I am currently a senior this year and will be graduating at the end of May with the Class of 2016. I will be attending Dixie State University this Fall 2016. My intended major is Criminal Justice with emphasis in Corrections. I have always been interested in the Criminal Justice system, the way they use evidence to solve hard cases and how much Criminal Justice can make a difference to society. I also want to take that knowledge and bring it back to my community to help improve the Criminal Justice system on the Navajo Reservation including other neighboring different tribes. We have all seen the imperfect police officers and how they treat other ethnic groups or people who are in need, I want to show people that not all police officers are …show more content…
One of them is getting as much scholarships I need and graduating from high school. Also prepare to get ready for college so I have enough money to pay for college. That’s including my housing, books and other financial need while being in college. My long term goals are to have my Bachelor’s degree and have the career in Criminal Justice. It’s a long way off but I intend to strive for my dream to become an agent in the law enforcement. Obstacles that might cause me to take a longer route and affect my goals are most likely not getting enough money to pay for my financial need for college. Knowing that people do go into debt and have a difficult time paying back. It scares me that I might end up in the same situation and may stop me from achieving my goals and dream to become an agent. I plan to get as much scholarships as I can, if need to, seek employment to help with my financial expenses and to have someone guide me where I should …show more content…
Being Miss Monument Valley High School, I traveled to special events sharing my traditions and culture that my family has taught me. Along with teaching the young lady’s about our culture, I also helped with Food Bank and the people who had donated a truck load of water for our community when our precious San Juan River was contaminated by the Environmental Protection Agency. Having to represent my community, family and school was an honor. Now that I will be considered an adult, I will still be able to represent my people and community. There will be various opportunities for me to participate in other communities to continue helping. Showing people out there what I was taught here at home and let other people know that my people still do practice their traditions. They each have a meaning and a story behind those

Setting goals give me the motivation I need so that I know I am working toward something I really want. My goals are my reminder that no matter how hard the task maybe I must take each one of them head on to accomplish them. Goals may change along the way however the result of them will never, and that is the feeling of success and accomplishment that I will feel knowing I’ve done all I can and set my mind to.
Law enforcement is a career that is both violent and rewarding in many capacities. Justice needs to be served in law enforcement and they have a responsibility to uphold the law and serve the people in the community. Law enforcement is crucial in the world today as a global realm as life continues to be more complex and law enforcement struggles to combat many aspects of crime. In order to combat these problems and have a positive future in the criminal justice system, everyone must work together on a bigger scale.
There will always be a fight for justice, and where there is crime there are those who must solve them. I wish to pursue a career in the criminal justice industry, mainly working as a forensic science criminalist. Those who use scientific logic and evidence found at the scene of the crime to solve the case, The heroes who don’t wear the labcoats instead of the black and blues. Heroes like these need certain skills, interests, and values that make them an official criminalist.
When I first started college, my academic goals were to learn as much as possible, join a Christian fellowship, get into the criminal justice program, decide whether or not to go to graduate school, and to graduate in four years. In addition, to also to either get a job or get accepted into an internship. My overall goal was to enjoy and make the most out of my college experience. My career goals back when I was a freshman, were to figure out if I want to join law enforcement or go to law school and find a job in the field of criminal justice, while being happy working the job. Over the course of two years, some of those goals have been achieved and some goals have been changed.
First and foremost, getting my diploma is number one on my list. Graduating is my goal right now. I will do anything to get my diploma and get into college. Graduating is important to me and I don’t plan
Growing up I was always dealing with adversity. First it was my father needing surgery for his back. Later, resulted in him becoming disabled and being out of a job. Then, I was getting bullied along with my friends. After a while of this, I had enough of being defenseless and started to stand up for myself and them. This was what motivated me to want to pursue a career in Criminal Justice. I wanted to protect people from the wrong-doing of others because I knew what it felt like to be in that situation. The only difference between them and me is, I’ll always be there for them when there is a cry for help.
