Happiness is a state of mind which takes control of a person’s emotions depending on the occasion one is experiencing or the situation one is involved in. According to Merriam-Webster, the definition of happiness is a state of well-being and contentment. As well as, a pleasurable or satisfying experience. Which in my opinion can be accomplished by assets acquired during periods of time. Money, jobs, and relationships are all examples of fulfillments that affect an individual’s way of thinking. Happiness is expressed differently depending on the kind of mood or stage in life an individual is experiencing. If a person feels tired or sad the happy state of mind is never going to occur. One argument leads to another and things get blown out of proportion. The happy state of mind a couple felt towards each other is gone. All of the sudden happiness has turned into anger. How a person feels emotionally towards an argument can determine whether they achieve happiness or not. Sure those emotions can change, but only if both individuals involved in the relationship change their state of mind once their argument is over. Once the heat of an argument cools down terms can be determined to make room for apologies and forgiveness. Being involved in a relationship can be very challenging, but it is also the most rewarding accomplishment any human being can be a part of. A relationship gives an individual the potential of experiencing love. Which is an emotion obtained between two individuals that generate ultimate happiness. Therefore, obtaining a positive state of mind during a relationship indicates a lead to a happy …show more content…
Some people love their job and other people hate theirs. If an individual works in the strawberry fields sun up till sun down their state of mind will always be misery. Having to wake up every day at five in the morning to prepare lunch and to get ready to go to work will not put a smile on their face. Field workers never brag about how great their job is and that is because their job sucks. A person’s job plays a huge role in whether an individual can express happiness or not. I can personally relate to field workers because I was a field worker myself. Growing up in Santa Maria, California and coming from a Hispanic background family automatically made me an eligible candidate to work in the agriculture industry. Every day that I worked in the strawberry fields I felt nothing but pain. I was never in the state of mind of feeling happy due to my depressed state of well-being. I knew my following day was going to be as terrible as my last. My first days were the toughest. I would get home from work and simply shower, eat, and sleep. I would fall asleep right away due to my unbearable back pain. There were days where I tried to obligate my state of mind to feel happy, but it simply didn’t work. I believe that the happiness state of mind can only be obtained if you're going through peaceful and enjoyable times. One can’t simply just make happiness
Happiness is a feeling that one can include in their lifestyle by paying closer attention to things that make them happy rather than negative
What does it mean to be happy? There are so many definitions of the word “Happiness” because it means different things to different people. According to oxford dictionary, happiness means “The state of being happy”. For some other people happiness can be purchasing of things like clothes, shoes, gadgets. Many people feel happy when they go shopping and get new stuffs, but is that truly happiness? From my own point of view to be happy you have to understand that everything near you is good, you have to be happy with the people around you, do things you know that will make you happy and don’t think about others opinion. Like the say everything happens for a reason, don’t let your past bother you, rather think about your present
Happiness is a thought of utmost satisfaction one feels, even though all odds are against us. It is a choice that we make in our minds as to no matter what happens, negative or positive, our inner self will always be positive. Some people choose to see the negative side of things no matter what. But at the end of the day, happiness doesn’t exist outside our lives but within us. This is a constant choice that we make in the process of life. When we realize that happiness doesn’t depend on people or things but in choosing to be happy, it automatically becomes part of our character and life.
Happiness is something that most people can’t achieve. It's a feeling that most people can learn. You can’t learn feelings like anger and depression. You can learn the steps that can guide you into happiness through fulfilling desires. Happiness is something that could be simple or complex. Seeing a puppy could make you happy or winning the lottery.
Positive emotions also drive us to success, help us make better decisions, reduce the risk of disease and allow us to live longer. In some cases, they even help broaden how we think and act by directing our attention to new information and opportunities. They help build vital social, physical and cognitive resources that lead to positive outcomes and affiliations.” All of this is considering the person has the correct feeling of happiness. A person can pursue the wrong type of happiness,“Don’t
The one thing every living being has in common with each other is that, everyone is in search of happiness. The definition of happiness varies according to the needs of each person. For the same person too, happiness or what they consider to be bliss varies with each moment in time. Every deed we do in this world is with the intent of gaining the perfect state of perpetual happiness. Some chase money in the hopes that immense wealth will confer upon them unlimited bliss. We surround ourselves with luxurious items for the same reason. Others focus on their family and friends for, what more can a person want than being surrounded by loved ones ? And then, there are those people for whom being healthy is the mantra for being happy. The fourth
People tend to feel the most happiness in their daily lives rather than happiness over all. For instance, if someone opens the door for you, does something outrageous, tells a funny story or simply reacts kindly to you, you can experience happiness. Laughing at someones joke can cause you to feel happy even for just a moment. Another definition of happiness in our daily lives is self appreciation such as, getting that new raise, getting an A on a test or even getting into the college you want. These examples all cause happiness in different but still rather large ways. We seem to think that happiness is so difficult to come by, we focus so hard on what happiness is that we don't even realize the simple things in life that are truly making a difference. We can become significantly happy without even noticing. Although happiness seems like it’s hard to find it’s not all that difficult. What’s hard to come by is the feeling of genuine happiness ; genuine happiness is what people truly look for.
