I really enjoyed the book because I love reading very interesting and right at the
At first, I thought the formatting of the book was a little bizarre, but as I delved deeper into the story, I grew to appreciate the setup of the book and how it showed the eight different perspectives of each of the girls. It really lets you see all the different dimensions and perspectives of what it really meant to be the prettiest or ugliest of each grade. This was great, as it let you see how some girls chose to embrace their label with open arms and how some didn’t let the labels define them. On the other hand, I loved all the characters, but one character that really fascinated me was Bridget Honeycutt. She had me hooked on her story, from her starving herself all summer to her finally learning her lesson.
Although my interest was lost in certain parts of the book, it did teach me a lot about being successful
Reading has impacted my life by having a creative imagination. I read books to see the world and accept opportunities that are given to me. Opening the cover has made me curious what my life will experience and go through in the future. Not only I have gotten smarter to increase my credentials throughout my life, it has made me ambitious to succeed. I feel that education is not just important to read, but to experience how others feel, and how I would express myself to the world. For example, I knew slavery was harsh but it is completely different when you read about their daily life and how extreme things were. The book also allowed me to feel connected to Isabelle and to the time period. I liked Isabelle and her determination, so whenever she was hurt I took it personally and felt like it was my friend hurting. The book gave a realistic account of being alive during the Revolutionary War, which I liked. Many people think of the Revolutionary War as being glorious, but it wasn't, People were shot and killed and if you weren't killed immediately you were taken to a prison and starved.
Then I talked about language and how that was connected to the genre. When it came to language and how by writing this book in letters showed its importance because one can see through the letters how difficult and the people felt and thought about not being to write properly. Not only did it fuse their ability to communicate but complicated day to day tasks. Lastly I referred back to communication and how that connected to genre. For this one I would say the genre showed the most effectively what the lack of communication does to people.
