In the backseat of the car, my two best friends by my side. The smell of in-n-out filled our noses and the uneasy feeling sunk into my stomach, heartbeating faster than it has been in a while. The two front windows were rolled down, and the air quickly traveled to the back of the car, air circulating our bodies, winding our hair up in knots. I felt delusional due to staying up late awaiting this moment, but I was so aware. With Madi to my left and Lexi to my right I felt calm, yet anxious. Our favorite band played loud on the radio, we sung along and knew that in a few minutes we would be singing those songs next to the writers of them. I was already longing for them, their music made me feel serene. Like nothing was wrong, the world was a blur and everything else disappeared.
Gulf Shores is the beautiful beach I have ever been to. When I go to Gulf Shores I smell the delicious seafood when I go to the restaurants. When I walked around the beach I smell the nasty seaweed around the sand. When I am at the beach I touch the small, white, pretty seashells and put them in a bucket to keep them. As I walk around the beach, my toes are touching the soft, grained sand between my toes. I can taste the dirty salt water when I am swimming in the ocean. When I go inside The Oyster House I can taste the amazing seafood into my mouth and wanted more food. When I am relaxing at the beach I can hear the waves crashing each other. I can hear people talking, screaming, and playing their loud music. In the evening time, I saw the
A picture of Charcoal quickly came to mind, filling my chest of dense black chard, hint of burning sensation. Feeling like a second hand smoker, terrible for lungs. Then to my right side was a very small playground. There were three iron swing, which had seen some better days, with chipped color turning rust green and straight rust. Sand was spread out crazy, not all neat in a sandbox. Stubs of grass sticking out here and there, it might not have been a perfect playground, but kids don’t care! So deciding to sit on the grass for a bit, which was not as soft as I would think. Pebbles poked and prodded my behind making me have a nice wedgie. Running my fingers through grass, more like spikes than grass. All the children were getting along very well, because one little boy wearing neon Nike shorts and shirt running barefoot. Went up to some girls, he made up a game, which all the girls followed. What a ladies man right!
It was a hot summer and humid day at Oak Park mall we were all sitting on a hard and rough concrete curb as lots of people were walking with their flippety and floppety flip flops and talking.I could sense all the good restruants that people were eating food at.I was holding all the plasticy sacks they felt like they were about to break my fingers because they were so heavy.I could see all the people standing and waiting till we were done.
The smells-funnel cake, animals at the petting zoo- the laughter the screaming. This is what I heard and smelled in my dreams, slammed to the ground of the car when sleeping. Then gravel/ sand/ pebbles tink tink tink. That is what I heard hitting the back of the car. Dust following the back of us chasing us down. My dad is driving and my mom is in the passenger seat. Not a thing in sight suddenly…
My family and I woke up from a great night of rest in the hotel we decided to stay at in Indianapolis, Indiana. All we want to do is get on the road as fast as we can for our final stretch of the drive from Indianapolis, Indiana to our final destination Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The last little bit of a drive from Indianapolis is Myrtle Beach is still six and a half hours away and everyone is just anxious to get there and be in the blazing hot sun lying on the white sand beach next to the ocean.
It was a wind morning on the first day of you can smell the bacon on a fall day with a hint of hickory. It smells so good you can almost taste it. You can feel the hot cocoa going down into your stomach. Kids going to school with their friends and infants wrapped in a snuggly warm blanket. You can feel the cold air on your cheeks and when you are outside you can hear the leaves under your feet and the busy city streets filled with cars lined up to the end of the
‘You’re not the first. People treat the beach like a doss house. Do you often sleep in boats?’
Jessica went to the beach and picked up three shells in order to augment the collection that she already had at home.
(0:00 - 0:10) My pace became lighter as I approached the fenced ledge. Leaning up against it I looked down, as the smooth palm trees waved in the breeze overhead. (0:10 - 0:30) The screech of rollerblades and bikes echoed across the lively boardwalk concrete.
The excitement zooming around my body we hoped in the car and we drove off. When we got there we had to be extremely quiet or we would scare off the
Droplets of sweat poured down my face while the beating sun blocks my view of the 8 lane track. The brush of skin touched me and my arm hair stood up. The bleachers were swarms of silence. My spikes towed the white line. I closed my eyes and the gun went off.
The sunny days of summer have assuredly faded. On my end of the street, leaves will soon change color and line sidewalks of all ethnicities. They will then decay and disintegrate along with discarded cigarette butts, animal fecal matter and a host of other unknown or unidentified entities. As the temperature changes, the weather becomes as refreshing as a lager on a hot day and something about that change is rewarding.
I closed my eyes and sat quietly in the classroom. The slightest scent of cinnamon in the air and I was stuck. It was like turning back the hands of time to the most beautiful Autumn season I could remember. The aroma painted a picture in my mind that was so realistic every one of my senses were triggered.
I sat on my bed, casually waiting for my mom to hurry and take me to school. The air smelled like the fish market from across the street. Cars were honking outside and the babies from upstairs were screaming at the top of their lungs.
