62-year-old, Dale Bolinger, was arrested for his attempt to eat a 14-year-old girl in England. Bolinger is being held in the U.S. after his move to Nebraska. Bolinger was convicted back in 2014 when he was staying in Canterbury, England for planning to rape and kill a young girl, then eat her shortly after. The Omaha World-Herald announced, he was behind bars for nine years and then released as a registered sex offender on the 4th of January. According to jails records, Bolinger was admitted to The Washington County jail on the 12th of January. Although the wannabe cannibal was detained many people feared his presence or the thought of that in their neighborhood. Convicted rapist Phillip Craig Garrido was born in California on April 5, 1951. Phillip Kidnap 11 year old Jaycee Dugard on June 10, 1991, outside of her home in South Lake Tahoe in California. He kept her captive for 18 years, would constantly rape her. During these years, Garrido raped dugard repeatedly, fed her countless lies and impregnated her twice, Jaycee had two daughters with Garrido, giving birth to them at the ages of 14 and 17.
Ardoldis Chapman, a “closer” pitcher for the New York Yankees was suspended and fined under the baseball’s new domestic violence policy. Chapman was said to have gotten into an argument with his girlfriend in October 2015. It then escalated to Chapman aiming a fire arm at her as she ran into the woods on a neighbor’s property. However, no charges were filed against Chapman. He has made history as the first baseball player to be suspended and fined under the baseball’s new domestic violence policy.

Jeffrey Dahmer was an infamous serial killer and sex offender. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May 21, 1960. Jeffrey Dahmer killed 17 men between 1978 and 1991. He was sentenced to 15 life terms, but was later murdered by an inmate in 1994. His murders included rape, dismemberment, necrophilia, and cannibalism. Since most of Dahmer’s victims were African American males, many people believed his acts had to do with racism.
The inmate, Wes Moore, is in the Jessup Correctional Institute's maximum-security unit, and is serving a life sentence without parole. The inmate was sentenced for a robbery in 2000.
Family/Living Situation – Rick M. Wanty is a 42 year old, divorced father of six children. At the time of his arrest, Mr. Wanty lived with his mother, father, uncle, and his 11 year old son, of whom he had sole legal custody and placement. Also living in the home was the victim and the victim’s mother, though they no longer live there.
Case Summary: Grutter v. Bollinger, 539 U.S. 306 (2003) involved a white Michigan resident named Barbara Grutter and the University of Michigan Law School. Grutter was frustrated by her rejection from the Law School, claiming that the University’s decision was due to a discriminatory admission policy which sought to enroll greater amounts of underrepresented minority students. Grutter believed that white candidates possessed a disadvantage due to this policy and she sued the university. According to Grutter, race was the “predominate factor” in selecting applicants instead of academics. She argued that the policy was unconstitutional and that it violated her 14th Amendment rights.
On May 12, 2016, Billy Counterman was arrested for violating a Colorado anti-threat statute. Billy repeatedly tried to communicate with C.W. a local singer of the song. C. W. blocked Billy and reported him. Billy created another Facebook account trying to talk to C.W. even though the two have never met. Counterman lost against Colorado and was sentenced to prison for 4.5 years.

Her 22-month old baby had been left alone with her body and had subsequently died from dehydration and starvation. He killed a total of 9 women by strangulation in a three year period and was sentenced to life in prison in May 2000.

When we hear the phrase, sex offender, we normally feel repulsed. We think of dirty old creepy men. I for one used to do this, I won’t lie. This is because people like to rush to judgment. But my opinions changed when I came to the realization that it’s not just creepy old men who are sex offenders. I want to talk about them, but not those who are serial rapists or child molesters; they don’t deserve to be talked about. I’m talking about people who are convicted, whether it’s falsely, or unjustly, and have to wear a stamp on their forehead for the rest of their lives saying they are a sex offender.
Jennifer Gonnerman, a New Yorker writer explains , the heartbreaking story about Kalief Browder, an eighteen years old who spent three years inside New York’s Riker Island jail for stealing a backpack of a Mexican guy. Later charges were ultimately dropped. Kalief Browder , who spent three years on Rikers Island without being convicted of a crime. He was arrested in the spring of 2010, at age sixteen, for a robbery but he insisted he had not committed.
