William Shakespeare was the greatest writer to ever live in the Elizabethan era. One of Shakespeare’s most famous plays was Romeo and Juliet. To summarize, it’s a story about rivalry households named Montague and Capulet. Two love birds of the opposite household fall in love. During their marriage tragedy strikes, they get separated, and in trying to reunite they both end up committing suicide. Though many versions of the original play have been changed to suit new generations, three main concepts share a correlation and distinctions between to one another.
One of the concepts that are really different is the plot. In the original much of the plot is suited for older audiences and with the twist of a depressing ending. Rivalry households fight one another for dominance over the other household. It is a very descriptive play,

Romeo not as impulsive, but quick-witted in situations. Montague is friends with Capulet, but pretend to fight with one another. They are staying incognito to try to hide the fact that they want their children to marry. Juliet is much more curious and honest about speaking towards Romeo. There are no mother figures, Juliet’s cousin, the nurse, the Prince, Mercutio, Friar Lawrence, and etc. A similarity between the two is that; Romeo and Juliet love one another.
The last concept that is really different is the ending of both plays. The original ends with the depressing death of both main characters. Romeo believing that his wife is dead, so he goes to her tomb to commit suicide. A few moments later Juliet wakes up seeing Romeo dead and soon commits suicide by stabbing herself. When the prince came by Friar Lawrence explained everything about what really happened between Romeo and Juliet. Both parents of Romeo and Juliet weep for the death of their children. Another difference in the ending is that the sun rises after Montague and Capulet come to a
The original play Romeo and Juliet and the new movie are almost exactly alike in their script, but the
In the “Romeo and Juliet” play and the Romeo + Juliet movie, there are a multitude of similarities and differences. “Romeo and Juliet” starts with the two star-crossed lovers meeting at a party. Their new obsession with each other leads them to get married. Romeo is exiled subsequent to killing his best friend’s murderer, Tybalt, who also happens to be Juliet’s cousin. Friar Lawrence conceives a plan to prevent Juliet from marrying Paris and reunite her with Romeo.
The memorable scenes and setting can be similar but different. The setting in West Side Story was New York, while in Romeo and Juliet it was in Verona. West Side Story was in the 1950’s. Romeo and Juliet was in 1500’s. In the movie West Side Story it seemed newer and it wasn't as boring and drug out, but Romeo and Juliet seemed like it took forever to get over with.
I think Juliet, in the book romeo and Juliet are. overreacting a little too much. Juliet was willing to fake her own death and of go through with the plan . Why didn't she consider just to run away. faking your death is doing a lot more than when she can just run away with romeo and end with the same answer. She thinks death will save her from from singing and remarrying while married. When she does do this she made everything worse when she could just go to the town that romeo is now living. By doing this she could push her mother and father over the edge and push them to their own suicide. I think that her marrying romeo so fast and sudden is mad but with this she is being forced to marry again knowing how this story ends she kills herself
Here are some ways that the play and movie have differences and similarities. First, we are going to talk about the play. Second, we are going to discuss the movie.

A strange tune my heart is playing, Today seems much known to me! Romeo breeze has been playing, All day long with my tresses, my skin, I love sitting in my balcony, Staring long the view outside, The moment of nothingness, The moment of be, That fragrance still lingers, Of thy love, thy romance, I feel nostalgic, melancholic heart, Today seems much known to me!
While reading and watching Romeo and Juliet, I liked the movie the most. Throughout all three different types of Romeo and Juliet we watched and read, they were all different in their own special way; weather some of the characters were different than themselves in the other two types or they didn’t show up at all and they are a big part in the original Romeo and Juliet ect. Really there was no character that was the exact same in all 3 different types of Romeo and Juliet. They were either more talkative or more violent (Romeo), but I don’t think that there was a character that was the exact same from the play to the book, then to the movie. That is why I pick Romeo to compare and contrast in my first paragraph because he was the most different from the movie to the play to and/or and
Why is it that that the movie of Romeo and Juliet has a lot of different things compared to the play? In this essay I’m writing about the difference that the movie and play of Romeo and Juliet, and the similarities they have. The topic I’m discussing are, plot, character vs society.
