Death Is The Act Of Dying

Death is something that people must deal with every day in our world, and there are several aspects of death that sometimes the living do not consider. For example, how does one celebrate or remember passed loved ones? What happens to you when you die? How would you like to be remembered? There are multiple ways to answer these questions, and examining differing points of view can be enlightening.

People throught out the world and throughout time all had different perceptions of death. Some people accepted death cause they knew sooner or later it was going to get them and there is no way to escape it. Other people ran trying to escape death cause they were afraid of death but they still could never escape death. Death is one of the few forces in reality that is absolute.

The way that Death communicates with the reader helps them to see many sides of the narrator. Such as their remarks in the beginning of the book, “A small fact: You are going to die....does this worry you?”. They are trying to tell the reader this, so that they aren't frightened later in the novel. Their emotions fluctuate as humans emotions do causing the reader to feel a relation to Death.

There is huge difference between Death and Dying. Death is the end of life, while dying is the process in which you death, also including the choices and actions involved in that process. In “On the Fear of Death,” by Elizabeth Kubler-Ross she describes the different aspects of dying, the final days of individuals who are terminally ill, the grieving process, and how children are treated during the time of death. The dissimilitude in “old-fashioned” death and “modern” final days are presented. Sometimes one has to consider the circumstances surrounding the end of life.

He states that the event of death can be understood by people in three ways. The first way people understand death is that is the ending of the process of dying, this would be viewed as the last trace of life left of the human body. Pelagio calls this denouement death. The second understanding that Pelagio discusses is the point in the process where death is assured, and their is no way to stop it. Pelagio calls this the threshold of death. The third understanding is that one 's life ends when the mind dies and the functions of the body cease. Pelagio called this understanding integration death. (Pelagio, pg 5) These three concepts that Pelagio presents are different ways people can view death and therefore define it.

Death is something every human is afraid of. We know it will happen sooner or later; it is inevitable. Death takes away loved ones, it takes away people that are so important to us. So many people have gone through near-death experiences, which is why those people look at life like it is so precious. Spiritual and physiological hypotheses are about near-death experiences.
