Conflict is something that people come across in a daily base, conflict is when two or more people do not agree on a specific subject. Conflict can get out of hand when someone comes to a disagreement that leads to an argument and can bring tension. Conflict is seen in different forms by many people depending on its situation. Conflict is seen at work with co-workers, students or customers in different places that we visit every day. However, each person can handle these situations differently in order to resolve the problem. I work in a community college and I take responsibility by helping as many students to continue their education and making it a positive environment for them. I will explain a problem-solving sensitive situation that happened at my place of employment. There was a parent trying to find out her daughter confidential information and was released without her consent. Throughout this paper I will discuss how policy and procedures are very …show more content…
I explained to him we have policies to follow and if he wanted to register for the government class he would need to go the college the government class was held at and speak to their department. He would need to ask for permission and would receive a required form and would return back to the admission department, where the class was held at so they can put him in the class. He follows the instructions and steps he would need to follow to get in the class, he returned to our admission department. The student was now calm and understanding that there are policies we have to follow. He understood for the next time if he wanted to register for a closed class/full he knows what procedures he needs to follow. The communication with the student came out to be a positive outcome because he was able to register for the government class he wanted for the
W. Johnson and T. Johnson informs, “The first is that by teaching students the skills, competencies, conceptual understandings, attitudes, and values necessary to resolve conflicts constructively, a safe and productive learning climate will be created.” Once students have mastered the competencies and attitudes they need to resolve conflicts, they will then have to face their own conflicts rather than avoid them. Through this process there will be both immediate and long-term goals.
My main intention is to persuade the audience on the topic that those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it and to pass year 12. The violent encounters of the past contain valuable lessons about resolving conflict. This writing is to be directed at the people reading it, which will be the general audience that doesn’t really understand the lessons of past and present conflict. Based on real world examples, and examples from the crucible. The style of writing is an expository.
For centuries, violence has been the go to way to settle conflicts, but it has also been very controversial throughout the years. While some say war is important in order to maintain our freedom, it is actually a very unnecessary and destructive way of settling conflicts because it kills so many innocent people and it hardly ever accomplishes anything for such a hefty price.
Conflict is natural it's how it is handled that creates a positive or negative outcome. If handled successfully, conflict leads to positive change, communication, and a great learning experience; if handled ineffectively, conflict can progress and evolve into physical violence, bullying and emotional pain (Bickmore, 2011). Conflict resolution or management refers to processes and programs that teach individuals concepts and skills for preventing, managing, and resolving conflicts non-violently (Holton, 2003). Conflict management programs in schools can teach effective communication, life skills, mutually beneficial negotiation strategies, and violence prevention strategies (Greene, 2011). Such programs are very effective in elementary, middle and high schools to help students, teachers, education administrators and parents resolve conflicts effectively.
As nurses, it is imperative that we have skills to deal with conflict we encounter throughout the day. Some conflicts are easily handled with simple solutions; other disagreements can persist for weeks or even months and never be handled in a proper way to resolve the situation. The later kind of situation can create resentment, anger, and animosity between employees or colleagues. In this paper I will describe a conflict situation with resolution strategies used by the confronter, discuss other ways to resolve the conflict, and discuss the conflict theory most beneficial to use with a diverse group of people.
The conflict perspective focus is on society based on conflicts and tensions between social groups. The conflict perspective grew by Karl Marx, whom viewed the society as, “a struggle between social classes” (36). This perspective looks at the ways which the government or socially powerful groups shape the lives of others. One example is, the introduction of machines in the work field. These machines produced faster product and many workers found it hard to keep up with the pace. Therefore, companies replaced the slower older workers with young worker who were able to keep up with the pace. Therefore, this perspective would view this conflict and tension as part of a class struggle. The older people became victims of the system which served

The article that I found is a father who jumped off a 100-foot bridge while holding his two children in his arms. While the father did die on impact, his two children fortunately lived through the incident. After reading more into the news story, it was said that the wife of the husband and mother of the children had argued with the father and the father threatened to harm the children and then took off. Based on that, I believe that the conflict perspective applies to the situation best. Clearly during the day there was a conflict between the husband and wife and I assume that the father was struggling for power over the mother so he wanted to take their kids from her. While I do not know the entire story or the mother or fathers state of

The word conflict comes from the Latin word configere meaning ‘to hit each other’. Its common usage today is as a social process between two people or more (can also group) where one party trying to get rid of the other party to destroy it or made powerless. Conflict contrary to integration, conflict and integration runs as a cycle in the community. Controlled conflict will result in integration. Otherwise, imperfect integration can create conflict. Meanwhile, social conflict can be interpreted in two ways. First, the perspective that considers the conflict is always there and coloring all aspects of human interaction and social structure. Second, social conflict is an open dispute as war, revolution, strike, and the resistance movement. Soerjono Soekanto (1990) mentions the conflict as a disagreement or dispute, a process of person to person or a group of individuals, who strive to meet the goal by challenging the opposing party, accompanied by threat and or violence.
Conflict is inescapable, having the ability to recognize, understand, and resolve conflicts are important in both personal and professional lives. Myatt (2012) states that conflict in the workplace is unavoidable; if left unresolved, workplace conflict may result in loss of productivity and the creation of barriers that can inhibit creativity, cooperation, and collaboration. It is vital to embrace conflict and address problems through effective conflict-resolution tactics because if not handled appropriately, conflict will escalate. “If not handled properly, conflict may significantly affect employee morale, increase turnover, and even result in litigation, ultimately affecting the overall well-being of
In a world where violence is habitual, inevitably being used as the answer or defensive take on conflict, it is abolishing all signs of harmony, compassion and unity to each other. This is apparent as it overcrowds the daily newsfeed with reoccurring articles about conflict and its detrimental effects on society. History confirms, when violence is used by either the government or by the people, the other party in countries which are occupied by foreign powers generally fight back. It seems that even with the historic and much emphasised teachings of Dalai Lama, Gandhi and Nelson Mandela; to use non-violent ways of protest, there is still a proliferation of violence. It seems that the world is still turning its face and accepting violence as an ordinary act. This is unhealthy and unacceptable in countless ways.
