The Sneak
I scamper through the 16th row in the bleachers at Progressive Field, Ohio. I trip over many feet and get shoved to the bottom of the stairs and then turn to make my way to the bathrooms under the scoreboard. I am looking for Jake who told me that he was going to be by the front entrance by the gates. I am currently at Game 7 of the 2016 World Series. This game is one of the most intense games ever in the sport of baseball. The Cubs have not won a world series in 108 years and the Indians are not much better with not winning a World Series game in the last 68 years. If the Cubs won this World Series, they would be cured from all of their curses that everyone has ever spoken of. If the Indians won, the city of Cleveland will explode with happiness and parties. There were over 1.6 million fans of the Indians and Cubs watching this baseball game and over 40 million television viewers. Both of teams were big name teams that were worth tons of money. The Chicago Cubs are worth a whopping 2.2 billion dollars and the Indians somewhere up there as well. Jake is my 17 year old best friend who I have known since I was 4 years old. We have gone to Hudson Middle school since 6th grade and then moved onto Indian Hill High School. Jake is a taller an rather slim kid who has brown hair and blue eyes. His hair reminds me of my dogs hair, all curly and short. His tight curls make it so he doesn't need to fix his hair in the morning when I have to wake up and do my hair every
Baseball is a game of skill that is played with a hard ball and a bat between two teams of nine players each at a time on the playing field at once. Although many different people play Baseball all over the world it is most popular in the United States. It is so popular in fact, it is referred to as the national pastime of the United States because of the tradition and popularity associated with the game. Baseball consists of many complicated rules. It also has a very elaborate history. One can not fully understand the game America has grown to love until learning about not only the rules but also the history.
Many people don't understand the point in playing baseball. Why would someone swing a stick, hit a ball, and try to get back to where they started before the ball returns? What pleasure is there in that? Why not participate in a sport like wrestling or track where there is an obvious level of individual improvement and therefore pleasure. Well, I play baseball because of the love I have for the sport, and because of the feeling that overwhelms me every time I walk onto a baseball field. When I walk onto a field I am given the desire to better myself not only as an athlete, but also as a person. The thoughts and feelings I get drive me to work hard towards my goals and to be a better person. The most relevant
The beginning of baseball has had it twist on who started the game and who made the rules to the game. The sport we know as baseball was original name stickball before it became an organized sport. Baseball was a game that many just played as part of their moderate exercise for recreational purpose or time and they used the game to stay in shape. It was usually a middle class white -collar worker who played the game.
The day was perfect to play softball, the bright sun was giving off the heat. I was sitting in the the car moving like crazy as if I was trapped and and was trying to escape. I had the worst butterflies feeling like I was going to throw up my breakfast all over my moms car floor. We pulled in the parking lot in a flash and all you could hear was me breathing heavily. My mom hit the button to the door so i could get out of the car. I got out and the fresh air was really hot. I got very sweaty like we just finished with the state championship game but I believe i was just too nervous.
Some MLB heros are Jackie Robinson, and Babe Ruth, just to name a few! Jackie Robinson was the first african american to play in the MLB, he opened the door for more african americans to play baseball not just in the MLB but for kids that are 12, 13, or even older!
Our team had a strong spirit, and hoped we would be the ones to beam,
Since I was a little girl my dream was to always play the highest level of softball as possible. I wanted to be the best pitcher there ever was. The first position I ever learned to play was also the one that almost ended my softball career. Starting out in little league the pitcher is required to wear a batting helmet while playing the pitching position. This is for ages normally 5 and under, at this age the girls are still using pitching machines or coach pitch. As the older the girls get the rules change, no face mask or helmet has to be worn while pitching. As for me I hated wearing face mask, I always had an excuse to not wear it. Who would've thought that it would one day save my life.
My I-search topic is baseball, not just baseball though specifically if it is worth it to try and make it to the MLB even though it is such a bumpy road that most people don't make it down. Since I could remember I have always had a crazy obsession with baseball whether it’s my experiences playing or other people’s experiences. But I'm not the only one in my family, my older brother Dalton plays college baseball for Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio. For my real world experience I was going down to Ohio with my family and girlfriend for spring break to watch him play when Dalton was challenged with an awful injury. Dalton hit the ball in between the first basemen and the second basemen and the second basemen came running over and slid and stopped the ball then when he went to throw the ball he was rushed and made an
As I am driving near the Southwest University Park in downtown El Paso I can feel the excitement through my veins, I hear the crowd cheering and screaming as the game is about to start. The smell of nachos and popcorn makes me hungry similarly when you pass by food places and the smell is so strong outside, you just want to stop by and eat the entire place. I look at all the people with their black and red Chihuahua’s jerseys as they enter the stadium and I can feel the El Paso spirit again like never before. Today I am getting that great feeling when you know this experience will be once in a lifetime. The brand-new baseball park, and how the people from El Paso area come together to make this a great event is what excites me more to attend in the future.
Have you ever wished play baseball? I am going to tell you the disadvantages and advantages of baseball. This will help you decide if you want to play baseball someday or if your kid does also. I hope with these facts, and my help, you are able to make a choice.
My place of observation was the USM baseball field, known as Towers Field on the Gorham campus where the USM baseball team was taking on Wheaton college at 1pm on Sunday, April 17, 2016. The field can be found behind Philippi Hall at the far end of campus near the softball field and turf field where many other sports are played. The space consists of two dugouts, one field, a press box and a bunch of spectator seating. There’s a patch of grass dividing the baseball and softball fields where many people stand, watch the game and sometimes barbecue. The press box sits at the front, facing the field up behind home plate and the spectator seating is in front of home plate and spans around to the dugouts. The home team can be found on the
Then they pull into the parking lot of the field. Then Brooke runs into the locker room. Brooke gets changed and comes back out all ready to go. She goes and finds a partner to warm up with. She choses Paige. Paige is Brooke's best friend they have been for last 2 years. They warm up their arms and stretch they threw the ball back and forth to each other. The team gets off the field after they all get warmed up they all practice batting and all of that good stuff, so that the other team can get warmed up. Brooke's team is undefeated so far at least they have played everyone in the league and have obviously beat them all. If they win this game they will move on to the championship game. They are home so they get to bat last. Brooke is their best batter home runs almost every time. So obviously she bats 4th so there is a pretty good chance that she can hit a grand slam. The first 3 usually get on base or a walk with this team. The other team is all warmed up so they are now ready to play. Brooke is first basemen, and Paige is pitcher. Paige threw the first pitch.
As I woke up from the average hotel bed that I was laying on, it felt as though the room was 1,000 degrees. The air conditioner in our room was broken and it was also one of the hottest days of the summer. What made it even worse was that we were going to my first ever major league baseball game. It was in Saint Louis, Missouri. The St. Louis Cardinals against the Baltimore Orioles.
It had been an unbelievable season so far, we were going into the championship game of junior league with only two losses. Of course, the only other team with a better record than us was the black team. We gave them their only loss on the second game of the regular season. Now, after defeating the better of the Mosinee teams in the semi finals, my dad, who was also the coach of our blue team, had stopped to watch the rest of the game between black and red.
The day turned very dark when I heard a the horrid crack of cartilage ripped through air like a gunshot. I saw my dad fall to the floor with blood coming out of his rigid nose like a river. Bewildered he sprawls around on the floor trying to nurse his nose and to stop the bleeding. The moment he touches it though he cries out in pain, while his teammates come rushing towards him. “Oh my god what just happened,” my mom says as she runs to the gate.
