In south africa, sunflower is the third largest grain crop produced in the country
2: AREAS WHERE SUNFLOWER IS PRODUCED
The major sunflower producing provinces in South Africa are namely: Free state North west Mpumalanga Limpopo
Sunflower production by each province Table 1
A graph showing areas where sunflower is planted provincially
National level of production of sunflower
Production of sunflower, which is the most crucial or important element of vegetable oil in our country, and it is more (prevalent) in areas which receive rainfall in summer.
Local sunflower seed ranges between 500 000 to 700 000 tons (according to sunflower production guideline of March 2010 of South Africa), and it is increasing rapidly as the production also increases.
The fluctuations in sunflower production are mostly or mainly caused by uncertain price expectations, high input costs and high stock levels. The average yield ranges from 1, 2 to 1, 8 tons per hectare on dry lands.
3: CULTIVARS
A certain or a proper cultivar choice is one method to ensure higher profits at no extra costs
4: CLIMATIC SUNFLOWER REQUIREMENTS
4.1 Temperature Sunflower can be tolerant on both low and high temperatures, but mostly tolerant on lower temperatures The crop is sensitive to higher soil temperatures, when emergence occurs, and this problem is mostly seen in sandy soils of the western Free State and North West thus
In Ethiopia, about 4.9 million acres of land is devoted to its production every year. From 2003-2005 production statistics indicated that tef accounted for about 29% of the land and 20% of the gross grain production of all major cereal cultivation in the country (National Research Council).
The results observed do not correspond with the outcome predicted by the hypothesis. Despite the nature of the subjects of the experiments, no substantial growth was observed. Only one seed of the 36 planted germinated, and it could only survive for a period of a week. The one seed that germinated reach a height of 1.2 cm. Table 1 presents the average growth observed in each quad. Each quad had a total of 12 seeds. No seeds were removed during the course of the experiment.
2. What are the various methods used to protect sensitive crops from damaging low temperatures? Explain why each method works.
The Holocaust was a genocide that occurred from 1933-1945, and one of its survivors was Simon Wiesenthal. After he was set free from the concentration camp, he dedicated his life to finding Nazi war criminals and persecuting them in court. Later on in his life, he wrote a memoir, The Sunflower. It was about one of his many experiences at the Lemberg concentration camp where he got roped into listening to a dying SS soldier, Karl. Right before Wiesenthal left Karl’s room, Karl asked Wiesenthal, on behalf of all the Jews he persecuted, for forgiveness. Wiesenthal left Karl’s room without forgiving him, and then asked his readers, “What would I have done?” At the end of The Sunflower, people who Wiesenthal picked to respond to his question, had their answers published. The most interesting response was Jose Hobday’s. Hobday believed that Wiesenthal should have forgiven to Karl because it would have given Karl a sense of peace, making it easier for him to pass on. Hobday had the correct answer to Wiesenthal’s question because even though all of the Jews that Karl persecuted are dead and will not be able to forgive him in person, Karl just wanted someone to know that he was sorry for his actions.
On a cold winter day in Bath on December 30,located in the Bed and Breakfast lodging center,a mysterious disappearance has occurred. Billy Weaver,a seventeen year old businessman was last found in this lodging center. The lodging center’s landlady has denied the accusation of the claim of her murdering Billy Weaver.
The total sample size would be 300 including vegetable growers (community gardens and allotment gardens), policy makers, managers/owners of ethnic stores, formal seed stores and the planned sample size would be 168 at 2% significance level. However, the sample size could be varied due to some restrictions such as limited amount of time and the unavailability of stakeholders and natural calamities. The findings from this sample, therefore, will be generalized to the population.
If someone were to partake in the murdering of your own kind, would you be able to forgive them? That is the question that Simon Wiesenthal must ask himself in the story The Sunflower , a book about pain and forgiveness. The Sunflower follows Simon as he listens to Karl, a former SS officer, confess and ultimately beg for forgiveness for the war crimes he committed. It pits Simon against a very difficult situation and even makes the reader consider what they would do. So, from reading The Sunflower and all of the supplemental essays, I can come to the conclusion that I do believe that the Soldier should be forgiven because he was brainwashed by propaganda and felt strong regret for his actions.

As editor-in-chief of the cosmopolitan for over 35 years, Helen Gurley Brown influenced women by bringing out their sexuality and allowing them to gain confidence through her words and advice. She made women feel as if it’s okay to be single and do what they want without having to be judged by others. Brown influenced woman’s lifestyle through her work as chief editor Influencing women to be independent, confident, and do whatever they please to do. The agricultural industry: the farms, plants, animals, and farmers, have supported this great country for so long, but lately we have turned our backs on it. Today, we live in a materialistic society, people wanting more and better items, not settling for products that will accomplish the same job. From looking at the fruits and vegetables in the grocery store, we see the bruised or smaller ones left, while the big and brightly colored ones are selected first. In our society today, changes are constantly being made to help expand and evolve the agricultural industry, but it has yet been able to do so. To this day farmers across this nation have not been completely successful in providing for the people who make up this country. In the stores
My “bubble” score on this survey was 28 which means that I am more separated from part of the U.S culture because of my low score. Charles Murray expected me to be a first-generation and second-generation, higher-middle class individual with middle-class parents and that I make it a hobby to get out a lot. I find this information mostly correct because I do believe my family is in the middle-class and I make a point to get out, even if it does not happen as often as it should. My parents worked hard when they were younger to get where they are today and give us the name we deserve. I would classify my family in the middle class because of what we can do and afford. Typically, I do not go out much, but when I can, I take advantage of this moment.
While there is some room for error, based off of the differences in students experiments, the data is significant enough to determine which had the higher germination rate. However, this experiment tested only the germination rate, and not the actual flowers produced by either seed. It is possible that, while having a higher germination rate, the bird seed produces smaller sunflowers, while the garden seed produces bigger ones. If one is purchasing seeds based solely off of germination rate or price, however, the bird seed would be the appropriate

The demand for corn has greatly increased because of its many new found uses but mainly because it has been discovered that corn can be use as an alternate energy source. This great demand for corn has increased many area of farming and production of corn here and other countries such as Mexico and South America. This great demand has lead to an increase in farmers who are willing to cash in on these cash crops and try to earn a few quick dollars because of the great demand for it. In 2007 Corn farmer saw record profits because famer where getting twice as much for corn as they did in previous years. The same trend continued but farmers dealt with so many obstacle such as weather, bugs and lack of
producer of groundnut, next only to China. But groundnut being primarily a Kharif (monsoon) crop is vulnerable to vagaries of monsoon and also speculative activities. In 1996, the Government set up a Technology Mission on oil seeds, to increase production of other oil seeds and oil, and to reduce dependence on imports. The strategy followed was: To increase productivity with better farm inputs and practices. To increase area under oilseed crop. To encourage winter (Rabi) oilseed crops. This led to a sharp increase in oilseed production driven mainly by rapeseed, sunflower, castor seed and Soya Oil seed production jumped from 6.1mn ton in the mid 80's to around 22mn ton currently. India is today world’s third largest producer of rapeseed and cottonseed and the largest producer of castor seed. Timely and adequate rain is expected to result in an all time high oilseed production of 142.4 lakh tonnes during the current year as compared
