Differences Of Judaism, Christianity And Islam

The three most practiced monotheistic religions- Christianity, Judaism, and Islam- share a belief in one singular God. Each have many similarities -like believing in one God and following sacred texts- as well as differences, such as different holidays and rituals. Although these three religions share similarities, there are more differences between them. Christianity is a religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ through the holy book called the Bible.

Although Christianity, Islam, and Judaism can be understood as three different religions, they all acquire a somewhat similar concept. Everyone is known to have a different interpretation of religion, but the overall meaning can be described as the belief in a superhuman controlling power, especially dealing with a personal God or Gods. A lot of the time, it is common to grow into a religion rather than deciding on your own. If one's parents or guardians believe in a certain religion, the child will most likely have more knowledge over this religion and can decide on whether he accepts it or rejects it. Although there are many arguments and disagreements, there are no right or wrong answers.

Throughout the course we have established that all religions are not one and the same. Major religions such as Judaism, Islam, and Christianity share some similarities. All three religions believe in God, have a Holy book, and each have a central prayer. Judaism has the Shema, Islam has the Shahada, and Christianity has the “Lord’s Prayer”. Ultimately, each prayer is a reaffirmation of faith and the fundamental values of their religion.

Christianity, Judaism, and Islam all have similar origins, development, beliefs, and sacred texts. Contrary to popular belief all three of these religions share more common ground than one would think. The differences are present of course, but the similarities help one understand where all three were derived from and why. All of the religions share the common ground as to the knowledge of Jesus Christ, the belief of monotheism, and “ethical standards required social justice for individuals and for the community” (144). Judaism is the oldest religion out of the three, then falls Christianity, and lastly Islam.

The course Religion 220- Survey of World Religions introduced me to different beliefs, and practices of religions. Of the many religions examined, the three that resonate within my being are: Christianity, Judaism and Islam. I can relate to these religions as all three share several similarities and is in sync with many of my core beliefs. To begin, they all believe in God. These religions have a designated house of worship: for Christians- church or chapel, Islam- mosque, and Judaism- synagogue or temple. They all share the Old Testament and believe in an afterlife. Christianity, Islam, and Judaism are called the Abraham religions. They share common history and traditions, a strong faith that there is one God, a firm belief in revelation and prophets, among other things. However,

ONE SUPREME GOD, where Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are the major religion in the world that is called to be a Monotheistic beliefs. These three religion praises the same one supreme God which they name it Allah Lord of the Worlds, Originator of Heaven and Earth, creator of Dark and Light, and creator of the world and things in it. Before I will state or elaborate the commonalities of three religion let me portray a brief history in each of them.

Christianity, Judaism and Islamic have many difference and similarities between them. The three top things they all have in common is Supreme Being, Person of Jesus Christ, Ethics, and life after death, they all believe that when you die you go to heaven or hell. but even though they all believe in that, they believe in different ways of getting to heaven and how to get to hell. Christianity began in 33 CE and was created out of the religion of Judaism. Christianity was founded on the life, and teaching of Jesus Christ and the people who follow his belief are “Christians”. Judaism began in 7th century BCE and was founded in the Middle East. Many Jews believe that Abraham was seen as the father of the Jews and Moses was the founder of Judaism.

Muhammad Ali, the famous boxer and a renown activist for religious freedom, stated these words: “Rivers, ponds, lakes, and streams- they all have different names, but they all contain water. Just as religions do- they all contain truths.” There are many different religions. Christianity holds about 2.1 billion followers. Islam has about 1.3 billion members, and Judaism has about 14 million followers. That means about 54 percent of people in the world believe one of these three religions.These three religions’ followers are looking for the truth. Since they start out very similar, some people think all those religions are variations of the truth. Judaism, Islam, and Christianity come from the same history; however, they branch out into three different beliefs. Even though these three views received the same founding truth, two of these belief systems fall short of following out the truth handed to them. Only Christianity is the actual truth.

Jews, Christians, and Muslims all believe that there is only one God. In all three religions they believe in the same God but they call him different names such as: Lord, God, Father, or Allah. Even though they have the same God they have different opinions on who the religious figures are. Islam was created because of Christianity which was created because of Judaism. The difference between Judaism and Christianity is that Christians believe Jesus is the messiah and that he was sent by God to save the world unlike Judaism which he is not apart of at all. They have the same Old Testament. The difference between Christianity and Islam is that Jesus was a prophet along with Adam, Abraham, Moses, and Muhammad (peace be upon them all) and that they all came with the same message. The difference between Islam and the others is that after you hear or utter the name of Abraham, Adam, Moses, and/or Muhammad muslims must say “peace be upon them all”. They all have different sacred text, different names for their places of worship,

However, there is a point of disagreement. The Christians believe that God is three persons, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Jews on the other hand believe in God as being just one person. Thus, Judaism insists on the idea of monotheism. They comprehend this idea as though God can not be made up of parts, even if they are somehow united.

Judaism, Islam, and Christianity are all very similar religions but they have very unique characteristics about them that makes them different in their own way. I will tell you what they have similar and then I will tell you shortly how they differ under that similar characteristic. For example, they all believe in “one” founder although they don’t all believe in the “same” founder. Christianity believes in Jesus Christ, Islam believes in Muhammad, and for Judaism believes in Abraham. Each of these religions believe in one god, although their natures of them may be different. For example, Christians believe that their one God exists in three distinct persons which are the father, son, and the Holy Spirit, while Muslims believes in strict monotheism, and the Jews believes in one God which we commonly known as Yahweh. They each have Holy books they reference too, but they are all unique and revealed differently. For Christians, they

First and foremost, Christianity, Islam and Judaism believe their religion as the one and only true religion and they believe that all nonbelievers are condemned. Islam believes that the Christians and Jews are to be respected as people, but have the wrong beliefs and have only partial revelation. Christianity believes that Islam is a false religion and that while Judaism is a true religion, it has incomplete revelation. Judaism believes that both Christianity and Islam are both false interpretations and that are both just extensions of Judaism.
