With similar effects as the adolescent brain, the brain in love is to be arraigned because it produced an intense obsession that the two lovers had for each other, to the point of overlooking practical common sense. In Helen Fisher’s “The Brain in Love” she states, “Romantic love is an obsession, it possesses you. You lose your sense of self. You can’t stop thinking about another human being” (Document C). The brain in love is so driven that it is as if it controls all the pursuits and actions of the person in love. A brain possessed by romantic love has the capability and motivation to do anything to obtain the love of the other person, including partaking in perilous plans. Moreover, Fisher goes on to say, “That brain system - the reward system for wanting, for motivation, for craving, for focus - becomes more active when you can’t get what you want. In this case, life’s greatest prize: an appropriate mating partner” (Document C). Throughout the play, Romeo and Juliet were faced with countless obstacles to overcome in order to be together. Under those circumstances, their brains in love pushed them to the point where they would both rather be dead than live apart from each other. The brain in love is an obvious component of the cause of their deaths because many irrational or hazardous actions taken during this time were caused by their uncontrollable urge to be
Young love is a very deep immature feeling, which tends to misguide those affected by it, and the affected ones fall too deeply in love, which leads to a tendency of self-destruction. The concept of the young misguiding love is emphasized in the drama, Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet are young when they first see each other and make the mistake of loving each other without knowing their family names. Their deep love without any understanding of the concept of love leads to the young lovers committing suicide, which is a rash decision. They do not embrace their situation, and think about other solutions other than suicide. Romeo and Juliet act on impulse and make rash decisions without thinking about the

In many literary works, there are methods that authors use to make a story better. In The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, dramatic irony is the driving method. Dramatic irony is something in which characters do not know something, but the reader or audience knows what the true reality is. According to some researchers, “A staple of Elizabethan and Shakespearean drama was dramatic irony” (Halio 25). Furthermore some researchers also belive that dramatic irony is very prominent in the play, “ One of the more prominent literary devices in the play is irony” (Sauer 673). Romeo and Juliet, and also their friends and families face a lot of instances of dramatic irony in the story. Dramatic irony creates suspense and adds to

William Shakespeare is widely known for all of his literary works; one of his most famous love tragedies being 'Romeo and Juliet'. A Shakespearean definition of tragedy exemplifies the sense that human beings are inevitably doomed through their own failures or errors, the ironic action of their virtues, or even through the nature of fate and destiny (Sayour, Susan, 2007). Romeo and Juliet is a tragic tale based on two young star-crossed lovers whose deaths ultimately unite their feuding families. Throughout the play, Shakespeare intentionally draws on text structures and language features in order to replicate the attitudes, values and beliefs of Elizabethan audiences and intertwine it into his
In the famous Shakespeare play “Romeo and Juliet”, the star-crossed lovers killed themselves. The characters that impacted Romeo and Juliet with their actions were Capulet, Tybalt, and Friar Laurence. To begin with, one character that impacted the star-crossed lovers with their actions was Capulet. Capulet forced Juliet to marry Paris. According to Document D it states, “… But fettle your fine joints ‘gainst Thursday next To go with Paris to Saint Peter’s Church, Or I will drag thee on a hurdle thither.”
Sarah-Jayne Blakemore is a scientist who conducts experiments with the functions of the brain of all ages. She states “Prefrontal Cortex… [is] involved in a whole range of high-level cognitive functions, things like decision-making, planning… this region… really undergoes dramatic development during the period of adolescence” (Doc A). Romeo was undergoing prefrontal cortex development during his adolescent stage. The days he was with Juliet, his decisions for marriage in a premature relationship shows the effects of the dramatic changes in the prefrontal cortex. In a common relationship, marriage is proposed when both partners know the other partner adequately and is able to “discover the delicate balance [of] fate and responsibility” (Doc E). Romeo’s adolescent brain was eager for the relationship, this made Romeo move rapidly through the relationship. The early marriage between the two star-crossed lovers was performed not knowing the responsibilities that they would have in the future because of their fate. The imbalance of these elements made it very difficult for the relationship to be constant and promptly led to their
Every child knows the fun in setting off a chain of Dominoes, how each piece plays its part in the overall outcome. As we get older we realize the same concept applies to real life. We come to acknowledge the fact that each event in our lives, each person has an effect on our futures. In Shakespeare’s tragedy of “Romeo and Juliet”, a pair of “star-crossed lovers take their life”. This event alone, however, is not the cause of just Romeo and Juliet, but all the people in the fair city of Verona. As W.H. Auden, a poet and critic, once wrote, “”Romeo and Juliet” is not simply a tragedy of two individuals, but the tragedy of a city. Everybody in the city is in one way or another involved in and responsible for what happens". The

I do not even know how and where to start. Words can’t describe your rich beauty, a beauty not just shown outside but within your heart. From the first moment I saw you dancing I knew you were the one. I was already in love with you before I knew. I was captured by your elegance. When we danced, I felt the love it felt like I knew you for a thousand years. When I found out you were a Capulet I began to hate my own name as it was considered your enemy. All I could think about after that night was you. The day we met was the best day of my life I was finally feeling complete. You are truly my other half before you there was something missing in my life to keep me going. Your eyes were shining like diamonds. I still remember the first time we kissed it was the best feeling in the entire world. I wish I could be with
