California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory (CCTDI) was implemented in order to collect quantitative data, and this particular inventory was designed to measure the disposition to think critically. Open-ended interviews were implemented to access candidates’ opinions regarding the method applied within the course, and independent t-test (or statistical hypothesis test) samples along with paired t-test samples were used to analyze quantitative data. Results indicated candidates had a positive outlook regarding the Moodle platform’s online argumentation application and the improvement it provided in critical thinking skills. Argumentation implementation is a modernized, structured approach for both students and teachers alike to engage in basic reasoning strategies, which in turn enhances any educational program if the individuals involved are comfortable sharing ideas/opinions/perspectives, asking questions, asserting and supporting arguments, as well as having the ability to …show more content…

For example, while a student might recognize an ad hominem argument in a classroom exercise, it is quite another thing for him or her to avoid the same in interpersonal relations, say with parents, siblings, and peers. One approach to this problem is the creation of interaction software to which students can turn for input on the rationality of their own thinking. Students can then speak to computers rather than instructors about their private lives without having to share confidential information with any

Voltaire once said, “No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thinking” (“Voltaire Quotes”) What Voltaire intended to convey was that extensive and critical thinking can allow people to arrive at rational solutions to problems. This is one of the reasons why the significance of thinking critically has become a popular issue that is discussed about in educational systems nowadays. It is imperative that students develop critical thinking skills and not just blindly be taught what to think, but rather how to think. Pure memorization will not lead to authentic learning; instead, encouraging critical thinking is what will help students evaluate problems and make reasonable decisions.
