Globalization is the process of international integration arising from the interchange of world views, products, ideas and other aspects of culture. To better understand globalization and how it can impact someone in different ways, I interviewed two people. The first person I interviewed is Jane Beamon. Jane is the General Manager of Off-Highway Business for Cummins Emission Solutions. Cummins Inc is a global power leader that designs, manufactures, distributes and services diesel and natural gas engines and engine-related component products, including filtration, after treatment, turbochargers, fuel systems, controls systems, air handling systems and electric power generation systems (2017). Cummins is also a leader when it comes to globalization and how it can play a role in the success of a company. When asked how globalization has impacted her community, Jane was very supportive of globalization. “What makes America great is the merging of different cultures and the many benefits that are a direct result of that merging." When asked to clarify, Jane stated:" the rise and popularity of cultural festivals and events yearly is confirmation that Indianapolis has embraced other cultures." When it comes to businesses that are present here, Indianapolis is a melting pot of franchises as well as locally owned ventures. Take Ikea for instance; most people are not aware that it originated in Sweden advised Jane. When it comes to affordable shopping and convenience, globalization
“Globalization is a process of interaction and integration among the people, companies, and governments of different nations, a process driven by international trade and investment and aided by information technology. This process has effects on the environment, on culture, on political systems, on economic development and prosperity, and on human physical well-being in societies around the world” (The State University of New York, 2014, para 1).
Globalization is having a huge effect on most cities across the United States of America, no matter the size, The role it plays is extremely obvious in the town of Columbus Indiana. It has recently started facing more issues of globalization as Cummins, the city’s largest company, has started to expand. They have needed to bring in talent and employees from across the globe. This has changed the way a lot of local businesses run, including Aaron Joslin. Mr. Joslin has worked for his own company since his father hired him out of high school, “I have seen this company grow from a weekend hobby, my father had when I was young, to now being a job that takes more than forty hours a week and an increased warehouse size.”(Joslin).
According to Information System Today, (2014); Globalization will fall under all the categories of technology that move around the world “the greater international movement of commodities”. Globalization has change all aspect on how we do things, from ecumenical changes, cultural changes to technological changes. We are able to manage various things around the world with the comfort of our home (Schneider & Valacich, 2014). A perfect example of globalization would be the following: Leaving in Texas but having your clients or major business deals in Puerto Rico and been able to do it all from her home in Texas without having to do much traveling or no traveling at all. Been able to have conferences and meeting with different people around the
“Americanization” is one of the principal concerns that largely represent the world culture aside from the homogenization that supposedly to take place the new globalization of culture. The dominance of American market and great influence of its political system impacted cultures. For instance, patronizing the American Pop culture especially by the teenagers of other countries, contribute to the proliferation of American market in terms of trade and services. Exposure to prior cultural trade somehow affects others’ local and national culture and there are people who believe that it undermine cultural identity.
Globalization is far reaching in this day and age. Globalization is the worldwide flow of goods, services, money, people, information, and culture. It leads to a greater interdependence and mutual awareness among the people of the world (Tischler, 2011, 2007, p. 430). One non-Western culture that has been impacted by globalization is China. An example of the impact of globalization on China is their economy. Since joining the World Trade Organization, China has transformed from a culture that relied on economic self-sufficiency and shunned the thought of globalization to an economy that is progressively more open to trade and foreign investment.
Globalization refers the movement toward globally similar social attitudes, linguistic, global trades, through increased connectedness among countries and individuals worldwide. This globalization allows citizens to discover and explore other cultures. As globalization occurs, local cultures need to take an active role. With actively engaged local cultures, globalization can be a win-win situation in both world and local cultures and can lead citizens throughout the world to have more respect for other cultures. Moreover, the cultural globalization would not threaten the local cultures, also the globalization of culture can be considered as suitable phenomenon where the culture and knowledge spreads between East and West.
Globalization is the process whereby which there is integration and interaction amongst people, organizations, companies and governments of different countries. The process of globalization started a long time ago with the initiation of foreign trade with different countries. In recent years due to great advancement in technology, effective communication and better relations Globalization is a very common aspects of businesses, governments and other social segments of society. The process ‘has’ and ‘is’ effected by the social, cultural, economic and political aspects of different countries around the world. According to Thomas Friedman, globalization today is “farther, faster, cheaper, and deeper.”
