I wake up and realize it’s a bright and sunny Saturday. As I casually walk to the kitchen still in my one-piece onesie, I find my 2 friends Wren and Zhee, whom she is the goddess of beauty and I am the goddess of problems. They share a few laughs as I panic and run back to my room to change into something more normal. After I change, I casually walk back to the kitchen where I was before, when I was shocked by my friends appearance. As I chew my rice crispy cereals they begin to brainstorm ideas of how to spend our Saturday together. Then, they mentioned the beach and it immediately caught my attention. I cheerfully wrap up my breakfast, then reply with a quick, “ definitely the beach." They eagerly agreed the beach is the destination to spend quality time with important people on a bright Saturday afternoon. We thought about the memorable times we could have, of course our first intention was to arrive, gradually set our possessions, and lay peacefully on the beautiful sand. Then, we planned to play some beach volleyball and have a delightful dinner at one of their top quality restaurants not far from the beach. So, we informed my parents about our ambition to drive out the beach for the day and the special ideas we had planned ahead. Then, we hurried to the room and put the proper attire needed to have a spectacular day. On the way, we jammed out to some new hip hop songs and sang till we got to the beach. We set our blankets on the soft sand and gently laid
Men, women, and children went to the beach to drop their worries and forget the pressures of everyday living. The beautiful scenery caused immense relaxation. The overall atmosphere of beach was phenomenal. The sky was clearer than crystal, and the clouds above moved across the sky like driftwood in the night. There was a teenage boy sitting in a lime green beach chair. The boy sat there allowing the fiery sun to kiss his skin. Others hid underneath their colorful umbrella from the sun's rays. The crashing waves swept the overzealous toddlers off of their feet. Everyone could hear their joyous laughter that filled the air as they waited for the next salty wave to come. The little kids were architects as the built their mighty forts and fortresses
Reilly appeals to pathos to convince his readers that sports are a powerful influence on everyday life and evoke the feeling of sympathy from his audience . This appeal supports sports journalism is the best form of journalism because of the influence it has on everyday lives. Reilly describes how the relationship between a father and son was healed through a sports team's victory; “I knew a Boston dad and son who hadn’t spoken in five years… But when the Red Sox won it all in 2004, the son came home. They hugged and cried and laughed” (658). The son and father both had cared deeply for this team, following them all season with equal heart and devotion. When the team finally won this meant a lot to both the son and father, and despite their differences, the father and son were able to share their ecstaticness over the win and heal their relationship.
Imagine living a life where majority of your family thinks you’re dead but the government knows you’re alive and is trying to hunt you down. This is exactly how Daniel, known as Day, lives his life in the book Legend, published in 2011 by __________. Throughout this 352 page science fiction book you’re taken on an adventure between the perspectives of two seemingly different people. The author, Mary Lou, writes of June who’s a fifteen year old girl born into wealth and of Day, also fifteen, who comes from the poor sectors. This dystopian novel is full of unexpected turns keeping the reader engaged and never wanting to put the book down.
In the book Legend there are a lot of problems with poverty. For example in the book Day’s family barely have any money to feed them then Eden gets the Plague and it costs even more money to get the antidote. The government does not like poor people in the sectors. Now the government is putting the plague in the meat so they buy the plague so the government gets the money and the poor people lose money. As you can see from this short paragraph the poor people suffer from not having enough money.
