A career choose, what I choose is criminal justice. Why I choose it? Since I could remember I loved mysteries, so branching out to the part of a homicide detective seemed great. What’s the best kind of mystery? Most people love a good murder (to solve). I could help people out, give them closure when they have lost a family member. It hurts so much more, when they are taken away from us. By someone else, Death is very hard on the family, but when a person’s life is taken away by someone else it makes it so much harder then normally. So being able to help the family would be one of the best parts of the job. But the other part, like putting a killer away is good as well. Most the time detectives don’t have to have higher than a high school degree. They would like them to have a college degree. At least a two year one, four would be great. Even though you still have to work yourself up the latter, which could take many years to do so? Most reports say and quote “it will take five or six years to even become a homicide detective,” let alone anything higher than that. It takes a lot of hard work and patience, to be able to have success in life. Trying to prove yourself to the superiors (like kind of the boss) to move up in rake. That means you always want to look your best because who …show more content…
It’s a cop able to solve murders. Have you ever watched a murder movie and you pause it a million times just so you can guest who the killer is. If not okay, I do. I always was into that kind of stuff. I want to make a difference in life, save lives. Make the world a better place anyway I can. If catching killers will help do that then, that’s what I will do. Do you know how many murders aren’t solved by cops? There are thousands; the numbers are just going up by the day. I want to get closure for the family. To be able to solve the mystery, that is left behind. For the family, not knowing why this could happen to their little
A patrol officer is responsible to enforce the local, state, and federal laws in a community. They also have to protect the people from crime and help the department create a good relationship with the community. Now depending on the department it might take two to five years before getting promoted into the next stage as a detective. Most departments however, prefer an officer that has a degree in criminal justice. A detective is responsible for looking at cases finding out who created the crime. After being a detective, the next step is to be a detective supervisor. A detective supervisor is responsible for all the other detectives. They are also assign cases and make sure that the department runs well. The next chance of advancement is to be a police sergeant. A sergeant is the one that gives everyone something to do. They also lead and represent the police department. If everything goes well the advancement will eventually lead to the city’s
Homicide detectives require a lot of training, but this career also requires a bit of schooling. In order to be a homicide detective a person must have a high school diploma. After that their is a requirement of three years as a patrol officer. To become a police officer there is also the police academy training. From there they would have to work up and then have a commanding officer put in a request to be put on the homicide division. Although homicide detective is a career, it is not a guaranteed job.

Alcohol and other drug use are associated with a wide array of other public health problems. It is the leading preventable cause of birth defects in the United States, whereas fetal exposures to maternal illegal drug consumption are a serious and a growing concern. The use of injection to administer illegal drug has become a significant factor in the spread of Aids while alcohol use increases the likelihood of unsafe sexual practices, thus contributing to the spread of HIV/Aids. Much more, it has an enormous impact on the criminal justice system in the country-America. According to Keck, ‘‘a survey suggests that about 35% of those committing crimes are mostly under the influence of the concepts-(alcohol and drug use), (2003). Having said that,
In the United States so much is constantly changing within our society. Our perception has changed and continues to do so and as they do so does everything else. When how we think changes our society changes. When our society changes the way our society operates changes. This is true in any facet of our society in the United States and pertains to every aspect in which we operate. These issues are not limited to us as a society; they also extend into our criminal justice system and our court systems. In this paper we will take a look into issues that currently face our court systems. We will attempt to identify the current and future issues that face our courts and court administrators in our society today. In our analysis we will attempt to
Leaders of the criminal justice system need to think strategically. A challenge for public administration in the 21st century is to recognize the relevance of these
In criminal justice research is the basis for maintaining an effective system. It helps to discern what methods of correction or deterrence are most impactful, what mannerisms, behaviors, and events drive criminality, and what crimes are most prominent in our society among a slew of other things (Maxfield, Babbie, 2015). Research is detrimental to the propulsion of our society as a whole, and within our criminal justice system, it can be the difference between the procurement of a functioning society and anomie.
