The Great Constitution: Divided Powers The United States of America is one of the greatest if not the greatest country in the world. One of the most notable trait what makes America great is its freedom and it all started with the Constitution. The US Constitution Is one of the greatest works too because once it was made It gave power to the people and didn't make the government so powerful in which they could control the people. One practice that was put in place was the Bill of Rights, another one was checks and balances and let's not forget federalism. the Bill of Rights is a written document to protect the rights of people and to limit the power of the government. the way the Bill of Rights limits the power of the government is that they can make any laws that would contradict or go against the bill right, for example, our Second Amendment gives us the right to bear arms, which means we can carry guns and the government cannot make a law against that. Our first amendment we have freedom of speech and press which also means that they cannot control what we say and they cannot take that away from us. The 4th amendment they cannot search our houses without a warrant. These are just a few ways that this document limits the power of the government and protects the people (Document 3). The third and final way that the Constitution limits the power of the government is the concept of federalism. federalism is a concept the division of power between the state and the government. That means that the national government does not control all laws and it gives power to the state for example in today's world let's take marijuana as an example. the national government states that marijuana is illegal but in States like Colorado and Nevada marijuana it is legal.
