more talented than the other. Again, the two artists are extremely similar, so it seems a little ridiculous to bicker over which one is better, but if you try telling that to the fanbases, you’ll get a strong reaction.
Now I am going to talk about why Band reveals who I am. Band reveals who I am because I love to hang out with my friends. Also, I have discovered I have found a love of playing the bell set. In Band I used to play the Flute, but it was really hard for me. So I switched to the bell set and figured out I really love to play that instrument. I really enjoy playing in a group of people that involve my friends and playing my favorite instrument and also I
