One of the skills I improved on was interpersonal awareness. In the first profiler it was low and in the yellow but on my second it was up in the green meaning I have improved that skill over the year. Interpersonal awareness is an important skill to carry in your day to day life. I also improved in empathy, empathy is important in the way it is used to understand someone else’s emotions. Some of the most important skills I need to improve on is commitment ethic and time management. Commitment ethic can be used anywhere. It is one of the most valuable skills. It can either show an employer how you can stay focused and on task or it can show them you can’t stay on one project for too long. Also if you cannot make a commitment to your job you

1A. My interpersonal communication goal that I want to improve is, learning how to start a conversation with strangers. My daily routine/tasks are repeatable. My days consist of taking the two older kids to school, cooking, doing chores around the house, and taking care of my youngest. My youngest child is not in daycare. She definitely knows how to keep me busy throughout the day when she’s not sleeping. Being a stay at home mom, I don’t really get the chance to socialize or speak to strangers on a regular basis. In addition, I love to hibernate and stay home during the winter.
Another skill I bring is enthusiasm. Having someone who is enthusiastic and generally excited to be doing what they are doing can change any situation. Some small examples of this a lot of people can relate to is having a teacher that you can tell loves what they are teaching and interacting with their students. I know classes I’ve had with those teachers I loved going to and I interacted a lot more than I would in some of my dull

Interpersonal effectiveness is defined as asking for what one wants and being able to say no while maintaining self-respect and relationships with others (Psych Central, 2015, p.1). “Individuals with borderline traits or emotional dysregulation often struggle to maintain healthy relationships because they have only learned how to engage with others in a highly emotional manner” (Hall & Flanagan, 2014, p. 238). Clients must learn both how to manage their own strong emotions and how to relate to others in positive and adaptive way. Through individual and group work, the clients are able to build skills in relational areas such as saying no, being assertive, negotiating, validating other, balancing priorities, and being fair and honest (Hall & Flanagan, 2014, p. 238). Interpersonal effectiveness allows the client to interact with other group members in a positive learn environment.

The first strength is found within the opening chapters of the book. Social media and technology is a blessing that can do great things for the church, but often times it is seen as an enemy. Many churches and ministers are out of date in the department of technology. Being out of date in this category is not completely bad, but there are many great benefits from technology that these churches are missing out on. This book does a great job at giving these strengths and encouraging ministers to take advantage of the benefits technology.
The Conscientiousness and Agreeableness traits have been proven to be good indicators of an individual’s team performance (Neuman & Wright, 1999). The combination of achievement-striving and consideration for others can contribute to a team’s success. I have always been a good team player and scored very high in Achievement (See Figure 4) and Altruism (See Figure 5). I am very cooperative and ambitious and I see myself as a team player who genuinely cares about the success of the group as well as the individuals.
Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, and we all can improve on both of them. In my workforce, at CentraState Hospital, I am an outstanding intern, but can always find room for improvement. Some of the strengths I need improvement on would be my communication skills and my ability to manage more than one task at the same time.
There are many ideas from Petersen's book that I can use to apply what I learned to enhance my own interpersonal communication. I will use most of the techniques to help improve relationships and communication with my family members and in the work setting. In the past, when having communication problems, I noticed that what the other person said and what they truly meant may be different. In the future, I will use the decode technique by stating what I heard the person say and then I will ask the person if that is what they meant (Petersen, 2015, p. 62). This technique will be useful to clear up confusion in the communication process both for the listener and speaker.
Some of the skills I learned while working is team-working skills. I am pretty much in a environment all the time where I have to coordinate with other people so that everything goes smoothly. This includes listening skills as well. I developed highly effective organization skills. I also developed satisfactory customer services skills, problem solving, and both verbal and non-verbal

The three skills I would like to work on are converting “YOU” statements to “I” statements, Responding to Criticism and Assertive Communication.
