I sit, knees pointed towards my chest, feet on the chair. An enduring sneer manifests itself upon my face. My mother, make’s eye contact and shoots an encouraging smile in my direction. She is rebuffed by a passionate upwards curl of my nose. I don’t have an attitude problem. My shirt clings stuck to my back. The inescapable, tacky heat of northern Queensland, does nothing to quench my mood. It’s more the fact that trapped on a boat surrounded by endless plains of water. I’m more of a terrestrial being.
To be honest my holiday up to this point has been quite pleasant. That’s till my family decided to book a Scuba Diving experience. A day of intimate exploration of the world acclaimed Great Barrier Reef. Would be terrific, except for the fact
SPLASH!, Nothing better than a beautiful day at the beach in Avon with my Mom and Friends. We picked the spot where we always sit. Next to the lifeguard and the water in front of us. My mom would always get mad when people just plop down right in front of us, and some people just touch our things for no reason. Once someone was sitting on my surfboard and my mom got extremely mad about it. Now we put the boards in front of us.
Grand Teton National Park is wonderful to visit any time of year, but Fall is my favorite. Autumn brings many wonderful things to the Tetons, but one thing it takes away are the large crowds of summer. Whew!
Four friends were going to hang out at Kings Island during Halloween Haunt. Their names are Jane Rogers, April O’Neil, Steve Rogers, and Donatello Hamato.
“I’m Randy Kim, I was a police officer before everything went to shit. Most of these guys are prior law enforcement. Look we’re only trying to protect our own.”
Coral reefs are natural formations that host around twenty-five percent of the world’s marine species, however, these reefs are majorly threatened (“Air”). The Great Barrier Reef in particular is an important marine location, home to major marine diversity with over 3,000 reefs over 1,400 miles (“Great” World Book). The Great Barrier Reef is a limestone formation made of coral polyps and algae, and lays off the coast of Queensland, Australia. For many years, this reef has been exposed to several threats. The threats facing the Great Barrier Reef include pollution, invasive species, and climate change.
Hi Sharks. I am Zachary, from Akkad in the Akkadian empire. Akkad is near both the Tigris and Euphrates river, it’s near the Persian gulf, and it is very flat. We are known for the first and the only empire of Sargon the great! Were also known for paying soldiers and hiring governors! I was once a merchant,when I traded goods, it was very hard for me to carry them back from other countries. I always have a sore back from carrying or dragging the goods around. I always thought there could be a solution. And then I had an idea, and the wheel was born!
Recently Australia has been under the national and international spotlight regarding methods implemented to reduce tiger, great white and bull sharks numbers in an attempt to minimise human fatalities. Although relatively infrequent, shark attacks attract a high level of public and media interest, as they invoke a dramatic emotional response. Australia is well known for its beach culture, due mostly to its approximate 11, 800 beaches and estimated 35, 000km of coastline.35 000 km of coast. Given that Australia has a mostly favourable climate, and a range of popular beach and water-related activities, it is not surprising that it has a relatively high rate of shark attack. Data from the Australian Shark Attack File were examined
Looking at the aspects mentioned above, which threaten and harm the Great Barrier Reef every day, it becomes clear that it needs special protection. The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority ( GBRMPA ) is an governmental organization that fulfills the tasks of managing the big reef, informing tourists about the reef and rules, verifying the stock of native animals and of course controlling the health of the sensitive coral reefs by checking them frequently.
