What are the causes of discrimination? Discrimination covers any scenario where an individual or company treats a person or group of people unfairly due to a particular characteristic. The most commonly referred to typesof discrimination include prejudicial behavior that is based on skin color, gender, disability, religion or sexual orientation. However, discrimination can be based on any attribute that is viewed as marking the victim out as being different. For example, discrimination might be on the basis of age, weight, height, nationality, or any number of attributes. In order to tackle this hurtful and damaging behavior, it is important to identify the causes of discrimination. Discrimination is often based on ignorance, fear and stereotypical viewpoints. For example, religious and/or sectarian discrimination is often fuelled by people living and working in separate communities and therefore not having ample opportunity to interact with people from other groups. Stereotyping is the generalization about others, which leads to a predictable characteristic of other people. Stereotypes only represent one aspect of an individual that is usually the negative aspect. Stereotypes also cause an individual to make a harsh statement toward individuals without recognizing the damage those words can cause. Example someone who accuses Middle Eastern men to be terrorists has made a negative stereotype against these people, when every Middle Eastern men are not terrorists. Discrimination is the ill treatment or denying of some ones rights because of his or her race, creed, color, sexual orientation, disability, and ethnic background. Fiske, (2010) “discrimination entails acting on the basis of one’s stereotypes, and prejudices denying, equality of treatment that people wish to have.” Discrimination wears many faces and can take on different forms that can be overt and subtle. This behavior can be very hurtful to various groups, organizations, and individuals. Example A person is denied housing because he is an openly gay individual.
Discrimination can be defined as the differential treatment or judgment against a group such as class status, nationality, religion, etc. There are several reasons why people may think people of color are "bad" and get discriminated against more then those who are White or Asian. Maybe it is because for every three colored men at least one will serve a prison sentence. Many studies target those with colored skin because they were the first kind of people to go to a jail. Continuing, there are several kind different forms of discrimination (institutionalized, systematic, contextual, and individual acts of discrimination). First, the institutionalized information is based on the criminal record or behavior. Second, the systematic is discrimination in the criminal justice system. Third, the contextual information is based on particular crimes. Lastly, individual acts of discrimination is based the acts of the individual. Discrimination is revealed to the individual in many different aspects and treatment received based on group affiliation such as nationality, classes status, and much more. For example, in law enforcement they see a woman down a street known where prostitutes are. What the police officer does not know if the woman is coming from a bar, and she is walking home. The police officer pulls over, stops her, and arrests

In conclusion discrimination happens to all of
Discrimination involves race, gender, religion, and ability. Race is one type of discrimination in the United States. According to a scholarly from Frederick community college library database the article “ Race and ethnicity” states that Racism persists in the United States, according to recent polls, even as the country is projected to become a majority-minority country within 30 years. Individual discrimination refers to discrimination by one person against another.
Are there differences between discriminating on the basis of race or ethnicity and discriminating on the basis of gender, sexual orientation, or disability? What might be some legitimate reasons for treating people differently?
Discrimination is not always the simple acting out of prejudice and is it sometimes the result of self-interest, a decision that protects the interests of the majority group. For example, legally restricting immigration for economic reasons. It also could be the result of social conformity (giving in to outside pressure despite personal values and views), and sanctioning of behavior (justifying behavior by giving valid reasons). (Parrillo 98)

Further, discrimination occurs when a person is excluded from participation, or explicitly targeted for participation, or is segregated or provided separate treatment or is denied benefits or provided different benefits or the benefits are provided in a different manner than from others based on a person’s race, color or national origin, age, religion, disability, sexual orientation or political beliefs.
Discrimination is a part of human nature. It is an issue that everyone has concerns about; whether it be religion, gender, and race. To judge a person on how they look, how they act, or even how they smell is discrimination. Therefore; many people are discriminated against based on their religion, gender, and race.
This paper will provide three examples of racial discrimination based on my experience or acts of racial discrimination I have witnessed. I will begin with racial discrimination within my family, followed by
The word discrimination usually brings images to mind of things such as the “rich” looking down upon homeless/poor people. Or images of a certain majority group abashing a minority group. Yet it can be so much more simple than that. A quick glance and judgement that the big guy in the leather coat with tattoos is bad news is discrimination as well. Discrimination occurs whether people mean for it to happen or not, and when it does happen people can get hurt by what others have said. We want
Discrimination. We all hear different stories about it. Some of us may have even already experienced it. But what does discrimination really mean? Who are the people affected by it? According to Merriam Webster, discrimination is the practice of unfairly treating a person or group of people differently from other people or groups of people. Many people think discrimination is all about race and class, but many forget that it is about gender too. Now, do not just think about it as sex, being male or a female depending on biological features in the human body. Gender, according to the World Health Organization, “refers to the socially constructed roles, behaviors, activities, and attributes that a society considers appropriate for men and women.”
According to social affairs of humans and humans, discrimination is described as the treatment or consideration of someone or a group of people in favor or against them based on the class, group or category that a person/group is assumed to be based from rather than the individuals’ traits (Becker, 2010). Discrimination includes restricting people of a certain group from various opportunities and privileges that are readily available to other people, thus leading to exclusion of individuals based on the irrational making of decisions. Such discriminatory practices exist in most parts of the world and should be condemned with the utmost level of condemnation. Various types of discrimination have been witnessed: Age discrimination, Religious
Discrimination can be in four different forms. According to the textbook, it can be in the form of intentional, where you are fully conscious and deliberately discriminate. Also, there is the opposite, unintentional discrimination, where you are “not consciously or deliberately sought, but is brought about by stereotypes or as an unintended outcome”. Individual discrimination occurs with one or few individuals acting on their own. Institutional discrimination is a “result of the actions of all or numerous people in an institutional and of their routine processes and policies”. In a work environment when discrimination occurs, it can be from an intentional and unintentional point of view. When working in an environment it is valuable to understand and reason before you have a conversation, as the listener may grasp it in a different way, therefore they can feel discriminated.
