The Democratic party believes that people should go through the same things, and the Republican party believes each kid should get to do their own things based on their individual academic ability. The second reason people believe other people should not be a Republican is because Democrats are not pro-choice because Democratic views are better because they support a woman’s right to make decisions about her pregnancy. Social Issues include topics like gay rights, abortion, social services, and women’s rights. The topic abortion is really a touchy subject but the Democrats believe that abortion is a woman’s right and they should have the choice to do so if they want but the Republicans strongly disagree and think that it should be illegal even if the child is a product of a rape victim or incest. (“Democrats Unveil”) They disagree because people have different thoughts and morals they follow and to certain people that’s almost just as bad as murder and they can’t afford a bad image to lose votes even if it makes certain people happy. Republicans values tend to be religious in nature which means Republicans will most likely disapprove of abortions for any reason and disagree with same-sex marriage.

Views between the two major parties of government in the United States have many differences and few similarities. The Republican side of government tends to be more conservative and more for the people’s freedoms. They also support government intervention only when necessary. The Democratic side of government tends to be more liberal and support heavy government intervention. Views between abortion, gay marriage, and many other controversial topics differ greatly between the Democratic and Republican Party.

In today's society, we think that the two main political parties of America, the Democratic Party and the Republican Party are complete inverse. When we look closer, the several gatherings are as a matter of fact exceptionally comparative. Their strategies may be unexpected, but the roots that they are determined from are the same. . These two parties dominate America’s politics but differ significantly in their beliefs. Some instances, many beliefs overlap. So what are the differences between Democrats and Republicans?

In 1792, the world’s oldest political party, the Democratic Party, was founded. During the presidency of President Andrew Jackson in 1830, the party adopted its name as the Democratic Party as it is known now. Prior to the renaming of the party, it was known as the Democratic-Republican Party founded by James Madison, and Thomas Jefferson in opposition of the Federalist Party. The Democratic Party’s purposed served to supported states’ rights and the strict interpretation of the Constitution (Mayne, 1). Correspondingly, providing financial support to family based agriculture was one of their main priorities (Mayne, 1). The Federalist Party, their opposition, consisted of wealthy elites that strived, and fought for one strong all ruling national government, rather than state governments. As the United States had just recently become independent, the Democratic-Republican Party was determined to prevent the United States from becoming a monarchy. Over the next century, the Democratic-Republican party began to split due to the lack of agreement on major ideas which led to the current two-party system. However, some ideologies remain the same such as moral stance, and socioeconomic status. Other ideologies like economic view and stance on government power have caused this split between the Democratic and Republican parties (Mayne, 22). It is imperative to remember that even though these two parties are completely different, they originated from the same party with one main goal; “To create a government that is run for and by its people” (Mayne, 23). I have still not developed a political identity, but over the past three years of my residence in the United States, I am more in favor of the Democratic Party and what they stand for.

America also has not agreed on the government’s budget and economy. The debate is whether government funds should be focused more on programs for the society or a military. The Democratic Party opposes the large amount spent on military. They believe a massive amount of money is required for the government to provide a happy, healthy, shameless, and exciting society for everyone. The programs of society are more important to them than all the money spent on our military. According to them, a huge government staff is necessary to ensure that each and every citizen is doing what they are supposed to be doing. They believe penalizing peoples achievements by high taxes, increased government bureaucracy, and spending will lead everyone to prosperity. The Republican Party would like to cut back on government spending, especially in social, environmental, and health programs. They think we should reduce government programs and increase community programs. National Defense is a priority to republicans, which requires a military budget far greater than previous budgets in any of the major wars. In the past, the Democratic party was known as the conservative, traditional party that fully supported state government while the Republican party was a supporter of the federal government control. The Republican party began as “Lincoln’s party” which caught the attention and support of the colored voters. In contrast, the Democratic party was predominantly white during this time with ideas to keep the rights of the state and the traditions of the South. Though these two parties have opposing views, they began to clash and redirect their beliefs. Over time the two main political parties have changed their platforms based on the issues of desegregation, racism in the South and placement of federal government.

Republicans and Democrats are basically polar opposites when it comes to political views. Republicans have more conservative views, and Democrats have more liberal views. Whether its tax policy, health care, or social issues, they are going to have opposing opinions on the topic. This is a major reason why gridlocks occur in Congress. If they can’t come to an agreement, a gridlock is going to take place.

In the United States we are divided by the left and right side on the political spectrum; even further divided into political parties such as Republicans, on the right, and Democrats, on the left side. These two political parties show philosophical differences through their viewpoints on major topics such as the economy, separation of church and state, abortion, and gun control.

While the Federalists maintain belief in rule by wealthy class, the Democratic-Republicans support rule by the common people. The comparison between the two political parties, shows how they both rejected a monarchy, but the Democratic-Republicans pushed for rule by the common people, and the Federalists sided with rule by the wealthier class. Both Federalists and Democratic-Republicans completely disregarded the idea of a monarchy. When the Constitution was established, and during the Constitutional Convention, the concept of a monarchy was requested by neither Federalists or Democratic-Republicans.

Republicans want to limit the number of social programs and encourage the individual states to be more active in their own social welfare. Democrats feel that more government is better, where the Republicans feel that the individual states should have more power. Democrats favor gun control legislation most of the time. Republicans do not seem as interested in that issue, and many Republicans can be viewed as pro gun advocates. Democrats favor affirmative action for minorities and women. Republicans favor helping the entrepreneur and tend to give tax breaks to big business. Democrats champion the cause of labor unions, while Republicans realizing that union votes are important, at the same time feel that labor unions have too much power and cost big business too much money. The next set of political differences about the issues of capital punishment and abortion rights are quite paradoxical. Democrats favor a woman’s right to choose, at the same time they are against the death penalty and want to rehabilitate prisoners. Republicans, many of them are pro-life as well as in favor of capital punishment and being tough on crime. Democrats want the government to be more involved in public education, and want more money dispersed for student loans. Republicans want the states to take the responsibility for educating their children and also want to provide vouchers as an alternative to public school. When it came to domestic issues the primary two parties agreed and disagreed on many things such as when it came to induvial rights. They both took many different stances on the issues whether it was gun control, abortion and racial judgment in the criminal justice system.
