Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Analysis

I learned so much about the things I was capable and not capable to do and about the foundation of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority Inc. The lovely ladies of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority Inc. always made me feel very comfortable to the point that I was able to be myself around them. However, when I tried that with the other sorority members it did not felt the same way. The other sorority made me feel left out and uncomfortable when being around them and that’s something that Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority Inc. did not. Being able to talk one on one, ask for help and talk to the ladies like a regular friend was one of the reason why I chose Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority

As a young woman who strives to make a difference both locally and globally, I know that membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will aid in accomplishing my life long goals. The emphasis this organization places on assisting and supporting others through the Five-Point Programmatic Thrust, is truly a reflection of the public service initiatives that I make an effort to take part in. The opportunity to form a lifelong bond with other college educated women, who share some of the same morals and beliefs as I do, is phenomenal. One of the main reasons I was initially interested in Delta Sigma Pi was the professional aspect of it and how it focused on skill development and cultivating a better future. Although I have come to find over the past semester and a half that there is so much more to the fraternity than just that, business professionalism is still the fundamental cornerstone of this organization.

I am seeking membership into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated because I want to grow and contribute my time and talent to an illustrious, originating organization. I aspire to be a part of a sisterhood where I can express myself, and have my skills nourished by prospering African –American women. This summer I was involved in a traumatic car accident and survived, tragically two of my dearest friends did not. On the car third spin I squeezed my eyes shut, and braced myself for a collision. Suddenly, the car jolted forward and flipped. At that very moment I realized that I am here for a greater purpose, and vowed to take the necessary steps to fulfill that purpose. God is not finished with me yet, and I do not want to sit on my Lord.

The three main reasons I am excited to join a sorority include my personal development, loyalty and friendship, and support of my aspirations. As a sister, there is an expectation of social interaction and personal development. I am confident that my experience and communication skills will be enriched by the activities that I participate in, the responsibility I take, and the people I meet. I am looking forward to making friends for life. I think that the atmosphere and set up of a sorority fosters and encourages the development of lifelong friendships through common aims and shared experiences. A Zeta is a woman who is community conscious and action oriented, and as such, someone who is continuously thinking of innovative ways to better the community around her. As a finer woman of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., I believe that I uphold these ideals. Ever since I was a young girl with no knowledge of what Zeta was, I have always possessed this insatiable need to help others. This need to help those around me only intensified as I went through my journey of life. When I learned about our amazing sorority, I not only, became instantly drawn to our founding principles, but also realized the opportunity to serve and reach out to others I would gain through the organization.

My interest in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, started a long time ago, in fact when my first interest was peaked I wasn’t even able to pursue my interest as I was still in high school. I was able to participate in several of the “groups” within Alpha Kappa Sorority Inc., such as the “Roses” and the “Pearls”.

“Additionally, issues of identity and values are important factors in neophytes ' abilities and willingness to learn to write in and for new workplaces, as they must choose between ways of thinking and writing with which they are comfortable and new ways that seem foreign or at odds with their identities and values” (Wardle 285) When I was first accepted into The University of Arkansas, the first thing that came to my mind was to put effort into my grades and into building my resume. Those would be my top priories. Before I knew it I had been accepted into a discourse community of members that were striving for the same ideals that I was-The Greek fraternity Lambda Chi Alpha. Through the proses of being an initiate, I learned life long core values of community between other members. Interviewing the president of Lambda Chi Alpha, Luke Crenshaw, I uncovered the rigorous involvement of academic writing skills and how that plays a giant roll in this discourse community. These benefits are included in the values and beliefs of a discourse community.

The members of the Magnificent Monroe, NC Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated have been extremely busy in the first half of the 2016-2017 sorority year. The Gamma Upsilon Sigma Alumnae Chapter eagerly accepted the Call to Service issued by International Grand Basileus Deborah Catchings-Smith and have strived to make an impact in Union County and the surrounding areas.

Everyone knows about the stroll offs, roll calls, and step shows when an African American Greek sorority or fraternity is the topic. But is that all African American Greeks do is step and stroll? Believe it or not the image of African American Greeks has been tainted and miscued by their entertaining performances. Better known as the Divine Nine, the African American Greeks their hand signs and colors. The Divine Nine is a brotherhood and sisterhood organizations that are called to help the community and give back. These organizations also give women a chance to make a difference. After all, each and every one of the Dive Nine was founded because differences.

A native Patersonian, Audrey McDowell is the daughter of the late Cornell and Laura Parker. Audrey received her early childhood education at Dale Avenue School, and Our Lady of Lourdes in Paterson. She is a graduate of Wayne Hills High School in Wayne. Audrey completed her post secondary education at William Paterson College in Wayne New Jersey graduating with honors with a BS degree in Community Health Education.

Every book is different as most authors would say and you’ve penned several, from your oldest Vampire Sorority Sisters to your latest Beards and Bondage, which one is the most memorable experience for you?

I have really high expectations for myself and what I am capable of this fall at Mount Olive College. I have very high goals for myself and have revised what I believe to be a well guided plan to achieve them. I feel eager and excited to unleash my mind, thoughts and the power of my determination. I know that it’s going to be a lot of hard work and its going to take a lot of time. Also, with that comes the bittersweet of sacrifice, of parts of my life that I am going to have to change in order to succeed. But my grandfather has always told me “anything worth having is worth working hard for.” I am my biggest critic and supporter all in one. I know that the only person that can stop me from doing what I came to do is me. No one else has the
