The Midwest Blacksox
The clean clear glass table giving me the goosebumps, it’s not like I didn’t have them already. The soft cushions made me settle down and keep it real, but the void and serious eyes of my coach made me scared. We have been talking for about 30 long minutes now and the end was near. My heart is rising and it happens. I had finally decided to play competitive baseball and have decided that I am now on the Midwest Blacksox. Flashback It’s about two years ago and It was my first year with my new team but I hadn’t been fully accepted onto the team. As a team we headed up to the great city of Des Moines, Iowa and we had a ginormous baseball tournament. We had done good so far this year winning many tournaments. As I remember heading up there was a long slow journey like when a turtle walks from California to Alaska. We were about to our marvelous destination, when one of my friends had to go to the bathroom and we couldn't pull over so as me and many others in the car were laughing their heads off one of my teammates was going to the bathroom in a gatorade bottle. Exciting and ecstatic me and my baseball team run around the lobby in this beautiful hotel. I could hear the splashing down of the fountains as my we were heading up to our rooms. The next day the games started and it was a blast we went 3-1 in pool play, beating an undefeated team out of Urbandale, Iowa, it felt we just won the lottery. That day they also gave us some gum called Big League Chew. I
Our baseball season has definitely been a rebuilding season, but through the first 3 games of the season, we are 2-1. Over .500. I am really proud of our teams contributions and how be have been hitting the ball, everyone in the lineup is hitting the ball. Our coach has been happy with the improvements and when the coach is happy, the team is happy, and when the team is happy, the fans are happy, and when the fans are happy, the whole team atmosphere is happy. I really am having a fun year, and I will take you through it.
Running, catching, and hitting are some types of actions used in the game of baseball.
It was a nice and sunny day, with birds chirping and the smell of freshly cut grass. I felt the leather on my baseball glove and the delicious taste of cereal. I’m ready to play some baseball.
Many people don't understand the point in playing baseball. Why would someone swing a stick, hit a ball, and try to get back to where they started before the ball returns? What pleasure is there in that? Why not participate in a sport like wrestling or track where there is an obvious level of individual improvement and therefore pleasure. Well, I play baseball because of the love I have for the sport, and because of the feeling that overwhelms me every time I walk onto a baseball field. When I walk onto a field I am given the desire to better myself not only as an athlete, but also as a person. The thoughts and feelings I get drive me to work hard towards my goals and to be a better person. The most relevant
There are many question about how the great game of baseball originally started and how it has grown to become Americas game that so many of us enjoy so much as little kids until till we die. Baseball is one of the only games today where the rules of the game have stayed the same since a guy named Abner Doubleday first evolved the game in 1845. Then he went on to be a Civil War hero shortly after as the game of Baseball became Americas beloved national pastime.
The varsity baseball team had just finished a long day of practicing base running, hitting and fielding. It was very hot out and the sun was making us even more tired. Sweat soaked my shirt and dripped off the brim of my hat. I had been up since 6:30, spent all day at school, and practiced baseball for 2 hours. I was so exhausted that I just wanted to go home, take a shower and go to bed. Then my coach called me over and said “Hey Kevin can you help me with the field?”, The last thing I wanted to do was stay after practice to hose down the field and fix the hole in the pitcher's mound.
The beginning of baseball has had it twist on who started the game and who made the rules to the game. The sport we know as baseball was original name stickball before it became an organized sport. Baseball was a game that many just played as part of their moderate exercise for recreational purpose or time and they used the game to stay in shape. It was usually a middle class white -collar worker who played the game.
There are two styles in baseball fields, the modern ones and the classic ones. At US Cellular Field, they destroyed the best part of the stadium. They changed the classic lollipops. The lollipops are the seven pinwheel-looking decorations popping out of the scoreboard. Ever since I was two and had been going to sox games, the lollipops always entertain me more than the actual baseball.
Batter Up A baseball player touching the bill of a baseball cap and a mother’s nervous laugh at the ballpark tell more about human nature than at first glance. For one hour, I observed a baseball game for high school baseball teams with scouts monitoring every move of the players. Typically, when I think of watching a baseball game, I think of watching an exciting game and cheering on the team; however, I witnessed a completely different atmosphere while taking a closer look. I could have cut the tension with a knife as I witnessed each player trying to gain the attention of the scouts.
I have been playing baseball since I was 7 years old and I have experienced various coaching styles throughout the years. My experience with the Wheatland Athletics Association playing on the Ducks Baseball Travel Team has been a positive experience. The coaches create a healthy environment of support in developing and tweaking a player’s skills with organized and structured practices, as well as, the opportunity to use the batting cages on our own time. The instruction and guidance given during games help motivate to keep a positive attitude when the team is a bit off and not performing to the best of our abilities. On the other, the coaches keep the team level-headed and humble when the momentum is going our way as the lead can disappear as fast as it came. Along with helping prepare an athlete physically, they also encourage a strong mindset. The coaches emphasize the importance of perseverance and endurance in keeping focused when the going gets tough and most importantly, to never give up. They also enforce the importance of school and finding the balance between athletics and schoolwork. This foster a strong work ethic both on and off the field. In addition, finding the balance between athletics and academics is crucial, as they are both
“So, coming into 4th quarter here and we have a huddle called by the Cougars. Here we go setting up we are tied 62 - 62. This could be the make or break moment of each team and who gets to progress into the Championship Playoffs.” Says the announcer.
My relationship with baseball is, at best, counterintuitive, at worst, downright delusional. I treat my home field like a wilderness preserve, painstakingly raking out lumps of dirt in the infield, cleansing the outfield of stray litter, and ardently seeking revenge on opponents sacrilegious enough to smudge our foul lines by firing fastballs up and in. Yet, this beloved field is undeniably a terrible place to play baseball. Even if you are willing to overlook the not-so-slight gradient of the outfield grass and the broken beer bottles that line the dugouts, it is impossible to ignore the sounds of the neighboring metal scrapping facility or the ever present stench of the not-too-far superfund site – the Gowanus Canal. To top it all off, the
Our team had a strong spirit, and hoped we would be the ones to beam,
If you have been looking for sport games and especially for baseball games that means you are a sporty person who loves adventure and occupation. Practicing a sport, no matter what that is... is a very excellent thing as you will train both your body and mind! What do you say? Baseball is a sport that is treated to be of American origin, but, not to disappoint you, it was proved that it admittedly originated in the United Kingdom sometime in the 17-18th century. This really has to be something that you have to be proud of if you are British!
As I stepped out and looked down the third base line, my heart was beating faster and faster, and I could hardly think straight. I stepped back into the box, and took my stance, I was a stiff as a board, and watched another pitch go bye.
