Detailed description The custom surgical packs is a process of assembling, sterilizing, packaging and delivering surgical packs for scheduled surgical procedures in hospitals. This is a process that is facilitated by the client hospitals coordinating with their approved manufacturers of the surgical tools, instruments and linen to deliver their pre-approved list of selected items of their choice and use in a specific surgical procedure. This Just in time begins with confirmation of the order from the hospital with a list of required packs for surgical procedures scheduled for one day. A specific processor of the server obtains a code for this order and obtains a sheet of all instruments and the entire preferred manufacturers. This list is transferred to the warehouse where the warehouse operator obtains all the required equipments and from the specified manufacturers. Employees are assigned the various packs and tasked to assemble onto a counter all supplies for one pack at a time. The employees obtain the materials from the storage area and assemble them on the counter and later to a convey belt. Since the packs are bulky, there is use of lifts and cranes to move these packs while processing the orders. These items are passed through a conveying belt where they are confirmed by two attendants. For instance, when an order comes through, a station leader will request scalpels from one manufacturer, hospital linen from another supplier, forceps from another supplier to be assembled on the work area, and they are all loaded to the conveyor belt. All components must be assembled and verified before they are sent to the decontamination room. This conveyor belt takes all the equipments to a decontamination room where they are cleaned with warm water and soap, rinsed and chemically sterilized by automated machines and placed in their holding pouches to avoid recontamination. We will make sure that per our hospital policy we will I.D. the site at admission, whenever there is a patient transfer, and at preop we will communicate this with the patient whenever the patient is aware. We will strive to make sure that the surgical sites are appropriately marked per the site I.D. policy and that the patient is interactive in the process when applicable. As part of this policy we will also make sure that all necessary medical records and labs are readily available for the procedure.