Globalization is a process that connected the world and has exposed people to one another. According to Campbell, globalization is defined as a “complex web of social processes that intensify and expand worldwide economic, cultural, political, and technological exchanges and connections” (Campbell & et al, 2010, pg. 4). It has become easier to connect with people all over the world and mix cultures. Globalization creates new social networks, multiplies existing connections, expands and stretches social relations and connections, intensifies and accelerates social exchange, and appears as objective and subjective plane (Steger, p.9-15). It has become a new way of life for modern people and it would be impossible for nations to become isolated again.
Globalisation is the “process of interaction and integration among people, companies and governments of different nations”. This subsequent process has led to the erosion of cultural diversity and language, whereby Western culture and ideals have extinguished other beliefs and practices, ingraining the idea that western is ‘best’ and other ways of living are immoral or unethical. This wide scale homogenisation has allowed extremist groups such as ISIS to take advantage of the impressionable or naïve, as well as encouraging hazardous global ties and bigotry within the global community.
In modern society, the increase of globalization will generate a less insular world, ultimately uniting an economically progressing society. Globalization has increased knowledge, employment, international relations and has undisputedly promoted cultural blending. The insertion of globalization activities has developed numerous beneficial contributions for penury countries, primarily, saving millions of people from starvation and disease. Inevitably, the integration of globalization will transpire a globalized society, leading to peaceful world relations and an increase in health and financial assets.
By this extra question answer with follow American Popular culture influenced cultures worldwide and few discussion that why spread this popular culture related to globalization with benefits and drawbacks of the spread American culture on non-Western Societies. Every one of the cultures are getting to be Americanized. As it were, American popular culture is spreading everywhere throughout the world and changing every one of the cultures to it. By and large, globalization of a specific culture is making every one of the countries like each other. I trust globalization ought to happen, to some degree, yet not to the level of devastating cultures and exploiting other countries' cultures. Globalization enables growing underdeveloped nations
What is globalization and what effects will it have on businesses and their leaders? According to globalization101.org (n.d.), “Globalization is a process of interaction and integration among the people, companies, and governments of different nations, a process driven by international trade and investment and aided by information technology.” Globalization occurs when companies expand outside of the borders of their home country, and it involves recruiting the best human resources available around the world as well as utilizing the latest in technology and training. The business leaders of today need to be able to communicate across cultural divides as well as using training and technology effectively in order to compete on a global level.
Globalization, has taken place for centuries, is the shrinking of geographic that accelerate the flows of money, goods, people and culture around the planet. Migration came when people move between countries either temporarily or permanently, to seek education and employment or to escape adverse political, environments. Culture and globalization have infinite impact on each other. Humans have never been closer together than we are today. Globalization, started from the intercontinental migration taken place in early modern age, impacted by economic and politic; it is also the driving force for international trade and rapid improvement of communication.
Globalization simply defined is the intensification of global interactions. The case studies we have studied depict two of the main types of globalization. Economic Globalization, which is the production, exchange, distribution, and consumption of goods and tangible services, and Cultural Globalization, the exchange of materials and symbols that represent facts, meaning values and beliefs. When Globalization occurs it usually has a major impact on indigenous cultures. Optimists or “champions” state that the relationship between culture and globalization has positive effects as it creates a balance between nations. Conversely, critics state that relationships between the two have negative effects, leading to the loss or deterioration of a
Globalization has been happening for several centuries. From a sociologi-cal perspective, “Globalization…is an ongoing process that involves inter-connected changes in the economic, cultural, social, and political spheres of society. As a process, it involves the ever-increasing integration of these aspects between nations, regions, communities, and even seeming-ly isolated places” (Cole, 2017). Globalization is plays an progressively vital part in the way that nations are developing. It can be observed globalization has positive benefits which include financial procedures, technological enhancements, political impacts, health services and social variables. However, it is not always the case that all influences of this phenomenon are advantageous. globalization has introduced contempo-rary challenges consisting of insecurity in business and money associated markets over and inside countries. Global village first proposed by Mar-shall McLuhan and it is “A name for the world, used to emphasize the de-gree to which everything is connected and each part depends on the oth-ers”(Longman). This essay will argue advantages and disadvantages of this phenomenon in social and economic view.
