As I pull in the parking lot of Ray Nitschke Field seeing all the Green Bay Packer fans dressed in their green and gold walking on the sidewalks or sitting on the shiny silver bleachers in the practice field. (Imagery) I am thinking of where I am going to set my stuff up and stay there. I am also thinking of the main guys that I want to get autographs from. Getting autographs isn’t an easy process, some days it is the same temperature as it is in Texas during the summer (Simile) for two and a half hours, outside not doing anything besides waiting for the buzzer to blow, allowing the Packer players to come out off the practice field. Since it is a great day to watch a Packers practice, (Prepositional phrase) I get my stuff ready for autographs. I rush out of the car and get set in a spot to sit for a couple hours. I hear people around me saying “Here comes someone on a bike,” or someone asking me “Hey, do you know who number 64 is?” As i’m thinking to myself who I really want to try and get, my heart is pounding of excitement. Around 15 minutes before the practice, everyone has their memorabilia in their hand and is waiting for the players to come out. Finally, you can see someone come down the road very slowly on a bike with their dark green jersey and helmet. All of the kids screaming “here, here.” (Imagery) The first bike goes straight through the gates and off the practice, and everyone gets disappointed because they wouldn’t stop for their kids. Then the next few come
Traveling is one of my family’s favorite things to do. The family has visited numerous places throughout the United States, however, none are as memorable as Atlanta, Georgia. In Atlanta, there are many places to go and sights to see such as: Cola-cola factory, Cabbage Patch Kids Factory, Under Ground Mall, the Zoo, Atlanta Braves Stadium, Six Flags Over Georgia, Stone Mountain Park, and the Atlanta Aquarium, are all in or near the city of Atlanta. The three that we visit on every trip to Atlanta are Six Flags, Stone Mountain, and the Atlanta Aquarium.
Football is a religion in my house, and during football season my parents get a little crazy. Every Sunday, they are decked out in full blue and green gear. Similarly, some people take sports a little too seriously, like Theodore Roosevelt's son, who whined to his father about not getting in the second squad. Responding to his son's obsession with sports, Theodore Roosevelt, the famous president of the United States, tries to convince his son, Ted, that sports shouldn't be his first priority. By empathizing with his son, using shifting tone and using step-by-step reasoning, Roosevelt articulates his point.
IT’s fourth and goal it is Super Bowl 49 they were on our own goal line the knees of the offensive line, and offensive line were shaking,as I feel the sweat running down my hands warming up .The ball is snapped I see their best receiver anquan boldin sprint to the middle of the end zone I sprint to him leaving an man wide open. Russell Wilson reaches back and fires I reach out and snatch it almost dropping it I fall to the ground rolling in excitement my team picking me up.As you can see I am talking about a sport hear and this particular sport is football the sport that fills the night air with emotions on Sunday,Monday, and Thursday dreams our bound to happen.People today that want to be in the spot they were in is out there everyday ,staying after practice knowing that it is almost impossible to make it,knowing that it is a brutal game deciding their career, and not being liked by everyone.
“Tom!”, “Mike!”, “Tedy!” Squashed in a crowd of hundreds of people, being prodded forward by my mom, I was overwhelmed by the noise, the air of excitement, everyone hoping for the same thing, an autograph from a Patriots player. I held out my football and hoped someone would grab it and sign it. One player grabbed it, but I didn’t know who because I was anxiously looking at the ground. Mike Vrabel, the huge linebacker, realized the instant he saw me that I was shy and nervous. He got my attention, looked me in the eye and said, “Can you say, Mr. Vrabel, will you please sign my ball?”He was trying to help me get over my fear and ask for a signature. I wished that it was that easy.
So I actually pick this because I saw my little buddy Syrus do this over easter break. Syrus is a family friend from back home he is 10 years old, and this was the first time he has ever played baseball as an organized sport Syrus was having his try out for little league at our local rex center back home. Syrus was really excited to be trying out for baseball and kinda nervous at the same time. So he keep bugging me to go watch him try out I don’t really know why he wanted me to come.My guess is he knows that I played college sports so I guess I’m like an idol to him so I think me being there gave him some possitive renforment. Also It might of been to show off because when I got there he told all of his friend that I played Division one football player he always does that.
We started walking towards the field before the game starts so we can check out what's there and check out the stadium, the vendors, and the practice fields. There was a lot of people there that were tailgating and dressed up all crazy. There was a few houses with a patio set on the roof and a flag rolled down the side and strobe lights that were the packers symbol. There was a restaurant that was made by Brett Favre, the food was really good and it was really busy but they did’nt take long to make our food.
