There are a lot of different types of violence. Today what we deal with is gang violence. Many kids grow up without their fathers this can cause many things to go wrong especially in a household. Another thing wrong with our country is retaliation. Say a loved one dies by gang violence someone close to them would kill them. This would start a ball confusion. And it just keep going on and on. Many kids grow up without a father who’s there to teach them how to be a man. Everyday a kid or teenager joins a gang because they have no male role model. 48% of people own guns for their own safety. There are a lot of risks when taking a firearm into your home. These include accidental shootings, suicide, and domestic violence.
Another type of violence is Mental Abuse. Kids today talk about each other just for the amusement of their friends. Talking down on someone could cause low self esteem. Low self esteem can lead to a lot of things especially suicide. About

Abused children live in constant fear of physical harm from a person who is supposed to care for and protect them. They may feel guilt at loving the abuser or blame themselves for causing the violence.Victims of child abuse may feel that they are bad and deserve the abuse. They usually have poor self-esteem. In addition to physical injuries that may be the result of abuse, child victims may develop eating disorders or sleep disturbances, including nightmares. They may develop speech disorders or developmental lags in their motor skills. Many child victims demonstrate some form of self-destructive behavior. They may develop physical illness such as asthma, ulcers, allergies, or recurring headaches. Also, they often experience irrational and persistent fears or hatreds and demonstrate either passive or aggressive behavioral
A once bright and chatty child may become withdrawn and shy away from adult attention. The child maybe showing signs of aggressive behaviour and/or exhibiting signs of self harm. Abuse can affect a child from infancy through to adolescence and then into adulthood. It can set back a child's physical development, such as a tense mealtime can affect the child’s ability to eat.
Gun violence has been on the rise for many years and there seems to be no solution. People feel more protected with guns in their home, but actually this increases their risk to be in harm’s way of being hurt or killed because of the gun. The majority of gun ownership is owned by civilians “75 percent of the world’s 875 million guns are civilian controlled”(Gun Violence). People also feel more protected when they carry a gun on their person but this also increases their risk of being harmed “Philadelphia study found that the odds of an assault victim being shot were 4.5 times greater if he carried a gun" and that "his odds of being killed were 4.2 times greater when armed”(Gun Violence). If people knew that it increases their risk of being killed then not very many people will carry a gun around.
School shootings, gang violence, drive by shootings, murder, and thousands of acts of violence are committed every day. Members of our society criticize their own people for this violence while they continue to sit back and do nothing about it. These acts of violence have many contributing factors. Violence in our country today is escalating because we don't control the distribution of the guns sold. There are not enough restrictions on guns sold legally. The illegal purchase of guns through the black market is out of control. There is not enough education on the usage and storage of guns.
“There are situations of where the child shuts down and stays in his own world. Studies have shown a link between child abuse and delayed intellectual development. The child loses his ability to adapt to his or her environment leading to poor cognitive development. The child produces feelings of guilt, violation, loss of control and lowered self-esteem sometimes with suicidal tendencies. Common problems include emotional and behavioral problems, poor performance in school, and possible further abuse (Husted).
Guns have been is society for centuries. They have been used for hunting, war, and even safety. However, in the past several years they have begun to take the lives of many innocent victims, often young children. In response to the killings in Newtown, Conn., it has been noted, “If this were a country, the number of children killed by gun violence would violate international law.” (Browne-Marshall) F.B.I. data shows in 2011, 1,668 African American children were killed due to guns. Day by day gun violence is rising and it is not only in ghetto neighborhoods.
recording observations over time, through written records, builds a picture of the young person life and allows us to recognise patterns and changes in their behaviour. Children and young people who have been physically abused may be fearful, submissive and aggressive after the abuse has stopped. The abuse has taught them that hitting is a way to control others and solve problems. The beliefs, attitudes, and behaviours that appear after physical abuse can cause problems with friends, struggling to maintain and keep friendships. They may be distrustful of authority figures at home or school becoming fearful of their carers and those there to help them. They may feel guilty, ashamed, angry, helpless or hostile resulting in anxiety disorders or depression.
