Hero’s are made up of many characteristics. They are made up of many events in time that they did something that influenced people or the world. If you look up the definition of hero what comes up is, "a person, typically a man, who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.", and then after that is the example, "a war hero", but that is highly debatable. Personally, I don't think there is an actual definition of hero because everyone has a different opinion on what they think a hero is. For example, I consider a hero is someone who is willing to risk their life for you, care about you, and puts you before them, but when asking a friend of mine what the definition of a hero is for them they simply said someone who saves lives. I personally think that's more of a general definition that describes people that are police officers, nurses, doctors,
The definition of a hero. A person, typically a man, who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Another definition is the main male character in a story, play or film. Let’s think about this for a minute. What does the stereotypical hero look like? Chiseled features and some sort of tight costume or uniform. They display qualities such as bravery, immortality, and an undying devotion to the longevity of the human race. Oh, and don’t forget their superhuman powers; speed, strength, mind reading etc. Does a hero always have to demonstrate physical strength? Does he always have to save the human race in a valiant act of pure courage? What truly defines a hero in every sense of the word? I believe acts of perseverance and emotional strength suit this word more accurately. Or, those who save the human race by teaching and encouraging us to save ourselves.
“A hero is any person really intent on making this a better place for all people.” ~ Maya Angelou. Hero’s come from all different shapes, sizes, cultures, and ages. They don’t have any superpowers or special abilities, but the can reach the heart of others and inspire them with their stories. They grow out of their hardships or help others who have difficulty growing out of their own. Hero’s see everyone as like minded people, instead of focusing on each other’s differences. Three ideas that define a hero are humility, mindset, and selflessness.
“Heroes represent the best of ourselves, respecting that we are human beings. A hero can be anyone from Gandhi to your classroom teacher, anyone who can show courage when faced with a problem. A hero is someone who is willing to help others in his or her best capacity.” (Ricky Martin). Being a hero can shape a community as a whole, some people can make a positive impacts but somehow the hero's might not even be recognized and be unscathed of any praise. But also some people consider others heros but do not fit in necessary . A hero is someone who influences makes a positive impact on a person or community.
Heroes are not in it for themselves, they are guided by what they think is right. To be a hero, one needs to be selfless, courageous and strong. They need selflessness to be humble and put others needs before their own. These qualities truly show the real heroes in both literature and in today’s world.
When one thinks of heroes, names such as Ghandi, Martin Luther King, and Mother Theresa often come to mind. These people had done a lot of favors, courage, helps, and more of things for the people who needed them. The true definition of hero is a man of distinguished valor. Bravery, courage, intrepidity, boldness, daring, and prowess in war are a hero’s characteristics. However a hero is understood to be different to everyone. Upon closer examination, many different qualities than these become apparent. The definition of heroism changes with the context and time. Heroes of the past are not necessarily heroes of present time and vise versa. A person can be a hero for saving the life of one or of millions.
One of the most common aspects of any type of story is a hero. A hero is characterized as a person, typically a man, who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Hero’s are in most cases faced with a conflict. However, no matter how difficult it may be or how many obstacles he/she may face along the road, the hero will always (almost always) rise to the occasion and come out victorious.
For an individual to classify themselves as a hero they have to possess special qualities. These include courage, selflessness, humility, patience, and caring. Somebody could not claim that they are a hero if they were not courageous and eager to carry out any task. This goes along with selflessness because a hero should not base their tasks on personal achievement. A hero should never view themselves as more important than others. A hero needs to be patient with others and care about the surrounding people. This is most likely why heroes do what they do because they care for others. In Hole in my Life by Jack Gantos, Gantos appeared as a selfish, vain, childish man with limited to no motivation yet thinks he is perfect. He is nothing that
What makes a hero? A hero can be born into greatness and lead an ordinary life. A hero can achieve and glory greatness and carry a noble death to their name. What turns an individual into the characteristic of a “hero” will depend on the journey they set upon. From ancient Greek culture, the concept of a hero was built from idolizing a religious figure, a deceased person who received cult honors and was expected to return home bearing prosperity in forms of plants or animals, back to their people. The narrative of our literary heroes deals with a person who is mortal, unlike the Gods, and has to suffer the struggles of their fear of death during their journey to achieve glory and create peace in their world. A hero is supported by other
The idea of a hero can be seen through observations and personal experiences. The typical stereotype of a hero, is a person that has dashing looks, and goes around with muscles larger than the size of their head. Rather than outward appearances, heroes consist of inward qualities that are hard to find in this century. Being a true hero consists of going down the ‘path less traveled’. A true hero will stick up for what they believe in, and not live a life that is looking for acceptance of others. In our society, majority of the people seek for social acceptance, and that is a deadly habit. When people live for social acceptance, they will be societies slave. Out of the very few heroes, Jesus, was the most perfect
Everyone has different opinions on what it means to be a hero and what it takes. The literal definition of a hero is “a person who is greatly admired” (Merriam-Webster Dictionary), and some people may agree with that. Others think that it takes more or different qualities to be a hero. Among these qualities are bravery, kindness, selflessness, determination, hope, and confidence. Those are just a few among many more traits. Qualities like those are found in many people, from the heroes written about in fiction, to the people who live in towns across the world. By saying this, it’s true that everyday people can be heroes, given the right time and place.
What do you think of when you hear the word hero? Ohhh wait, you are probably thinking cool people with cool powers. And I know some people in my family think cool people with cool powers, So I actually asked 5 of my family members and 4 of them said superheroes, except for my dad, he said “I think a hero is someone who puts others ahead of themselves.” After I heard that it really gave me a new perspective on what a real hero is. Having the pure kindness to care for others before caring for one self not only exemplifies heroism,
