David Stojcevki was a 31-year-old guy who lived in Michigan. He had fighting with his addiction for over 10 years. He know that he didn’t help because he couldn’t do it on this own. He had gone to a doctor and given medication to make the transition to become drug free a little easier. The medication helped to rid his body of the harmful substance that his body had become a custom to. Doing this time he had gotten a ticket for almost 800 dollars that he couldn’t pay. Since he was unable to pay the ticket he was told that he would have to spend 30 days in jail. Before going to jail he had informed the officers that he was on medication to help fight his addiction to drugs. He was told that he was at able to take the drugs while he was in jail.
Many different states have begun sending nonviolent drug offenders to various kinds of drug treatment program the state offers. By doing this, it has significantly reduced the problems with overcrowding. If an individual is arrested and charged with simple possession of a drug and no other crime is being commented, then this person is doing no harm to anyone else. They should be given the opportunity to try and make a change in their life and beat the addiction. Instead, if this person is thrown into jail, they are still going to be an addict with a criminal record now and will not be able to be a contributing member of society. (Everett 1 ).

In July 2015, I received a note and pictures from Lyons Township High School graduate Nick Winner, who wanted to let us know how appreciative he was of receiving the Ken Straube Fire Science Scholarship and how he was applying the award. I was so taken by his thoughtfulness and impressed with what he was doing, that it got us thinking; how can we help and honor the Straube Family for their generosity and how can we show the ‘results’ of Ken Straube’s love and devotion to the fire service and our department. We hope you enjoy!
Easily one of the best women’s basketball players to go through Michigan State University's program. The five foot eight inch guard from Freeland, Michigan was the “ace in the hole” for Michigan State's program for the past four years. Gathering over 2,000 points, setting the all time scoring record, securing the most points in a single game record, and the most three point baskets made in a single game. This superstar received BIG TEN honors all four years of her time at MSU. Jankoska graduated in May, 2017, with a degree in Psychology, and had high hopes of being drafted into the Women’s National Basketball Association, a week prior to graduation. As every college, high school, and even youth league basketball player dreams of being good enough to play in the WNBA, only a few ever receive the opportunity to actually play. Jankoska was one of the few. First round pick (ninth overall), Chicago Sky, saw the talent Jankoska had worked so hard to obtain. Jankoska moved to Chicago to prepare for her first season in the WNBA. She played in a few preseason games, so her coaches could see if her skills were sharp enough to play this season, or if she needed a year off. Jankoska’s off season work, time, and effort payed off and she made the Chicago Sky’s Roster for their season opener, against Minnesota on May 14, 2017.