Since childhood the field of Criminal Justice has always intrigued my interest rather it be police officers, judges, security guards and so forth. As I got older, the more I seen and personally been threw the more my love and interest for the criminal justice field grew. At first the thought of being a police officer and proudly being able to wear the uniform that so many people had respected was something to really look forward to. As time pasted I slowly became introduced to the field known as forensic science and crime scene investigations, luckily for me I had and still have a mother that has just as much interest and love for the field as I do. Watching all the CSI shows, forensic files, snapped etc. became a pass time that we would and still do enjoy doing together, not just watching but discussing it and trying to figure it out before the show did the reveal.
There are several stages to the Criminal Justice process. The process generally begins with a crime that has taken place. Once there is a crime committed law enforcement officers start with the investigation process. During this process facts are gathered, and witnesses are questioned in hopes of finding suspects.
Immigrants who have illegally come to the U.S.., and have criminal convictions are being released from detention by the U.S. because their native country refuses to allow them to come back. After prison, Immigrants with criminal convictions are sent to a detention, in which they have to spend six months if deportation is not available. Due to this situation, many people; advocates and lawmakers in particular are enraged. Advocates and lawmakers believe that the U.S. could do much more to pressure uncooperative countries that refuse to take back their citizens. However, there are several difficulties that prevent the U.S. from taking action. It is forbidden to keep immigrants in custody when they can’t be returned to their homeland, therefore
A topic I find extremely engaging is that of the Criminal Justice field. The technology that has been developed over the years to solve cases is extremely interesting and sometimes it is hard to believe how new some of the technology really is. Take Gel Electrophoresis for example. Gel Electrophoresis uses electricity to separate out different DNA fragments by their size as they move through a gel matrix and was created in the 1970s. Gel Electrophoresis allows for investigators to take DNA from a crime scene and to process it to get a simplistic visualization of the DNA collected which they can then compare to the DNA samples of the different suspects. Since the development of Gel Electrophoresis, DNA profiles have been used to solve a plethora
I attended a Criminal Justice Club meeting. We discussed what everyone would like to get out of the class and their careers in criminal justice they want to pursue. The club discussed setting up practice reenactments of doing the specific job. Some of the people wanted to be Criminal Profilers, Forensic, and Agents. I think this club would be good for me. The club would help me know if I want to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice. The club would also help me learn more about the Criminal side of careers in everyday
From since I was a young child I have always wanted to go into the field of Human Services. As I have grown I have decided that I would go into the Criminal Justice side of Human Services. By this I mean that I still want to help people, but I want to help people who have become criminals or who are on the path of becoming criminals. I especially want to help children and teens who have been in and out of a Juvenal Detention Center. From this passion I have decided that I want to go into one of three careers. These careers are as follows; Juvenile Defense Attorneys, Juvenile Counselor, or Juvenile Corrections Officer.
We the people of the United States depend on the Criminal Justice system to prevail and never fail its citizens. Criminal Justice System is the ideological institution responsible for the protection, preservation of, and adherence to the civil rights and civil liberties expressed within the Constitution of the United States. The Criminal Justice System is obligated to defend, and uphold the legal rights of citizens in the event of the suspicion of criminal activity, the investigation process, and protocols within arrest and or sentencing. We want the fair and just court system and individuals that work for them to do what right. What happens when the justice system fails to do its parts? Many times it seems that they get away with and very
Have you ever wondered how police officers know who to arrest for a crime? Well in order to catch criminals, evidence and witnesses must be gathered. Those who perform these tasks are known as detectives. Detectives are also known as criminal investigators. I have always liked solving mysteries and, that is exactly what detectives or criminal investigators do. I was inspired to pursue this career by the television series “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit”. I watch this series a lot and, the show gave me a televised perception of what the career might be like. There are many risks when considering becoming a detective. However, the benefits and end results outweigh the risks and disadvantages of becoming a detective.