The author also describes a broader family situation in which everyone gathers to the mother’s house to for games, even her son battling addiction. The mother writes Reilly, “Everyone comes to my house for games… Whatever the joy or drama in our lives, we live and die with the Packers together” (659). The family's’ love for the Packers brings them together for a family night and strengthens their bond. Reilly speaks of these families to appeal to pathos to connect with the audience and trigger similar memories, like eating Thanksgiving dinner during the big game, to further prove his point that sports have an influence on everyday life. The author’s appeals to pathos prompt sympathy and relatability from his audience to prove that sports journalism has a powerful influence on everyday life and is the best because of this
I swallow repeatedly as I force it to stay down as well as begin to breathe slowly. “Come on boys”, I repeat to myself quietly; the referee blows his whistle. “Red 16! Red 16! Down…set…hike!” proclaims the Quarterback and his players jump as the ball moves faster than a hare circumventing a wild dog. The clock winds down rapidly as the player searches steadily for his wide receivers. Our facial expressions as fans show his true feelings as many of us stand with our hands over our mouths, some have our hands on our heads, and the others with hands in the air as they jump desperately. : 30 seconds illuminate off the clock. He pinpoints his target and launches the ball in such a way, it could be mistaken for a bullet. The taste of sweat and apprehension could be savored in the air as the ball flew. The receiver turns as he tip-toes on the out-of-bounds line and finds the ball in the air. He jumps, it falls, but his opponent in Blue hits him as the ball comes down to his hands; he fumbles with it and they disappear as the two bodies fall to the ground. The crowd shouts and exalts in delight, but the referee waves his hands in a way a football fan never wants to see; pass
I approach the front of the magnificent Wrigley Field, in the heart of Lakeview. People are scalping tickets, charging way more than they should. As I dawdle, copious amounts of merchandise are sold within a three block radius of Wrigley Field. I have goosebumps walking into the stadium. As I give my ticket with Anthony Rizzo on the front to the attendant, I hear the beep of the scanner and I know I can enter now. I finally walk up the stairs to where my seats are, take a breath and look around at the monstrous field with the perfectly cut green ivy. The sea of fans wearing blue, white, and red creates community through the stadium. Heading to my seat, I hear the crunch and feel the peanut shells crushing beneath me
I get to pick the seats and they are right above the tunnel by the end zone. We get an autographed game ball and a jersey with all the players names signed on the jersey. We will also be given a tour around the campus.
As I reflect on my life, I can’t imagine my life without sports. Sports is my passion and the one thing that keeps me sane and happy. This assignment has showed me the love I have for sports and how it consumes my whole life. My whole life revolves around it. As I am sitting down writing this paper, I am listening to an interview about a former Florida Atlantic University football player who is now dealing with life after the NFL. His name is Christian Milstead, a 2015 Exercise Science and Health Promotion graduate. After the 2015 NFL draft, Milstead was invited to take part of the Green Bay Packers rookie minicamp. Unfortunately, he wasn’t one of the 300 people who made it on a NFL roster. Milstead, however, life is going great. Of course, he would love to be playing on Sundays, but he is enjoying life as a Personal Trainer Director for one of LA Fitness locations in South Florida.
On November 6th, 1869, the first football game was played in the US, and this day would start a revolution of crazed football players and fans. Every year, people wait for every football season to get out their coolers and foam fingers to cheer on their favorite football team. Whether it be sitting on the sidelines or sitting in the stands in a stadium, spectators are watching grown men running around, tackling each other, and scoring touchdowns. Some of the usual comments you may hear when a player makes a tackle against the other team’s player is "whoa, did you see that?". Or "yeah he took him down hard!", it’s always fun to watch a big guy tackle a little guy, but have you ever sat back and said "I hope he is okay?". Could you imagine getting
For many players, participation in their sports offers an escape from these stresses. They are able to leave behind the responsibilities at home and give it their all out on the field. Athletes feel great levels of euphoria while competing because sports offer them a safe haven from reality. To Ken Skates, a Permian High School alumni, football was “always something to fall back on.” He states, “I get out to the football field, and everything wipes clear in my mind” (Bissinger 329.) Like players, fans also use sports as an escape from their everyday lives. Parents put a lot of effort into their children’s teams. Some, like Dale McDougall in Bissinger’s Friday Night Lights, even dedicate the majority of their time helping to benefit their team. McDougall “had built a life around it, a whole routine - the lasagna dinners, the booster club meetings, the practices in the dappled afternoon light with that sweet breeze blowing across, and of course, those wonderful games, so glorious, so exciting, the power of a million stars shining down on Odessa on a Friday night. She knew it had to end sometime, but she wasn’t ready yet, not in this final minute, not for her, not for her son, not for her town” (Bissinger 326.) McDougall spends weeks making lasagnas and preparing for her son’s games as a
It takes up about two inches on my thick, and short middle finger. It is relatively small, yet has been proven to have great importance and meaning. This dented, imperfect circle fits loosely, and comfortably which allows for the constant usage and handling. It has a unique, and undefined shape that compliments the small circles within the accessory. There is a band of a perfect line of small circles that runs infinite in the exact middle of the accessory. The thirteen small circles sit in the small seats of metal all in unison and order. Sharp, pointed tips that look like the top of a vintage castle, pull the pendants on the outsides of the line, up and back down. If you cut the jewel in half, the sides are
