Sacrificial Love

My grandmother has been quoting, “I am a daughter of the King; therefore, I am God’s princess. So I choose to dress like one” almost my entire life. If you see me you will notice that I always looked dressed for church. There is no rule that says I can’t wear dresses and heels the other 6 days of the week. Every day is like getting ready for church to me. I love modest dresses that hug my petite figure. I am not into lots of jewelry, my hair is my main accessory. In the bible most women, men, and even Jesus were known for having long hair. For Sampson it was his power. My long angelic hair is part of my identity.

As a Christian I place my faith and trust in God. He is the reason I walk in confidence. Moreover,
Much has been said about love, but if you search the horizon, you will discover that most of the things written about love are either pithy or cynical.
When you say sports most people would either think professional or the best moments that occurred but there is also a dark side to sports that no one wants to talk about. Many things happened or are happening in sports such as racism, steroids, betting, sex scandals etc. but a topic that has been going on for a while is whether NCAA players should get paid. People have spoken out against this and even try to fight it but the NCAA won’t budge and says that they want to keep the amateurism and if they switch to paying players they would be buying the best players making it professional.
In Atonement, the theme of love is explored in a variety of different ways. McEwan explores many different kinds of love including romantic love, platonic love, self love and family love.
The acoustic structure of manakin mechanical sound can be classified into four qualitatively distinct types: short, broad-frequency pulses; short, low-frequency pulses; aerodynamic whooshes; and harmonic sounds (Prum 1998). Many of the manakin family’s mechanical sounds produce short pulses of sound with a broad and continuous frequency spectrum from less than 1 kHz to more than 5–10 kHz. Analysis of high-speed videos, which show male M. deliciosus, actively drive about 107 Hz medio-lateral oscillations of the modified feathers. This fast-paced oscillation repeatedly knocks the modified feather shafts together across their midline (Bostwick and Prum 2003). Furthermore, analyses of the acoustic structure of the sound shows that the mechanical
Merriam-Webster Dictionary describes sacrifice as ¨Sacrifice-noun sac·ri·fice : an act of offering to a deity something precious.¨ Although that is the true definition ,my idea of sacrifice is giving up something to help another person. It doesn't have to be big , small, precious, insignificant, or important. All that matters is as long as you are helping someone. My father shows the biggest sacrifice of all to me. He gives up his time, money, and life for me to play baseball.
There are many different ways people are allowed to make sacrifices. There are many different type of sacrifices that there can be made, also what the value of sacrifices can bring to the person that is making the sacrifice, and there is also knowing when you need to or feel like making a sacrifice. Different type of sacrifices depends on what the situation is about. The value of sacrifices is how the person that gave the sacrifice feels after. When to make a sacrifice is when you feel the need to help someone. These three categories help people understand what the meaning of sacrifice really is.
“Love” is a savage topic to cover, especially since it’s different when from person to person. My thesis is that love has no definition. There is no one single thing that it is or can be. One person may feel that it’s a passionate affection for another person, while another person may think that it means to embrace or kiss another person. It’s all about perspective and the type of person. Love is a complicated word, feeling, action, thing that no one can explain. Therefore in this essay, I’ll try and explain as many meanings as I can so bear with me!
For many years people have been using the word love but do we really get the concept of love or is it just another word that's in our vocabulary? Is it just a word that we use to describe a strong emotion towards someone or something? I believe that we, as human beings, don't understand the concept of love and that love is just another word.
Love; a common word used by many people today. But, what does it really mean? In the Webster Dictionary, love is defined as strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties. But, it's not just having affections for someone. If a person says they love someone, that means they are patient with that person, they don’t get easily provoked by that person. They are constantly showing kindness to the him or her, and not holding grudges against their love. The lover doesn’t enjoy seeing their loved one get hurt or does evil actions towards that person. Love may be a 4 letter word, but it has overflowing power behind it. This word should not be used lightly.
Here he means basically that love condemns monogamy because it condemns love. I've always thought of love for lack of a better word...'Acceptance'. It basically means accepting diversity and who we all are and what we choose to do with our lives. It cannot be an ignorant love. For instance I was just PMing a user named Marshmallow Moo that criticized me for being an atheist and not having a love for everyone. Well you can't have an ignorant love for murderers. I asked her if she had enough control of the system, what would she do with murderers? Because love does not entail locking them away. But to not lock them away would be an act of dis-love toward the good people that now have to be endangered to murderers. Right? So love can be given
One can love a sister, a brother, a mother, a father, grandparents, uncles and aunts, cousins and friends, strangers, pets, the sunlight on a warm evening, reflecting through a prism, held by fishing line stuck to a little suction cup to a dusty window. You can love food from cake to roast beef, even those tiny individual candy bars that are never enough but just give you a taste of chocolate before you pop in the second one. One is able to love the feeling of carpet between toes or the tension in a hammocks string when you lay in that 'u' position swinging delightfully with each motion of your body. We can declare love for sounds coming from a stereo, love for that particular sound wave in coordination with other
“When you go in search of honey, you must expect to be stung by bees.” ― Joseph Joubert. According the Merriam Webster Dictionary “sacrifice” is defined as “destruction or surrender of something for the sake of something else”. The second definition is “something given up or lost”. Do you really understand the definition of sacrifice? Have you ever felt like you’ve sacrificed something for a greater gain? Sacrifice can be a hard thing to do sometimes but the action that belongs to the word has changed the course of history time after time.
Love is difficult to define, difficult to measure, and difficult to understand. Love is what great writers write about, great singers sing about, and great philosophers ponder. Love is a powerful emotion, for which there is no wrong definition, for it suits each and every person differently. Whether love is between family, friends, or lovers, it is an overwhelming emotion that can be experienced in many different ways.
Love has many different meanings to different people. For a child, love is what he or she feels for his mommy and daddy. To teenage boy, love is what he should feel for his girlfriend of the moment, only because she says she loves him. But as we get older and "wiser," love becomes more and more confusing. Along with poets and philosophers, people have been trying to answer that age-old question for centuries: What is love?
In Plato’s depiction of Socrates, there is a clear distinction between Socrates and sophists. In this essay, I shall argue that this contrast between Socrates and sophist is not as clear as presented by Plato. For this reason, the essay will examine Socrates from Plato's Apology and Meno to consider the reliability of our sources, and contradictions. I will begin by reviewing the term sophist by identifying the typical attributes. I will then consider Socrates' claims that distinguish himself from a sophist, before finally presenting the problem with such distinctions.