O Juliet, Juliet, wherefore art thou Juliet? Even so, I still love you since tonight we met. The first I set sight of you at the party, my dear,
Especially when it comes to Shakespeare and trying to interpret them portray his thoughts. Maybe the most different remake was the 1996 version with Leonardo DiCaprio. This version was very easy to pick out and spot as different. Just for starters the film had very modern attributes. For example guns and cars. Obviously back in the 1590’s Shakespeare couldn’t even fathom the thought of motored vehicles or modern guns. This changed the film because the altercations between the families weren’t exactly hand to hand like the original and the other productions. People were also able to travel a lot quicker from place to place. In the ‘96 film DiCaprio even got into a high speed chase with the police. The ‘96 film was different in how it was presented. The film felt rushed instead of a steady flow. It was more of an action movie feel instead of a love story. The audience couldn’t quite connect with all the characters that well and some scenes were prolonged because of the shorter dialogue scenes between characters. It was like the movie was centered around the conflict and violence between the Montague and Capulet overshadowing the true meaning of love that the others had. There were more subtle differences in the movies scenes. Like when Romeo & Juliet were at the party and meet for the first time. In the others and the original they are only noticed by the nurse. But in the DiCaprio version they are noticed together by many people that are attending the party. Another scene that is different is where Romeo gets the poison. In the others and the original Romeo gets the poison from the apothecary. But in this film he gets the poison from the pool hall. It’s just a contribution to the modern twist the production is trying to portray. A big difference is where this film was shot at. Instead of in Italy or on a stage this film was shot in Los Angeles. There were beaches and little shacks where
In order to compare both I am also going to parse the drama Romeo and Juliet, however I will only lay the focus on the prologue as well as certain scenes, for example their first meeting, their wedding and their death.
To begin, this essay will compare and contrast the similarities and differences throughout the movie version of Romeo and Juliet and the play that we have been reading in class. Although I did not notice a large amount of differences in the movie, I was aware of the similarities because they were more evident than the differences.
Both Hamlet and Romeo are alike and different in several ways. Hamlet is vengeful while Romeo is romantic. For Hamlet, in Act 1, Scene 5, he says,”Haste me to know’t, that I with wings as swift. As meditation or thoughts or the thoughts of love. May sweep to my revenge.” That shows that Hamlet is ready to get revenge on his uncle and is bloodthirsty. Now, for Romeo, Romeo is deeply in love with Juliet and will basically do anything for her. For example, in Act 1, Scene 5, he says,”I would not for the world they saw thee here.” Romeo basically means that he’s willing to give everything in order for no one to see that Juliet’s there talking to him. The choice that Hamlet took was revenge, as stated in Act 1, Scene 5,”Revenge his foul and most unnatural murder.” As for Romeo, he chose the path of love no matter the consequence, when stated in Act 2, Scene 2,”Lady, by yonder blessed by moon I vow, That tips with silver all these fruit-tree tops.” Also, they’re both similar, because both Romeo and Hamlet strive for a certain goal and are willing to do whatever it takes to achieve it. Romeo’s motivation was the future him and Juliet could possibly have and live in peace without any feuds, when Romeo said,”Till thou shalt know the reason of my love. And so, good Capulet-which name I tender. As dearly my own-be satisfied.”Although for Hamlet, his motivation was to kill his uncle who murdered his father, as said in Act 1, Scene 5,”Murder most foul, as it always is: but this one exceptionally foul, remarkable, and against
Romeo and Juliet compared to West Side Story can be contrasted and compared. These are the four different plot events that were taken in the movies (West Side Story) and (Romeo And Juliet.) One of the events that took place was at the beginning of the play where all the crews hated each other. They were similar because, in Romeo and Juliet, the Capulets and the Montagues hated each other for a while because they were constantly fighting over stupid things and did not get along well. Same with the Jets and the sharks except the Jets were constantly picking on them because they were different from the rest. Another event that took place was when the two lovers met for the first time. In Romeo and Juliet, They met at the masquerade ball where it was a Capulets party and people had to dress up fancy and put on a mask on their face which covered their face and could not tell who was a Montague and a Capulet. The Montagues were not invited but Romeo found out through a messenger and he was in “love” with Rosaline. Romeo brought his best friend, Mercutio, and his cousin, Benvolio. Romeo and Juliet met through a dance and they talked for a while privately. Later on, Romeo and his crew decided to leave because one of the Capulet found out that he and his crew were Montagues. There were guards everywhere but they did not get caught. This is Romeo and Juliet side of the story. In West Side Story, Tony and Maria meet for the first time at the neutral gym where the sharks and the jets
