There are many different types of databases, different performances of databases, and different database software functions. Before we get to much into databases lets take a step back and think about what a database really is and how they are applied. A database is a software program arranged to collect hold and process information. There are quite a bit of software programs out there already that can allow you to do all this. However, what makes databases different is that once you enter information in to, the database will operate the information in ways that allow you to analyze the information. Whether we want to accept it not humans rely on databases they could even be called somewhat of a structure for us. In fact databases play such a large role in day to day life that just asking the question “ what would life be like without databases?” could even be the same as asking “what if computers never existed?”. Finally, we move to the last point. People as a whole are always interacting with databases. If you have ever gone to a library and could not find the book or the movie you were looking for, you turn to the computer. When you do this and you look up what you want, you are accessing the libraries database, the entire collection of everything and anything that the library has on site and even whats not there. The next example of how people interact with databases is through scheduling flights. Since we live in a modern age where pretty much everything is done online for the most part its pretty simple to understand this example. In this day and age whenever someone needs to schedule a flight they just go online to the airlines website and look at the available flights to the destination that they would like go. When doing this, you are actually accessing a database of the airlines available flights for that destination. The last example on how people interact with databases is through online shopping. In fact just last week I, myself was looking for a part for my car engine that could only be ordered online. So when I went to the website I saw an
