Digital Imaging Understanding Digital Imaging
What is Digital Images
DIGITAL IMAGES are electronic snapshots taken of a scene or scanned from documents, such as photographs, manuscripts, printed texts, and artwork. The digital image is sampled and mapped as a grid of dots or picture elements (pixels). Each pixel is assigned a total value (black, white, shades of gray or color), which is represented in binary code (zeros and ones). The binary digits ("bits") for each pixel are stored in a sequence by a computer and often reduced to a mathematical analog version for display or printing. http://preservationtutorial.library.cornell.edu/intro/intro-01.html

Vector Graphics can include text, most modern fonts, floor plans, engineering diagrams and spreadsheet charts.
• While Bitmap Graphics format is used for still images, such as scanners, digital cameras and most web pages use Bitmap to create realistic images. The Vector Graphic SVG format is the most popular for Web-based Vector graphics. Vector Graphics also resize better than and use less storage than Bitmap Graphics, Vector Graphics are not usually as realistic as Bitmap Graphics. Each Graphic has its purpose so depending what is needed. If there is a need to scan doc, use a camera to take a photo, etc then one of the Bitmap Graphic format is used. If you want to create a spreadsheet or do floor plans then one of the Vector Graphics format is used.
We will explain 3D graphics, how it is created and what occupations at Amazon and other companies use them.
• 3-D (3- dimensional) is the creation, display and manipulation of objects in the computer in three dimensions. 3D Graphics are based on Vector graphs stored as a set of instructions describing the coordinates for lines and shapes in a 3-dimensional space. The Vectors form a wireframe, which is covered with surface texture and color to create a graphic of a 3-D object that is called rendering.
• Software such as Auto desk, AutoCAD, Open Source, etc. are needed to create 3D graphics. Each of this software, have tools for drawing a

Digital graphics are in their own way an art form, digitally constructed to create phenomenal images. However, you need to have some sort of artistic ability combined with a suitable computer system before you can design the perfect graphic.
Without a grain of doubt, the birth of 3D technology is an important landmark in this journey of technological improvement. Right from advertisements to cinemas, 3D technology is highly popular for offering a better experience to viewers as well as design illustrators. Besides the media sector, this technology is extremely helpful for the marketing, architecture and medical industry.
It gives people power to create anything through knowledge and technology. According to Eddie Krassenstein, a co-founder and director of the largest 3D printing news publications on the web gave background information, on the history of 3D printers. The first 3D printer took 6-8 weeks to print an object, was invented by Charles Hull on March 9, 1983 (Eddie Krassenstein). With the advancement of technology, 3D printers can now printer within hours. As reported by, Robert Green a cadalyst author, a CAD programmer and an expert in CAD management expounds that, Three-dimensional printers are fast and easy to use nowadays. The printers allows people to print within hours instead of waiting weeks for your object to arrive. 3D printers use “plastics, nylon, rubber like materials, etc.” (Green 2). Mashable, a YouTube channel that uploads videos of the latest innovation in technology, global news, entertainment, and more. When we have downloaded the software into the computer and have a “blueprint or downloaded a design from thingiverse, then you can print” (Mashable). Thingiverse is a website where anyone can download free drawings and blueprints to various 3D objects and print them three dimensionally. After all the measurements of the object is correct and the design complete. You can send it or transfer it to the printer to print
Part II of this paper will focus on the process of how 3D printers produce physical objects. This section will explain the computer files that are used in order to turn them into three-dimensional objects. The most noteworthy objects so far have bene the 3D printed guns and gun parts that have been designed by Defense Distributed.
I. (Gain attention and interest) Many of us have encountered 3D technology at one point in our lives such as the red and blue comics usually found at the back of magazines, or a have watched a 3D movie at IMAX. It is with no doubt that, we all find this technology to be a fascinating one.
Hospitals, Doctor offices, and many more use lots of different imaging methods daily to check on different parts of your body. From doing an X-ray to check on your bones, to a CT scan to check on the brain for hemorrhages, tumors, and atrophy. To an MRI is used to image soft tissues of the body like the heart and lungs (Timberlake, Karen p. 340). In this research paper, I will talk about 2 more different imaging methods and come more in depth with X-rays, CT scans, and MRI’s.
Graphics such as cartoons, photographs, drawings or illustrations all add clarity and meaning to a subject making sure the reader gains a verbal and pictorial message.
Photography not only makes people remember good things, but also helps people record every day. According to Wheeler’s “phototruth and photofiction”, Photographs are always manipulated in many ways. For example, computer technology and smart phone can fix the pictures in this new century. First, people can use an app called Photoshop which can fake pictures easily. Photoshop has great features that can add everything into the picture wherever users want. Secondly, people use some softwares to make pictures more beautiful. In addition, Wheeler also gives us example in the Keeneth Brower’s article. He told about faked nature photos, such as New York daily news which showed President Bill Climton
A graphics tablet is used as an alternative to the widely used mouse. It is preferred by digital artists who require the detail that the average mouse cannot provide. This is as the tablet is easier to draw on due to the more natural position used when using it as well as the tablet provides pressure detection which the mouse does not. The graphics tablet costs around £50 for a small size and around £300 for a larger and better quality tablet.
Today, 3D printing technology is used across all industries including entertainment, art, education, real estate and many more. It serves to a wider audience and is rapidly becoming the most promising technology created by the human species. We're highlighting 9 different ways how 3D printing will be changing the world.
Imaging experiments were performed by using standard spin warp gradient echo sequence for MRI, except that each phase encoding step was preceded by an ESR saturation pulse to elicit the Overhauser enhancement. Fig.1 shows the pulse sequence started with the ramping of the B0 field to 7.53 mT for 14N labeled nitroxyl radical, followed by switching on the ESR irradiation. Then, the B0 was ramped up to 14.53 mT before the NMR pulse (617 KHz) and the associated field gradients were turned on. At the beginning or end of the cycle, a conventional (native) NMR signal intensity (with ESR OFF) was measured for computing the enhancement factors. A Hewlett-Packard PC (operating system, LINUX 5.2) was used for data acquisition. The images were reconstructed from the echoes by using standard software, and were stored in DICOM format (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine). MATLAB codes were used for the computation of DNP parameters and curve fitting. Typical scan conditions were as follows, repetition time (TR)/echo time (TE): 2000 ms/25 ms; ESR irradiation time (TESR): 50 ~ 800 ms, in steps of 50 or 100 ms; RF power, 90 W. The reproducibility of the data was confirmed with several experiments. The DNP parameters and enhancement factors were obtained from the data set with good correlation (R2
As the arrival of three dimensional simulations have entered into the construction field, 3D simulations will be the technology that will be replacing blueprints and any other two dimensional documents, which are hand drawn designs that are drawn on to paper (Becker). From this, 3D simulations can have information about real life situation and properties. The first shift to using three dimensional simulations began with CAD. CAD is defined as “Computer Aided Drafting.” CAD was used to creating three dimensional designs and models
In the last decade computer technology has been introduced to photography yet again challenging the meaning
Once you have a 3D model the next step is to prepare it in order to make it 3D printable. Preparing a 3D model to be 3D printed is called slicing. Slicing is dividing a 3D model into hundreds or thousands of horizontal layers. This is done with software. It can sometimes be done within a 3D modeling software application. Certain 3D printers require a certain slicing tool. Once the 3D modelTo begin 3D printing you first have to make a virtual design of the object that you want to create. The virtual design is a CAD (Computer Aided Design) file. A CAD file is created using a 3D modeling application or with a 3D scanner. A 3D scanner is used to make a 3D digital copy of an object.