Now my other friend Micah shows up and Micah’s dad shows me how to boogie board, and Caleb, Micha, and I boogied boarded all day until it is dark and the parents tell us to come back to the beach house. That was only the first day, too. The next day we went to go out into the ocean again and we hear my Mom’s best friend Brooklyn screaming loudly, because she was stung by a Jellyfish and we all laugh at her because of the big pink bump she has on her arm. Then that night we went to a restaurant that has a gymnastics trampoline machine in the back of it. This is where I tried crab for the first time in my life. I loved it and it is now on my top ten list of favorite foods. The next day we decide to play cup pong and who ever loses has to drink ten half full cups of water in under 10 minutes. Caleb started to drink the water before. So he starts to not feel good because he is drinking the water beforehand and he throws up. He still wins after that, and Micah and I lose so we have to drink ten cups of water and Caleb gets to stop drinking his. The next day we go to run out into the water but we realize that we all have sun burns. So we stay at the pool at our house instead of the ocean. We also watched the
Despite the fact that there is usually the typical Southern California weather, it was a chilly night out on the beach in July. I kicked up sand behind me not caring about anything. I had decided to stay behind after the bonfire we threw for Xander's birthday. My best pal, Jake was the designated driver this night and had to haul home drunk guys. Instead of hitching a ride, I decided to take a walk by myself along the waves. It was a calming time for me to collect my thoughts before senior year of high school started. I was doing my best to absorb the atmosphere around me. The sounds of the tides rising, the waves washing the sand off my feet, and the wind nipping at my red flannel. I was thinking about how I should bring Max ,my dog, here
When I was in the sixth grade my best friend, Makayla, took me surfing for the first time. On August 29th, we went to our favorite beach Pacific City. I fell in love with the ocean, beach, sand between my toes, and the feeling of being a surfer. Surfing all day long with an endless amount of laughs and smiles, we brought our rental surfboards back to the shop were we got them from. It just so happened that the shop closed at 6, but we didn't realize that. Her mom wasn’t feeling comfortable just leaving the surf boards by the shop, so her mom bought a room at the nearest hotel. Makayla and I were very pleased with this. The day was over, our tired bodies and hair smelling of salt, we had a great night of
Day 1: Today was interesting, I got to sit with Henry at Lunch which was awesome! I could be wrong but I think Henry has a crush on me which is probably why he tells me to go away all the time because he can't handle himself around this sexy body. Other than that life pretty sweet! Also wanna
At this point it was halfway through the year of 2006, summer break had just begun. The third grade was a difficult school year, this year I was introduced to the End of Grade state exams. Nonetheless, I passed the third grade along with Ruby passing kindergarten. This year so far was already a fantastic year, and it was only about to become better. My family had discussed plans about this summer, it was going to be the best summer ever. This summer was packed with trips to public swimming pools, visiting our relatives, fishing at my grandparents, and our annual trip to the beach. On this warm, breezy evening in early June, eight-year-old me in this brand-new blue dress with two bright yellow bows with my sister, were in my parent’s bedroom
Dear Diary, It is so nice here. I'm at the beach. I went with my cousin Tracie. We haven't seen each other in a million trillion zillion years! Anyway, everyone was looking at me. I don't even know what I was doing! Aunt Claire drove me in her car. She dropped Tracie and me off at the entrance. Before, we left, Claire and Tracie gave me some looks as I came down the stairs and showed them my bathing suit. I don't know why everyone is so confused about my bathing suit. Anyway, when I got to the beach, I walked with my wicker basket to the little changing room. The day was so beautiful. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and there was a nice breeze. The breeze wasn't too strong, thankfully. Last time I went to the beach, the wind was
I packed my clothes, and my swimsuit for the “beach”. My mom dropped me off at my aunt Tiffany’s house. We packed the car, I stayed the night there
I thought it was going to be an ordinary Saturday afternoon for me. I went to my friend’s place and we did some science project there. It was time to go home and it’s getting late. I arrived at our compound by riding a taxi. I rushed to our place because I wanted to do some other things there.
After a few minutes later I am home, and the beach is still in my thoughts. I rest my surfboard in the garage and place my bags upstairs in my room.I just made it home in time for dinner, I walk over to the dining room table and sit with my two older siblings as my parents prepare the rest of dinner. I can hear the sausages sizzling, as the vast variety of
It was another blazing day down at Hampton Beach with many of my friends and family, where I sat gazing blankly at the restless water as kids shrieked and adults dozed. The day was moving quite quickly and it was already the middle of another hectic afternoon full of tourists. I had noticed a bit earlier that many of my friends had ventured into the ocean water to cool off, but it was like my body had began to become one with the sand. After scurrying around the beach for most of the morning, I was excited for a nap and an opportunity to just escape from things for a little bit. Almost two hours later, I awoke on the beach all alone. I didn’t have any clue what was going on. As far as I remembered, no had told me they were strolling back to the beach house for the day. Even though I was a bit dazed and
It’s 7:30am, I step outside onto my apartment balcony. Cars are zooming down the over crowded streets, staunch buildings towering over me blocking the greeny lush hills far away. People rapidly walking down the sidewalk. In front of my eyes are shimmery silver and navy colours reflecting from the sky high buildings, they stand out more than the joyous light blue sky itself. Sounding in my ears are cars angrily roaring every 5 seconds, people barking at taxis to stop, an earth shaking sound that’s mixed with sound of a hurricane that’s just the aeroplane taking off from the city airport. The mouth watering smell of the local bakery down the road lingers through my nose, I can taste those freshly baked scones in my mouth from here.
