Describing My Childhood Home

was all I knew. The house was my childhood home. It was a family member to me.

This is my dream home. The house is a two-story house, made of brick with vinyl siding on the front. It has a large front porch, and a nicely made wooden swing. The front door is a broad door made of wood. The columns on the porch are decorated with stone around the bases. There are lovely flower planters, hanging from the overhang on the porch. In the middle of the porch are two outside chairs with and iron table in between them.

My old house was a huge part of my childhood. I lived there for 10 years. All of my childhood memories were made at.

The house my mother couldn't pay for. The house I was embarrassed of. The house I use to love as a child and learned to hate as a teenager.

The fleeting changes that often accompany seasonal transition are especially exasperated in a child’s mind, most notably when the cool crisp winds of fall signal the summer’s end approaching. Driving to Long Prairie, on the right side of the road, up a hill with a long, paved driveway will be a house to the left. This house is two-stories with a basement. The first time I saw it, the house had a worn out, light tan vinyl siding with faded, dark red shutters from years of Minnesota weather. At the end of the driveway was a garage that resembled the houses color. To the right of the driveway was a large stone wall that was overrun with wild grape vines. In the middle of the wall was a stairway that leads to an old, rundown playhouse. Also, there was a large, gray brick shed further away. Beyond the house are the woods, littered with pine needles from the rows of trees my grandpa planted when he moved there. The whole area is surrounded by the overpowering smell of pine, and the silence the woods carries; it brings a calming, peaceful sensation to me. As the years have gone on, the house and I have aged, grown, and changed together.

Home is the place one spends more time in their life and share special moments with family. Where one expects to live permanently carefree and feel protected under the roof of their house. One day I want to have a home that makes me feel well and where I can be safe and happy. The purpose of this essay is to illustrate the decisions I made about designing my future dream house.

My house contains many memories of my childhood is where I grew up, I know every part of it and its secrets locations. When I was a child I used to hide in the attic, nobody would found me because no one knew where it was. My grandmother’s house has a very special place in my heart. As the family has gotten older and we have all had our own children we do not visit as we should. I visited with my grandmother many times when I was little. Her house always seemed to have something about it that set it apart from all the rest. As you walk into the back door of her house you would notice a long, narrow kitchen that led into the main living and dining room of her house. The smell of food home cooked food was quite evident. Grandmother cooked every day and always cooked big meals on holidays for the family.
