I wasn’t planning on falling into that canyon, but once I did, there was no going back. It was hot, dry day deep in the Arizona desert. I was about 5 years old and was visiting the Grand Canyon with my grandparents. We were walking along a trail and I was playing with my ball, when all of a sudden, I dropped it. The ball rolled along the trail about 50 feet or so before it dropped into the abyss of a canyon. I chased after thinking I could retrieve it from the canyon. When I got to the edge of the canyon, I peeked in. What I saw was absolutely horrifying. My ball was in the striking distance of a Diamondback rattlesnake. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Before my grandparents could react, I jumped into the canyon. I fell for what felt like ages.
"Wake up, partners," the trail boss, James called. I sleepily looked up , shivered, and saw I was the only one not up. "Here," James said, giving me the horses' bridles and saddles. "Take these and get the horses ready. We have a long day today." I groaned in reply and set up the horses for the day's long drag. I was the horse wrangler and this was my everyday job but I still couldn't get use to the idea of waking up before the sun and working. We drove the cattle into open plains against the winter's cold wrath.
I awoke on a cool summer morning, at first I wasn't completely there but then, a chill of excitement ran down my spine as I realized my family was going camping today. I ran down stairs past the mountains of camping supplies and clothes to talk to my parents in the kitchen. They said we were leaving soon and that I should start packing all of the supplies into our trusty old Ford Expedition. After about 20 minutes of packing our SUV to the brim with all of the things we would need to survive in the wilderness for a few days, we said goodbye to our three cats and headed for Steelville Missouri.
Florida was a type of hell I'll never come back to. I'm glad I left. Even though it was bought in 1819, some fifty years ago, I was in need of new gullible breed to hustle. Florida had been sucked dry by Jeff “Hands” McCoy. Admittedly, I miss my partner in crime and my adventures would have been a lot more…. well, adventurous. Fred, I’ve missed your expert ability to handle the people with ease, which I'll never be able to do. I honestly expected for this trip to only last a year or two. I had never thought that it would be, what, ten years. Looking back, I don't think I would've changed one bit of the journey. Maybe in the next couple years or so I'll be able to come and visit you over a Transcontinental Railroad. I hear that Congress may
We arrived at D.C. The imprisoned citizens cheered to find themselves freed from the grasp of chains. I smiled a little. I got off the horse and so did Jonathan and the little kid. I tried to pet it again. Its head pushed against my chest softly and snorted, “ what should I name you stallion?” I thought for awhile and found a name for the horse, Night’s-Edge, Night for short. I pet Night’s ear and sighed then put her on a stall to wait for my return, “ i’ll be back, Night. I promise” Night snorts then looks away and eats the grass. The little child that was on Night with me and Jonathan tugged at my pants a little to get my attention. I looked at the child and he looks at my eyes with fear, “ what’s the matter?” the child looks down and whimpers
Thanks again for your help! That's wonderful to hear! I'm actually back in Dunellen working with my father and doing some subbing here and there. I would be interested in providing information and help on the Valley Forge Encampment, however, I do not have many materials or props about the park or the encampment. So, if you don't think it would be in your best interest in coming into the school, I wouldn't mind doing something through Skype or email. Sincerely -Russell Brindley.
It was a blazing, sunny day in Lake Havasu City, Arizona reading a temperature of 120 degrees Fahrenheit out on the back patio. The hot air felt like the inside of an oven against a human being’s skin. As a Lake Havasu City native, little seven- year- old Scarlett Suzanne had no trouble at all swimming in the pool at such extremely sizzling temperatures. She would play for hours on end pretending she was Ariel from “The Little Mermaid” until her mother would have to drag her inside for supper. Although Scarlett was practically a fish in the water, she was not allowed to go outside unless her mother was home or was watching her.
He stopped then I got out and continue one a road that lead to my house
Saturday night in Muncie there was definitely only one place to be. It was a little hole in the wall bar named Valhalla. This bar is amazing. It's small but has a wicked light and sound system that puts bigger clubs to shame. And the place was definitely filled up with others like myself trying to get a taste of the Hoosier Heavy that is the Muncie metal scene.
What comes to mind when you think of Flint, Michigan? I think of a city filled to the brim with crime and thousands of unemployed workers. A place where you can’t use the water in your own house because you are afraid of getting lead poisoning. As it was once deemed the worst place to live in all of the United States, it is probably hard to think of a time where it was any different. Well, Flint was not always this way. Believe it or not, it used to be a prosperous and beautiful city that was home to one of the richest businesses in the world, General Motors. So you might be wondering, “Why did this amazing place turn into the wasteland it is today?”. Everything that is happening in Flint right now is due to the horrible decision Roger Smith
I see young mothers waddling after their toddlers with their projected pregnant stomachs, and the men calling each other slang terms that are deemed “manly.”
We were walking down the step path in the rainforest of Puerto Rico. We spotted a dad and his daughter and started to talk them. They told us that their was river up ahead with some rocks you could walk on. We had a small conversation with them and then parted our separate ways. We decided to go check out the river.
I was so scared that this Man, Guy, Kid was going to steal my and leave my brother and I stranded that as soon as he turned to pretend to look over at an area waving other people to come our way I grabbed my brother and somehow was able to get us to escape him with my bike and my brother back on the bike riding on the seat while I pedaled my life away. I soon realized that this guy was trying to steal my bike so I peddled and peddled like never before! I look back and noticed a few other kids on bike coming after us from a far enough distance that I was able to quickly turn into the trail I discovered and I knew for sure no other person knew about. Once I turned into this trail I looked back and saw them all pass by without any idea that I had turned into this path.
Sandy sits next to Morris’s bed, scanning through a real estate magazine. Morris has his eyes shut. Dr. Yish enters, standing tall, his persona exhibits overconfidence. Olivia stands next to Dr. Yish but she is much shorter in comparison to him.
We got out of the car and walked up the rocky, dirt driveway. My feet kicked the dust up like when a car is driving on a dirt road. My dad knocked on the small white door and out came an Amish man with an
