Mainstream media can be described as mass media that is available to a large amount of people that showcases current events and certain details and even opinions. Mainstream media includes news articles. movies, news networks, etc. One source that most people get their information from in news networks, due to the accessibility, and even the visuals provided, as if the event is being watched in live action. News networks have been around seen the first television news broadcast back in 1939. Three news stations that were broadcasted before cable television even existed are ABC, CBS, and NBC, and they are known as the original mainstream media, since people looked to these news stations for their information on current events. The left side of the spectrum is the Democratic party. Some standpoints of the Democratic party involve those such as pro-choice for abortion, gun control laws, and also maximum government control. On the other hand, the Republican party tends to have direct opposite viewpoints, where they stand for pro-life, pro-guns, and individuals typically do not want government involved with their money and businesses. A political party that has been only recently brought into light is the Libertarian party. Libertarians stand in the middle of Democrats and Republicans, where the idea is “I believe in this, but you can believe in what you want”, which makes it a strong party amongst this generation’s youth. News stations fear the Libertarian party, because it could ultimately result in the destruction of the two main political parties. FOX News describes themselves to be libertarian, and leaning more towards the conservative side. John Stossel, a FOX news reporter, wrote in the online columnist website Townhall, that “free speech matters. If we give in to those who would shut us up, the censors will push until we have no freedom life. John Stossel once worked for CNN, but was fired from the network once it was found out that he was a libertarian. For this reason, Stossel went to go work for FOX, where he would not be judged for his viewpoints, since there are liberals that work for FOX News. Reporters who are anti-libertarian will try not to mention the fact that John Stossel is libertarian, and try to ignore the fact that libertarian is even a party. News stations will censor their information by leaving out information and facts that may appeal to the opposite party, and sway their viewer’s minds to change their mind, and follow the other party. Liberal news stations may discuss information about a shooting, but leave out the fact that the gun that was utilized was legally owned. Instead, a gun control agenda may be pushed, blaming guns for the act of the shooting. News networks use this censorship technique in almost every situation, to showcase only one side of the story to avoid
