To maximize my research potential, it is important that I consider the following when selecting my future graduate school. One of my main considerations is that my research advisor gives me independence in lab. I have experienced working on research projects independently and it has allowed me to use my creativity. For example, I was asked how I would go about analyzing the amount of To maximize my research potential, it is important that I consider the following when selecting my future graduate school. Confidence enables you to be independent. That means that you have the confidence to try something new and being independent helps with confidence. An example of this is when I went to work in the Walt Disney College Program. While in the Disney College Program, I worked in the MGM studios (its now know as Hollywood Studios) at a quick service restaurant called The Backlot Express. I spent a lot of time
“The developed world deprives children of a basic and inalienable right: unstructured outdoor play. Children today have substantially less access to nature, less free range, and less time for independent play than previous generations had.” This quote is from the research based paper titled, “Where the Wild Things Should Be: Healing Nature Deficit Disorder through the Schoolyard." This article touches many aspects of how children now a days need more exposure to nature like it was on the older days. Currently, there are many playgrounds around the United States and even more the world. This article is trying to bring awareness to the problem of if playgrounds do not have enough nature or is too safe then it is
When in school, upon given any assignment, I would research, research and research again all the main components of the assignment. I love to know what’s next and what certain things mean. Independent research is a lot easier for me. I can process my thoughts and
I have gone through the learning requirnments of statistics 200. I also have completed Research Methods 301W along with the rquired citi training. I have advanced with the process of writing and taking information from primary research and secondary research. In the folowing fall semester, I will be conducting my own research. My work is submitted to the IRB and is being processed and will then be performed in my senior year with the aid of my professor. My research is on the influence of learning and how technology affects it. I am excited and know that this is a tremendous opportunity that will help me broaden my knowledge.
This voice is still pushing me to extend my limits and explore even more of my world. I can use this motivation to keep me set on work while still keeping it enjoyable. I believe that the research program will assist me with this work, as it will give me the freedom to expand my horizons even further. It will also most likely help me balance all of this work and research so I may have an enjoyable rather than stressed experience as I learn and explore by driving me to organize and stay consistent with my ideas so I don’t leave personal projects unfinished. The GNS Research Program should improve my research skills, providing me with a way to easier express information and ideas I have gathered and thought of than if I didn’t have the guide of others. I oftentimes work more productively independently because of my inability to connect with others. I see my inability as a possible negative to any research projects in the future, and hopefully the program will help me communicate better so I could convey my findings and data more successfully with
An estimated 25 million or more animals are used yearly in the U.S. These animals are commonly used in biomedical research as “models” for human disease, they are also used in basic biomedical research which is research for general understanding. Not only are animals used in biomedical research but, behavioral research as well, such as psychology and addiction studies, military, space, and agricultural research, product development and drug testing, as well as science education. Animals shouldn’t be used for such testing, these tests are unethical, inhumane and completely unnecessary. Thousands of animals suffer and die every day in laboratories around the world. In most states, abuse or cruelty towards animals is illegal. A person can face up to 7 years in prison and a fine of maximum $235,600. If it is illegal for cruelty to be conducted on animals why does it make it okay in the name of science?
Independence is important as it will prevent you keep asking about what you need to do so that you can just get on with it and not disturb anyone else who is working on the same thing as you plus it will allow you to work at a faster rate. This also is important so you can work without feeling scared your going to fail. This is valued by a company as they will know you won’t distract anyone else.
By “blue-sky” research, Sir John Vane means researching and spending time partaking in activities that a person is genuinely interested in, not wasting time on activities with a goal of reaching an end-product or result. Rather than using research as a means of self indulgence, Sir John Vane uses the notion of blue-sky research to instead participate in what one is interested in. Advantages to blue-sky research include the development of Bayer aspirin and its’ effects on society today. Through genuine interest, Felix Hoffman was able to stumble upon the creation of aspirin, something beneficial to millions today. Ian Frazier connects blue-sky research to playing in the woods with an explanation of marginal activities. Marginal activities are activities that certain members of society, depending on their place or age, participate in with genuine interest and enjoyment. For example, an adult would not be seen playing in the woods, as opposed to a child. Inversely, a child would not be seen studying about the stock exchange. With these supposed cultural constructs, Ian Frazier reminisces about when he would play in the woods with genuine interest and satisfaction. Ian Frazier’s marginal activity connects to Sir John Vane’s blue-sky research through the fact that both include genuine, satisfying activities that enrich the community. As explained in Sir John Vane’s essay, “Blue-Sky Research,” such research “[holds] great promise for the community,” helping reverse today’s “urgency to show a return,” (346). Because of Frazier’s enjoyment, playing in the woods was not a rushed activity, connecting to blue-sky research and helping push Sir John Vane’s philosophy.
both independence and collaboration have there highs and there lows. But when it comes down to the real world, independece is more important . When it comes down to it you are the one that determines what is best for you. the way i see it, no one is going to be by your side holding your hand teaching you what to do and what not to do threw out your
Best practice research allows for new projects to be implemented with an understanding of what works, and what doesn’t. Often, this research can reveal a quicker path to successful program implementation and show how to use resources most efficiently. Thus, best practice research will help in the planning process of a permanent supportive housing community in Little Rock. The research has shown permanent supportive housing communities have been implemented throughout the United States and been successful. The analysis and information has helped to create a need for the emulation of similar program across the nation.
Analyze research issues that impact the public and recommend legislation and governmental intervention to address the problems.
Determinants of health are the personal, social, economic, and environmental factors that determine the overall health status of individuals and populations. For some populations these determinants cannot be controlled or obtained leading to a decrease in good overall health.
As far as my research project up to this point, I feel as though I am headed in
The research I have conducted explains the way I grow and think as a human being. It will give reason to my nonsocial habits and my tendencies to focus in on problems. This research not only gives understanding to the basic of my personality traits but it demonstrated my strengths and weaknesses as well. INTPs are very logical people and can do great things. As thinkers INTPs look at wide variety of outcomes in a situation. Clarity is essential to how situations are handled. My research gave a look on how I perceive the world. My ideas sometime don’t fit into reality. Perception,
I can also work well independently. This is very true when I make my reaction papers, concept papers and other individual reports. But I am fonder with working with a group.