When a child experiences emotional abuse, the wounds run skin deep. Kids who suffer repeated trauma feel lonely, scared, worthless and unloved, which is exactly the opposite of how children should feel. Abused children often become broken, hollow and bitter, with mental consequences that last long after the physical wounds have healed. The emotional stress it puts on children is tremendous.
In shootings where at least four people were murdered with firearms, fifty-four percent have been committed by intimate partners or family members (Ana Nogales). The atmosphere in which they, the mass shooters, live in plays a pivotal role in not only their life, but the lives of people they may not even know. Between 1990 and 2005, a gun was used to kill over two-thirds of spouse and ex-spouse homicide victims. When domestic violence and assault involve a firearm, statistics show that the result is twelve times as likely to end in a murder than a dispute using bodily force or other weapons like knives and such (Statistics). Domestic violence has always been a problem for as long as men and women have been together or married. But, in this day and age, these statistics could easily be lessened if boys and girls were taught more about emotions, equality, and respect. Rather than going after the guns themselves, why not go after the people using the guns, or even the reason WHY they use the
The U.S. has a violence problem. We claim to be the leaders of the free world, yet we have some of the worst acts of violence committed in our county by Americans. According to the National Institution of Justice, 467,321 people were victims of a crime committed with a firearm
The topic of gun violence is one the most debatable subjects to the U.S citizen. On one hand people say that we should all carry guns around for protection, while on the other hand people say we should ‘t due to the harm they can cause when used in threatening ways like shootings etc. I believe both arguments are valid, But I think there is one way to please both sides.
In order to understand gun violence in America, we should get an understanding of our history of guns and how they came to into existence and their purpose. The main purpose for guns was to kill, intimidate, and take by force. As far back in time as we can go, in order to survive, whether for food or protection, our ancestors have always had a need for weapons. And as time evolved simple arrowheads for protection and hunting would change into something more lethal. Although guns were first manufactured in china the 1300’s, the first guns came to America around the 1400’s on ships
Even though guns are used for good every day, they are also used for situations that are not good for our safety or the safety of others. Gun violence continues to rise in places where handguns are illegal. In the United Kingdom, where hand guns are illegal there are more violent crimes than here in the United States where handguns are legal. Even though we have less violent crimes, we still have a major problem with violence. The article “Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence” states, “On average, thirty-two Americans are murdered with guns every day and one hundred-forty are treated for a gun assault in an emergency room” (“Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence”). So it shows violent crimes are still a big problem in this country. One of the biggest problems is how much it affects the children of our country. The author also says, “Youth children which live in the most rural U.S. counties are as likely to die from a gunshot as those living in the most urban counties. Rural children die of more gun suicides and unintentional shooting deaths. Urban children die more often of gun homicides” (“Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence”). Reading this fact is very alarming as children should not be around guns as they are very dangerous to them. Overall, guns can cause a lot of deaths, but it shows where they are legal there is less violent crimes.
The purpose of this paper is to review and verify a recent study by Scott H. Decker of the University of Missouri – St. Louis, entitled Collective and Normative Features in Gang Violence (Decker & VanWinkle, 1996). The study will attempt to address why our local increase in gang violence has reached monumental heights causing an increase in gang members appearing your court.
The more people who own guns the more likely the violence is to occur. If we keep restricting guns as a country, people will find a way to still get firearms. The strict laws will only cause more criminals to be aroused to fight back. Criminals are only know for one thing and that is breaking the law. We also have all these children seeing violence and cruelty through social media or even national television.
Being sad or angry: Kids who are being abused might act depressed, or even self harm, like cutting. The most depressed kids may want to commit suicide or attempt suicide. Other kids become bullies and have problems with their anger and other emotions. Also, many have nightmares or trouble sleeping.
