The smell of the oil and gunpowder while his head was at the butt of the gun. The gray and brown fur in his sights and then he pulled the trigger and the firing pin hitting the bullet and he let the bullet fly. The deer dropped to its last breath while Jamie was still shaking the orchard went silent. As he approached the deer with caution red steaming blood was coming out of the exit hole on the back of the deer. Once he knelt down beside the down buck the he felt like he had made his family proud as he sat there thinking about how proud his grandpa would be and wondering about how many deer have been shot with that same he just shot his first deer with. Once he ran back to the house his heart almost falling out of his chest ‘’thump thump
Im going to be honest, I was terrified when I looked at the packet that said “What does my book choice say about me?”. I was worried that I might not be able to relate to the book, as I find it hard to even read books and understand them in the first place. I saw the title In Darkness and being the person I am, thought “Hey, In Darkness, sounds like it’s about depression, I can totally relate!” but then proceeded to wait till the middle of the summer to even pick a book. My friend had read all the books on the list and thought I might like In Darkness, saying how there was blood and violence which might help keep me interested, and trusting her, I got the book.
The protagonist is excited about the hunting trip, but initiates the event with a sense of innocence and curiosity. Another factor in Andy's willingness to go hunting may be in order to please her father or show that she is capable of doing everything a boy can do. While the hunters spend multiple days searching for game, Andy is the only one who comes in contact with the deer. While the characters hunt in the location where Andy saw the deer, Andy prays that they finally get a deer. On a second occurrence, she comes in contact with a deer. This time, the deer does not run away and stays stationary, grazing in the open. When the hunters finally spot the deer, Andy is asked if she wants to shoot it. Initially, she is frightened by the idea, but collapses under the weight of the peer pressure exerted by the impatience of Charlie and the expectancy of her Father. She finally holds the gun in her hand and aims the gun at the doe's chest area. While her mind began to blank out, she stopped thinking about the fact that she had never shot a living creature before and pulled the trigger. After the shot had been made, the doe eventually fell to the snow covered ground, and was assumed dead. Upon seeing the doe laying on the ground, the hunters walked steadily towards it, congratulating Andy for her clean shot. While
Drenched and frozen, only the warmth from their mothers’ kept the young creatures sustained. The trees’ limbs hung low from the weight of the swampy atmosphere; causing the joyous ambience of the forest to restrain her passion.
If he had been human, everything would have been easier. Hal's life would have been so much better; he wouldn't have been forced to fight, or be controlled by the code in his head. He would have grown into a different, maybe better person. But then, they would still be stuck in the compound, still there when the bots had malfunctioned, and they may have not even escaped. Perhaps they would have died an untimely death and not have escaped into the wastes and would be left to rot in the desecrated compound, forgotten, and the only sign they were there were their desecrated skeletons, and even those would be ground away by the sands of time until they eventually became nothing. It was a pity that they would meet that fate regardless; Dirk would
Weeks later, as Snowman stares into the familiar bright green eyes, he thinks back to what led him here, forgetting the fact that in a few moments, his whole world will be turned upside down.
No shot rang through the trees. No pain pierced his flesh. He was whole. Slowly, he began to lower his arms. The gun lay on the ground by Mr Laing’s side, his eyes wide with shock.
It was unclear what exactly woke up the small elf, maybe the unfamiliar sounds of horse hooves against the ground, maybe the bright sunlight shining through the sparse forest, maybe the motions of the carriage from the uneven terrain, or some divine forsaken mixture of the three. When she attempted raising her arms to shield her eyes from the harsh light, she discovered that they had been bound together, and rather tightly at that. 'Great,' she thought to herself.
“The sea and the sky are the same,” uncle always said. At the time he had laughed, but looking out that morning; the cold sea mist clinging to my clothes, I knew he was right.
It was dark when I arrived at the village. People were going about their nightly chores before they retired for the night. They quickly escorted me to the wigwam of a woman who was in labour.
A child runs inside a small classroom gathering his thoughts wondering what he saw. Bewildered by what he had just seen he had become so frightened he hadn’t realized his hands were shaking. Collecting his thoughts he remembered that he heard a banging on a door someone opened it and a man with patches of flesh missing ran up and bit the student who opened the door. Dumbfound by the whole experience he began barricading the door shut and looking for something to defend himself with. Easily finding a meter stick as he entered a mathematics classroom he began sharpening it scared stiff the entire time. Finally he felt safe although he could hear running and screaming every second coming from outside the doors. Getting up he finally had the strength
Liam woke up late one night to his phone ringing. Groaning he turned on the lamp and grabbed his phone from the night stand. Who was calling him at this ungodly hour? Liam shielded his eyes from the light. After a couple of seconds Liam’s eyes finally adjusted to the brightness.
Bang! A loud gunshot startled the deer and her fawns. Immediately, the deer hid her fawns under the dead evergreen tree. The fawns were shaking, the littlest one didn’t want his mom to leave.
Isaac looked up from the blood on the ground and gripped the rough handle of his spear tighter. The rough stone spearpoint was nicked badly, and covered in dried blood. ‘This thing won’t last much longer.’ I thought. I got up from my crouch after rubbing some of the blood between two fingers. It was still wet, but it looked like it was starting to dry in the intense sunlight. I’m getting closer then.
Soon enough, however, we seemed to become bored with our adventure and decided that our excitement for the day had ended, so we began our short journey back to my house. On the way back, we stopped briefly by the tree that supplied the three squirrels we killed previously. I then continued walking, but my friend had noticed a squirrel clinging to the trunk of the tree. I was on the opposite side of the tree from him, about forty feet away from my fellow gunslinger. As I turned around, I noticed I was in the direct line of his firing range. Before I had time to warn him of the unsafe situation, I saw the shots. Three consecutive discharges of his gun snapped the scene into slow motion. Fire and smoke billowed out of his gun after each bullet was released. The sound of the shots was deafened by my own fear, although I could hear the bullets whizzing inches from my head. As bullets pierced the air right next
His heart jumped into his throat, as he was staring into the eyes of a black bear. Not only did his opinion of camping degrade even more, but now he had to arrange the thoughts in his head, so that he could find his dad's advice to put in this situation. He applied all of his knowledge to the problem, and if he did it incorrectly it would ruin his life. He stayed calm, trying his best not to act like prey and not show fear. He even tried to converse with the possibly killer beast. One of the things he said was, "Nice bear, I was just looking, and making sure things were okay.". Eventually, because of ten minutes of peacefully exchanging looks and words, the bear soon calmed down. Grady walked back slowly to the campsite, his mind time traveling
