Weight: 178 lbs. “How are you feeling?” Sam Boyer asked as he examined into the young Asian’s eyes. “Fine, sir,” Joe answered. “Any headaches?” “A few, sir. When I’ve worked in the lab for too long. Nothing serious, I don’t think.” Sam nodded and picked up his stethoscope. “Back trouble?” “A bit,” Joe nodded. “You’re spending a great deal of time in your lab,” Sam noted. “All that sitting at your computers and viewfinders won’t do you much good. I think it would help you to put some time in at the gym too.” Joe nodded quietly. “I know we have a functioning artificial gravity on the ship,” Sam continued, “but that only reduces the effects of being in zero-gravity space. We’re still susceptible to all the same problems astronauts dealt with two hundred years ago. Time in the gym is important for your well-being. I know your work surveying this galaxy is important but no more so than your health. I know you got all these lectures in training and there’s a reason for that. It’s important.” …show more content…

“Now, how are you sleeping?” Joe frowned. “Okay, I guess.” “It’s okay, if you’re not,” Sam sat back in his chair. “As a matter of fact, I’d be surprised if you were. We’re in a stressful situation and one of the first areas that affects if sleep.” With a sigh, Joe nodded. “I’m very restless at night. I wake up off and on.” “I can give something that’ll help,” Sam told him. “And I know that Wyatt ordered you to find us a planet with water on it…and that is important…but I want you to spend a little less time in your lab. Sometime in the gym will help you with that as well. We have to strike a balance between work and exercise if we’re going to make this work.