The various monitors and panels in the cockpit hummed quietly, bathing the space in soft cyan light. Prosthetic fingers tapped at the piloting console, numbers and coordinates flashing on the screen. The ship's structure creaked as it shifted direction, heading towards a nearby asteroid belt. The local system's brown dwarf glowed a soft orange, its light gleaming off of the edges of the spacecraft. An automated voice breaks through the mostly silent room;
Back in October, Nathan, my Aussie boyfriend, treated to me to authentic Australian cuisine. This was surprising since he is always talking about the food in Australia and is always comparing the food. For example, Nathan gets so excited when we order pizza and comments on how the pizzas in Australia are smaller than the ones here. I guess I just assumed that all pizzas were made equally when it came to the size of them, although apparently that is not so. I was a bit nervous since, I happen to be an incredibly picky eater and I did not wish to upset him. The first food he made was pikelets. I was sorta excited because Nathan made it sound as if it were something super exotic, however to my surprise these pikelets are basically delicious, Australian
Australia day parade is so fascinating, and every year with new surprises. Last year was in a bucolic yard, with ineffable nature. The only downside was the sun rays which made beads of sweat on your forehead by just sitting down. The sun feels like a hot knife laid directly on your face. So this year it is on the beach during dusk. The Fireworks celebrating Australia day had stopped. Many murmurs and movement echoed after the splash of colors displayed. The baby girl was baffled as her parent was nowhere to be seen. She scavenged and searched desperately for her parents. She sauntered along the shore and looked through the dunes of sand. Her parents could be anywhere on the beach where the myriad of people was. The little girl was still persistent
After I said my what could possibly be my last words to Hrothgar, I dove in the deep dark abyss and just began swimming, I swam for so long that I lost track of the amount of time I had been going for. At last I saw a glimpse of the seafloor, but little did I know that was the simplest part of my lengthy journey.As I began investigating the seafloor I finally received my first sighting of the massive behemoth of the monster that guarded the seafloor.I quickly pulled out my weapon and with all my sheer strength and might I swung my sword straight for the beasts' head. I soon realized that this sword, that had been through countless number of hand to hand combats and carved through the helmets had failed me. The sword did not scratch the powerful
PCBs were identified in all reef surface sediment samples, reflecting worldwide pollution by these compositions in the coral reef sediments of the fragile ecosystem at Kharg and Lark coral reefs, the Persian Gulf. Hereupon, the total concentrations of these detected 20 PCB congeners in the Kharg and Lark coral reefs were also selected to exhibit the PCB contamination grades along with ecological risks in this environment. The mean concentration of the total PCBs (∑20¬PCBs) in the reef surface sediments of the 16 sampling sites on the Kharg Island ranged from 0.25 to 7.45¬ng.g-1 dw, with an overall mean value of 3.12 ng.¬g-1dw,whilst ∑20¬PCBs varied from 0.04 to 2.83 with a total average of 1.04 ng.¬g-1dw at Lark Island on July 2014(Table).in January 2015, ∑20¬PCBs oscillated 0.50 to 9.12(overall average:4.45) and 0.07 to 5.62 at Kharg and Lark coral reefs ,respectively(Table).Significant spatial
We studied at a cold windy place. I could feel the wind blowing through my hair. The smell of seaweed filled my nose. The day we went it was 46˚ and it was 12 o'clock on Tuesday October 25 2016. There were a lot of rocks and freezing water surrounding the rocks. On top of the rocks were seaweed and kelp which was a great hiding place for a crab, which is what we were looking for. We were looking for a rock crab which is very hard to find. The place we went to look for the rock crab is our local beach Kettle Cove, Cape Elizabeth maine. We searched for a very long time and it was hard picking up rocks. I have a scrape from a barnacle on my wrist to prove it. We found a lot of green crabs and asian shores but no rock crab though I noticed that
I was on my way to New Mexico to research a horse that was called a mustang about two hours on the plane there was a engine failure and we ended up landing in the Amazon Tropical Rainforest . In this specific rainforest it was about eighty degrees fahrenheit and 27 degrees celsius. It was also very humid in the summers plus the winters.My exact gps was 15 south and 71 to the west. At this time I was at the top of the food chain. I had seen some very beautiful plants like Heliconia flower, Cacao, Bromeliads,Venus fly trap and a very special one called The brazil nut tree because they grow only in three places in the world.There were also a lot of animals but the ones that stood out the most were the sloths, toucans,fossa
