Discrimination is when someone has a bias opinion on a specific crowd of people due to their race, sex, religion, or order of rank. This basically goes hand in hand with the phrase judging a book by its cover meaning the person with the negative opinion will not give the other individual a fair chance for the reason being they are being stereotypical and not thinking of the other person’s talent, or character. A modern day example of discrimination would be if a male employer were to compensate a female employee a lower pay due to her gender. At some time in everyone’s life due to today society, we have all been victimized by discrimination. Whether it may be a dirty look from a random person, or the way you dress, talk, and even look.

In today’s time people have notice the spread of violence and constitutional controversy across the United States. People are beginning to feel betrayed by the political leaders we like to call the government. Discrimination is a problem that many people come across in everyday life. Discrimination is an action that denies social participation or human rights to categories of people based on prejudice. The most known types of the discrimination people face today include race, religion and sexual orientation. Discrimination has been around for centuries. According to Webster’s dictionary (2016), Discrimination is the practice of unfairly treating a person or group of people differently from other people or groups of people. Race, gender, age, and sexual orientation can all be reasons as to why individuals experiences discrimination, as well as a person’s national origin, weight, and religion. Discrimination has caused enormous suffering across history. In today’s society discrimination still exists, it is far less prevalent however it remains in certain areas, such as the labor market.

For many years discrimination has been occurring and it doesn't seem to be stopping any time soon . Discrimination really hit it's peak when hitler started killing people for their ethnicity. If you were German during the holocaust you were going to get sent to a concentration camp to die no matter what age you were. Discrimination is when someone gets picked out for something that they can't control such as race , gender , or hair color. It has occurred in these examples: Of Mice and Men , holocaust times , and To Kill a Mockingbird.

Unfortunately due to our past history, discrimination had been among us from since decades. Discrimination and prejudice would probably be among us until the end of the world. Prejudice and discrimination is an action that treats people unfairly because of their membership in a particular social group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs to rather on that individual. It is an unfair treatment to a person, racial group, and minority. It is an action based on prejudice.

I chose discrimination and prejudice for my multicultural paper, because I feel that discrimination and prejudice is the main reason for all the hate in the world. People are discriminated against because of reasons such as race, ethnicity, religion, looks, sex, sexual orientation, class, and other ridiculous reasons. I feel that if discrimination could be eradicated, then this world would be a peaceful place to live. Discrimination has been plaguing this world since the beginning of time. I am sure there was prejudice as Homo sapiens started interbreeding with Neanderthals. I could picture Homo sapiens parents telling their children to stay

Discrimination is something that happens everyday, based on someone’s race, sexuality, gender identity, appearance, etc. This is something that has been happening since the beginning of time; and will most likely not stop any time soon. Martin Luther King made a huge difference within the racial section of America; and President Obama made a controversial decision to make same-sex marriage legal in all 50 states. Even though great people have taken huge strides to make a difference in the world, equality is still something that is not fully in place. I see it every day, and at my job, I am expected to treat every customer with the same amount of respect I would treat anyone else.

Discrimination is overt behaviour toward another person that is different from the individual's usual behaviour toward others. It is differential treatment towards others. In our society, discrimination may take place in various forms such as in education, voting, employment, group membership, legal, occupational, political and social. It has been seen as unfair treatment or injurious distinctions, especially unfair treatment. The dominant group treats members of the minority group differently because of a variety of fears, fear of intermarriage, fear of job competition, fear of loss of political power and special privileges, fear of decline of their own social status should they associate with them.
