In south africa, sunflower is the third largest grain crop produced in the country
2: AREAS WHERE SUNFLOWER IS PRODUCED
The major sunflower producing provinces in South Africa are namely: Free state North west Mpumalanga Limpopo
Sunflower production by each province Table 1
A graph showing areas where sunflower is planted provincially
National level of production of sunflower
Production of sunflower, which is the most crucial or important element of vegetable oil in our country, and it is more (prevalent) in areas which receive rainfall in summer.
Local sunflower seed ranges between 500 000 to 700 000 tons (according to sunflower production guideline of March 2010 of South Africa), and it is increasing rapidly as the production also increases.
The fluctuations in sunflower production are mostly or mainly caused by uncertain price expectations, high input costs and high stock levels. The average yield ranges from 1, 2 to 1, 8 tons per hectare on dry lands.
3: CULTIVARS
A certain or a proper cultivar choice is one method to ensure higher profits at no extra costs
4: CLIMATIC SUNFLOWER REQUIREMENTS
4.1 Temperature Sunflower can be tolerant on both low and high temperatures, but mostly tolerant on lower temperatures The crop is sensitive to higher soil temperatures, when emergence occurs, and this problem is mostly seen in sandy soils of the western Free State and North West thus
occur with bad hay/grass. Those plants need good soil to be good which is something
The results observed do not correspond with the outcome predicted by the hypothesis. Despite the nature of the subjects of the experiments, no substantial growth was observed. Only one seed of the 36 planted germinated, and it could only survive for a period of a week. The one seed that germinated reach a height of 1.2 cm. Table 1 presents the average growth observed in each quad. Each quad had a total of 12 seeds. No seeds were removed during the course of the experiment.
There are many ways to obtain seeds to grow flowers in the springtime, but not all seeds were created equal. Sunflower seeds, for example, can be bought at a garden store in a packet for $1.5 dollars per 6 gram packet, but they can also be found in bird seed for $3.53 dollars per 10 pounds. This experiment intends to find if the germination of a store bought packet of sunflower seeds matches the germination rate of sunflower seeds obtained from a bag of bird seed. While both seeds will germinate, it is believed that the bird seed will not be as robust in growth as the garden seed, due to the fact that the garden seed is made to be grown, while the bird seed is made for consumption.
In Ethiopia, about 4.9 million acres of land is devoted to its production every year. From 2003-2005 production statistics indicated that tef accounted for about 29% of the land and 20% of the gross grain production of all major cereal cultivation in the country (National Research Council).
The Holocaust was a genocide that occurred from 1933-1945, and one of its survivors was Simon Wiesenthal. After he was set free from the concentration camp, he dedicated his life to finding Nazi war criminals and persecuting them in court. Later on in his life, he wrote a memoir, The Sunflower. It was about one of his many experiences at the Lemberg concentration camp where he got roped into listening to a dying SS soldier, Karl. Right before Wiesenthal left Karl’s room, Karl asked Wiesenthal, on behalf of all the Jews he persecuted, for forgiveness. Wiesenthal left Karl’s room without forgiving him, and then asked his readers, “What would I have done?” At the end of The Sunflower, people who Wiesenthal picked to respond to his question, had their answers published. The most interesting response was Jose Hobday’s. Hobday believed that Wiesenthal should have forgiven to Karl because it would have given Karl a sense of peace, making it easier for him to pass on. Hobday had the correct answer to Wiesenthal’s question because even though all of the Jews that Karl persecuted are dead and will not be able to forgive him in person, Karl just wanted someone to know that he was sorry for his actions.
If someone were to partake in the murdering of your own kind, would you be able to forgive them? That is the question that Simon Wiesenthal must ask himself in the story The Sunflower , a book about pain and forgiveness. The Sunflower follows Simon as he listens to Karl, a former SS officer, confess and ultimately beg for forgiveness for the war crimes he committed. It pits Simon against a very difficult situation and even makes the reader consider what they would do. So, from reading The Sunflower and all of the supplemental essays, I can come to the conclusion that I do believe that the Soldier should be forgiven because he was brainwashed by propaganda and felt strong regret for his actions.
The agricultural industry: the farms, plants, animals, and farmers, have supported this great country for so long, but lately we have turned our backs on it. Today, we live in a materialistic society, people wanting more and better items, not settling for products that will accomplish the same job. From looking at the fruits and vegetables in the grocery store, we see the bruised or smaller ones left, while the big and brightly colored ones are selected first. In our society today, changes are constantly being made to help expand and evolve the agricultural industry, but it has yet been able to do so. To this day farmers across this nation have not been completely successful in providing for the people who make up this country. In the stores
2. What are the various methods used to protect sensitive crops from damaging low temperatures? Explain why each method works.
During the Holocaust, many townspeople didn’t bother coming outside and sat as bystanders peering out the window as their Jewish friends get lined up outside. Jews were herded up then murdered like sheep unknowing of what’s gonna happen until it happens. Although everyone acted as sheep, it was that they were fed lies about Jews, they didn’t see any harm until it was too late, and they didn’t want to be killed.
The total sample size would be 300 including vegetable growers (community gardens and allotment gardens), policy makers, managers/owners of ethnic stores, formal seed stores and the planned sample size would be 168 at 2% significance level. However, the sample size could be varied due to some restrictions such as limited amount of time and the unavailability of stakeholders and natural calamities. The findings from this sample, therefore, will be generalized to the population.
These foods are grown using fertilizers, herbicides and pesticide use, and may or may not be a genetically altered plant that grows at a rate many times that of a regular plant. The potato is one such example. Because of the fast growing rates and high crop yield due to the use of pesticides and other unnatural components, this allows the firm to sell the plant at low costs to maximize on their marginal cost (the benefit of producing or selling one more unit of output). If a firm in a completely fair competitive market desires to make money, they will sell more units at a lower cost, so long as the number of units doesn't incur a negative marginal cost.
Such conditions for these plants are things such as temperature and distance from a grow light. According to the pamphlet that comes with Wisconsin Fast Plants, the optimum temperature for the plants is twenty-two to twenty-eight degrees centigrade. There
The demand for corn has greatly increased because of its many new found uses but mainly because it has been discovered that corn can be use as an alternate energy source. This great demand for corn has increased many area of farming and production of corn here and other countries such as Mexico and South America. This great demand has lead to an increase in farmers who are willing to cash in on these cash crops and try to earn a few quick dollars because of the great demand for it. In 2007 Corn farmer saw record profits because famer where getting twice as much for corn as they did in previous years. The same trend continued but farmers dealt with so many obstacle such as weather, bugs and lack of

Soybean is the third largest oilseed crop in India next to Groundnut & Mustard and accounts for 25% of the total oilseeds produced in the country in a year. Soya oil contributes about 10% of total vegetable oils produced in the country. Groundnut is the most widely consumed and traded edible oil determining edible oil economics. India is the world’s second largest
