Crazy Talk It all started on a marvelous sunny Sunday afternoon were Greg Johnson was trying to make his dog Buford to his tricks. This day Buford would not do his tricks no matter what Greg did to bribe him.
That's when it hit Greg, what if there was a way to communicate to his dog Buford so that he could understand exactly what Greg was saying.
With that thought he left Buford and zipped down the road on his bike all the way down to his friends Fred's house. When he got there he knocked on the front door. Fred's mom answered the door. “Hi Greg, Fred is upstairs in his room”.“Thanks” Greg answered back. Eventually it was the weekend and they were not even one fourth of the way there. Early on Saturday morning at about 6:00 Greg snuck over to Fred’s house.
Greg wanted to get Fred’s attention so he tossed a pebble at Fred’s window. After a lot of pebbles Fred finally went up to the window, opened it and grogley said to Greg “What it's like 6:30 bro” Greg commented “ So? When he got up Greg was still working and told him “Hey get back to work because I so far have done like all of the work” Fred sat up right away and furiously said “You have done all of the work? No you have not I have and I took a nap because I am working way harder than you.” Then Greg and Fred got into this huge argument about who did more work. Then the argument ended with Fred yelling “Well if you do everything then you don't need me so I will just leave you alone.” Fred stormed out of Greg’s garage. Greg snapped back at him “Good I don't need your help I can do it myself”. But deep down inside Greg knew he could not do it without Fred. Greg started to work on the project all day. In the beginning, Greg leaves the house, in a furious state, for an abandoned tenement, so that he can get away from his father. He is upset at his father for lecturing him. Greg is failing math; therefore, his father forbids him to play basketball unless his math grade improves. In the tenement, he meets a raggedy, old man, Lemon Brown, who talks about treasure.
“Well,” Mrs. Johnson interrupted, “how about we settled down and talk about our plans for the morning?” Everyone agreed and sat in a circle discussing their ideas. Next, they decided they should head to bed due to the early times they would have to wake in the morning. As they woke up, they put on their layers of clothes, grabbed their bags, and headed for the Johnsons’ business. They would be staying in an attic, which luckily had a bathroom, but would have to sleep all in one room. They set up their belongings and set rules which they would have to follow to stay safe.
When they arrived in Grand Rapids they went to the Log Cabin where Herman E. Calloway lives Bud got off the car first and said he would like to explain to his father by himself.