The state of being happy is very debatable. Happiness can last anywhere from a fraction of a second to possibly a lifetime. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines being happy as “feeling pleasure and enjoyment because of your life, situation, etc..” Although there are a few set definitions for the word, the definition of happiness can range from person to person. Most people define happiness by naming material things in their life as well as people. Setting goals to achieve one’s definition of happiness can cause them to alter their definition later on and want more than what they already have. This brings to question whether anyone is ever truly happy. In the article, “The Pursuit of Happiness: Time, Money, and Social Connections,” Cassie Mogilner writes about the effect money has on happiness. Mauss, et al, follow the same train of thought as Mogilner in their article, “The Pursuit of Happiness Can Be Lonely,” and explain how chasing happiness can lead to loneliness.
Many people show happiness in many ways from a smile to a laugh, but do we really know what’s behind our happiness? Happiness is derived from the old English word, hap, which means lucky. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary describes happiness as “a state of well-being and contentment”; “a pleasure or satisfying experience” (“happy”). “Happiness encompasses living a meaningful life, utilizing your gifts and your time, living with thought and purpose” (Flora). This is the physiological definition of the word happiness which is agreed upon by neuroscientists, psychiatrists, behavioral economists, positive psychologists, and Buddhist monks. Overall, there are two different types of happiness, one is attitude and the other is a
Happiness is one of the most misunderstood words in our vocabulary. Happiness can have a different meaning for everyone. Some people say it is when you are remembering good times or that your life would be meaningless without it. Some people may say it is when you feel satisfied and fulfilled, that it is a feeling of contentment, and that life is as it should be. Perfect happiness comes when you have all of your needs satisfied.
Happiness means different things to different people and for this reason, I believe that the definition varies from person to person. As with most things, your personal health and inner thoughts such as your desires play a role in your emotional state. On the other hand, some people falsely believe that things (money, a large house, high paying job, etc.) will bring about happiness. This is when the line between true happiness and temporary bliss blur, which is why many people spend their lives searching for happiness without success.
Happiness is not a strange term to us. We usually use that word to express our feelings in every day. Additionally, more than a word, “happiness” is what we really need and always seek in life. However, finding and understanding deeply its meaning is not easy. The online dictionary, “vocabulary.com” defines, “Happiness is a sense of well-being, joy, or contentment. When people are successful, or safe, or lucky, they feel happiness.” Thus, we always wonder if we are happy or how could we be happier in our life. Happiness, therefore, becomes a goal for everybody.
The definition of happiness is “the state of being happy”. Happiness is the feeling that you find in you when you enjoy something. It's more about the little things in life like making memories, kindness, nature, friendship and sleep. Things the money can buy you DOES lead to happiness, but can’t once it
Every individual has his definition of happiness according to his needs and preferences in life. It is, therefore, quite difficult to come up with a generalized definition of happiness. However, happiness can be defined as combining various satisfactions in life and experiencing more positive than the negative emotions (Elkrief 23). To be happy, individuals should use their strengths to ensure that they contribute to a larger purpose in life. That is why volunteers are happier than those whom they help because they have used their strengths to fulfill a better purpose in life.
Happiness is the only thing in this world that is neither measurable, profitable, nor tradeable. Despite this fact, it is still desperately sought by all. They want to have happiness, and want to know they have a lot of it. However happiness, like air or water, is a hard thing to grasp in one’s hand. It is intangible and nebulous. So how do people know if they have it? That is for them to decide. Generally, happiness has to do with an emotional and mental state of welfare that can be characterized through pleasant and positive emotion such as contentment and joy. Like beauty, happiness is indiscernible. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder similar to how happiness is in the mind of a human. Happiness can only be measured on an individual basis,