A criminal justice degree is an academic program that studies criminal behaviors in relation to law enforcement, communities and the legal and court systems. Students learn about crime prevention methods and that agencies that promote safety and lawful behavior.
The role of the criminal justice profession is to protect and to serve our society by enforcing the laws that govern us. Those that take the responsibility to defend justice and to uphold the laws that govern us without prejudice are depended on and respected. Our system of criminal justice focuses on the definitions, causes and prevention of crime, along with a legal process that tries to implement methods of treatment and rehabilitation to offenders. The criminal justice system suggests that drug offenders receive treatment through a variety of options, such as sending nonviolent offenders to treatment and using the treatment as a condition of incarceration, probation, or release.
Criminal justice provides such a wide variety of subjects that finding a job in the industry is relatively easy it also affords criminal justice students a wide leeway when they are searching for jobs. Criminal justice degree jobs can range from law enforcement to the judicial arena, allowing students to pick and choose how much education they wish to fulfill over the course of their lives. Many choose to go the law route and spend a few more years in law school to become defense attorneys while others realize they can use their criminal justice degree in the courthouse without a J.D. by simply becoming a court reporter, court coordinator, clerk, or bailiff. While these jobs all require experience, it’s not as demanding as becoming a defense
With graduation drawing near I am excited and ready to put my Agricultural Science degree to use in an industry that I am extremely passionate about. Throughout my time at Cal Poly, I have been working for the San Luis Obispo Police Department as a Student Neighborhood Assistant Program Officer. Before I began working at San Luis Obispo Police Department I had always planned on a career in law enforcement, but with graduation quickly approaching I am not certain that is the career path I am meant to take especially with the public's perspective of peace officers today. I can say that during my time with the San Luis Obispo Police Department, I have gained an immense amount of skills through first hand experiences such as organization, leadership,
The career I am going to be pursuing is criminal justice. I am going to apply for the border patrol, an opportunity that one of my fellow law enforcement officials has pointed out to me. As far as my interest in the career, I have had an interest in becoming a police officer for a long time. This has been my career interest since I was eight, thanks to my cousin who is now a detective for Minnesota. My target goal is to one day become a detective for the Detroit or for the Federal Government. This career is not only the career that I have passion for but I feel myself exceeding in the field.
I’m interested in the law enforcement career path, and there are a lot of different paths you could take in this career choice. This career got my attention mainly because, I find solving mysteries and crimes very intriguing. The origin of this occupation came in during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, coming into America from England. “Generally speaking, the constable became responsible for law enforcement in the towns, while the sheriff took responsibility for the counties” (Stinchcomb 3). The educational requirements for this occupation at a minimum are as high school diploma or GED. Our high school provides us with a forensics class you can take your senior year, and we have an athletics department that you could join anytime
I would like to be enrolled in the law enforcement program as I would like to gain more knowledge about the background, applied skills, and specialized knowledge that a law enforcement occupation would acquire. This program would also allow me to gain exposure to various criminal justice careers and would benefit me and my future goals of becoming a police officer, as I see myself upholding the law. I also have the motivation and drive of keeping the people around me and my surroundings safer, while dealing with unexpected situations. The Justice Institute would allow me to achieve the greatest output of work and obtain hands on experience and awareness of the criminal justice system, showcasing what a law enforcement related field is like.
Over the last seven weeks students have dove into the study of research, receiving an introduction to a deeper level of conducting and reinterpreting different research methods. Questions such as, “What have you learned about research at an introductory level?” and “How do you evaluate or critique this from a biblical, Christian perspective?” will be answered in the personal case study that will be conducted on myself. The fascinating thing about research is that every individual conducts it in a different way. Though the case study helps set up a problem-answer- solution type model, individuals use personal explanations in illustrating the problem and indicating a means to solve this problem within the case study itself. The information that I have observed at an introductory level has been briefly composed in this case study.
