Culture is the specifications and information about a specific group of people, distinct by everything from religion, language, cuisine, life lifestyle and more. Today, we are living in the world that have thousands of cultures, that we have less information about that. China and the United States are the two large countries in the world that they both have cultures which are good recognized through away the world. There are many differences between China and the United States, however, there are many causal factors that form the culture of these two countries.
One clear difference is the Chinese people and society. Even though the greater part of people in China are the Han Chinese, China is homogenous society. On the contrary, the United
3. A comparison between the election of the US and China and some connection between two electoral systems: Due to the difference between the institution of the US and China, the electoral system of these two nations has not only different points but also some similarities as well. According to a brochure published by the League of Women Voters Education Funds, 538 members of the Electoral College meet in their respective states to do their exclusive function: to elect two most important seats of the US Government: the President and the Vice-President of the United States. The methodology of electing the President in the US is through the Electoral College system.
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the definition of culture is “the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or social group”. Every country has its specific culture and there are some obvious cultural universals between China and America. One example of such cultural universal is the directness of American versus the humbleness of the Chinese people. Another example would be the self independence of the young Americans versus the young Chinese who tend to depend on their parents. What I would like to cover are the holidays observed by United States and China, roles played in the family by husband and wife, parenting styles and conflict management.
This year is my forth year that I has been studying in the United State. I’m already used to the U.S. culture and the U.S. living style. So in general, I didn’t experience any culture shock after I got here. If I had any culture shock, it’s probably three years ago. I couldn’t remember any of them. However I do have some thoughts about the differences between the U.S. and China after four years of studying in the United States.
Social challenges the Chinese experienced ranged from how they were treated in their jobs to how they would marry. Along with the occurrence of the coolie trade, the workers are upset at the employers’ abuse and how they cannot regulate the laws within their job. When the Chinese came over, the Americans were discriminating against them and their manner. The way Americans described Chinese revolved about how China’s culture is not “normal” because it is being compared to their American culture and racialized comments. When you move into a new town or city, it is harder to get comfortable when the ones that already resides in area are judgmental and puts down the newer people. The Americans called the Chinese hurtful and unkind words like: “cowardly”, “submissive”, “silly grunts”, and “menaces”. Interracial marriages were shunned and disapproved by many, it created problems in racial and family order. An example of how a Chinese man with a White woman relationship was ruined when Elise Sigel was murdered and Leon Ling was called out for the murder because there was a rumor that they were in an affiliation with one another. From this incident and others, there were laws that were created to separate whites and Asian individuals from getting into any sort of relationship or contact.
Ever looked up the word culture in the dictionary? The amount is crazy big, but they still all mean about the same thing. The definition chosen was culture is the behaviors and beliefs characteristic of a particular social, ethnic, or age group. Basically it is saying it is the way a group of peoples out view. In our nation, our culture is completely different from any other nation, we are tons more progressive, and that is just the way it works. In ancient civilizations they too had their own culture. In comparing and contrasting the Ancient Civilations of the Indus River Valley and the Chinese Dynasties the differences their cultures contain are clear including their Religious views, the way they express themselves artistically and most
China and the United States are the two leading global super powers of the 21st century and it is important to know their differences as well as their similarities concerning location, culture, and languages because they are a main part in trade and their cooperation is essential in order to solve world problems. United States is located in North America, China is located in the Asian continent with more Chinese population. These two countries are on opposite sides, the United States also has about half size of Russia, which has area approximately 1.8 times the size of the U.S. while China is nearly to the West with that fact it's obvious that these countries have different temperature. According to Americans people in the funeral, it is
Culture is a set of ideals and values about life that are widely shared among people and that guide specific behaviors. Differences, as well as similarities, can be seen when comparing world cultures. We communicate with each other, we feed ourselves with food, and when we sleep we often dream. However, we speak different languages, eat different types of foods, and dream different ways. We call these cultural differences. What causes them is not always obvious to the ordinary person (Nancy). I feel culture is what really sets us apart from each other and what makes us unique as individuals and families.
What is culture? Culture is something you and a group of people share that are similar to one another. A culture is a way of life for a group of people and their behaviors, beliefs, values, and symbols that they accept, generally without thinking about them. The language we speak, the art, literature, and the heritage we are proud of, our food, our festivals, and our customs and traditions together form our culture. They
Thus, another difference between the constitution between China and the United States is the structure of each government. In China, the power is held in the hands of people, as the first article of China’s constitution mentions that “All power in the People's Republic of China belongs to the people.”, and in those of elected people in National People's Congress and the local
There are about 195 countries worldwide, yet if one were to be questioned about any one specific culture, they would not be able to answer. As already known, the United States is a country of immigrants. It could be described as “a ‘melting pot’ in which different cultures have contributed their own distinct ‘flavors’ to American culture” (Zimmermann, 2017). One of the most distinct cultures that have entered America would have to be the Chinese culture. China is a unique country in itself yet with so much to learn, it is safe to say that the average person would not know a small fraction of what makes up the Chinese culture. China, as every other country, is unique due to its tourism, customs, family life, and its government.
The United States of America and china have very different political culture. They both have many similarities and differences. The United States of Americas politics are based on equality of all people and equality opportunity. China differs in many ways politically but most importantly in equality. China does have most of the same rights but they are not always followed. Most women do not receive the same opportunities and are not treated the same.
I think one of the culture differences between China and U.S is privacy. Chinese people have a different view of privacy than Americans. They would likely to ask other people’s age, income, marital status, jobs and so on. Even though they barely meet each other, but they will start conversations talking about everything related to their background. However, Americans will think this is rude and annoying. Questions related to those are too much privacy. But in China this seems very normal. So they have a better idea about this person and know much about their background. And a lot of time I think Chinese care about someone’s background.
The variations among culture are startling, yet all people have customs and beliefs. Culture represents a lifestyle of ethics to follow. beliefs are guidance of life and how people should live in society. it is also a form discipline that is either learned or taught in every civilization. Culture also the show's the difference how other countries live as well. It show's how they sleep, eat, greet and treat others. American culture and Indian culture differ in ways of cooking, etiquette and
Culture can be defined in many ways due to the fact that everyone can have their own distinct and traditional beliefs and values. “ Culture is fluid, it is not a static entity which one takes out of the box on occasion. It is with us daily” (Cultural Handout). Someone’s culture is set as the characteristics of the group practices in language, religion, types of food, social traits and habits, and the distinct arts and music. There are a variety of different cultures for example, Western Culture, Eastern Culture, Latin Culture, Middle Eastern Culture, and African Culture. All of these different cultures have their own ideas, values, and individualism, laws that are implied, civil rights, and even technology. In our, “ Culture Handout” culture is defined as the tool of the mind, “ it is an individual’s way seeing and interacting within the world. It encompasses one’s values systems, beliefs, and perceptions of the world around them. Race, socio-economic class gender, sexual orientation, ability, geographic location, age, religion language, etc. all impact the formation of culture, but these various context are not culture” (Cultural Handout).
The United States and China aspire to command the world economy, but their lifestyle and standpoints look like east and west. When comparing the U.S. and China in Hofstede 6 dimensions model, there were four main dimensions that are strikingly distinctive. These dimensions include individualism, power distance, long-term orientation, and indulgence. Recognizing cultural differences is the first step towards understanding each other. The difference between the United States and China are pronounced, and they merit rigorous examination.
