“Diversity is about all of us.” Diversity is what joins us all together as a whole. It is what makes up the world. It can have a positive effect on a group. You can learn more about cultures if there’s more diversity. For example, there is a girl in my school that move here from Africa not too long ago. She has done powerpoints to show us about her country and her customs. What they eat, traditions and how they dress. Without diversity we probably would not be able to learn about other cultures and how people our age have experienced their lives in different places. Although you can also learn to have respect from different types of people. Growing up in a diverse group, you can learn to not judge people who are not like you. But let's say
Diversity means that people are different and varied. It means that a lot of people
The point is, we are all different. Yet the differences that we have between us can be used to strengthen society as we know it. Diversity enables us to have the opportunity to learn, develop, and understand different ways of living, and experience our lives to the fullest. Without diversity, we are closed or boarded off in our own worlds. But with it, we expand our knowledge and we are no longer ignorant. When you are aware of the differences and embrace them, then you have taken the blind fold off to living differently and you are a better person for it. The key is exposure and using what you learned to increase more tolerance and decrease things such as racism.
Diversity is to value that we are all unique and yet similar. We have different needs, interests, learning styles, language and personality etc.

Diversity therefore consists of visible and non-visible factors which include personal characteristics such as backgrounds culture, by recognising and understanding our individual differences and embracing them we can create a productive environment in which everybody feels valued.
We all have a sense of cultural identity, which is clearly defined by our values, behaviours and beliefs that develop from childhood. A classroom literally or as a metaphor, filled with students from different backgrounds is very beneficial as it helps learners understand and appreciate cultural differences, as they develop responsiveness of their cultural beliefs.
Diversity teaches us to accept. I have lived in a very diverse community for much of my life. Highland Park consists of a lot of white people, but also there are a lot of Mexican immigrants. In the high school the races tend to separate themselves, but we also teach each other about our cultures and we learn a lot from each other. Many people have experienced diversity. They learn so much and become more understanding and accepting of other people because they have seen much of their
Throughout the world social problems such as illiterate, elderly, handicapped, minority groups, and poverty have been the biggest part in our society for many years. Some of our social problems had died off, meanwhile, they’re still many problem that we are still facing as a society. One of the major social problem we face is people being illiterate. Being illiterate is meaning a person can not read nor write, and it can also mean that a person is grammatically incorrect. There is as much as 23% of the adult population that are ignorant to basic skills of the 4th grade level. In the U.S. the ethnic group that is most affected by not being able to read or write is
You made some very valid point in your discussion. This country was founded on social and economic diversity in which it does tend to categorize everyone into a certain group to feel a sense of validation of whom they believe they are or should be. European Americans did this categorization as a means to ensure that society will embrace them as the superior race and blacks and Indians as the inferior race. This segregation of humanity was denoted as “high” and “lower” class groups that became interconnected within the social and racial institution. Additionally, these distinctions such as skin color differences in America today are thought to explain perceived differences in intellectual, physical and artistic temperaments and to justify the
Diversity can refer to many things all over the world. Television still doesn’t completely represent the diversity in America. Roughly three-quarters of film actors were white in 2014. There was only 12.5% African American, 5.3% Asian, and 4.9% Hispanic actors while there was 73.1% white actors. Studies also show the majority of actors are male. According to the annual 100 top grossing films 2007-2014 only 30.2% of speaking or named characters were women, while 73.1% were male whites.
The United States is a nation full of immense ethnic and racial diversity. Ever since its formation, social injustices have contradicted the values that its Constitution upholds. Anyone who studies U.S. history will soon find that the rights of many groups of people were not won without extreme struggle. The first blacks taken to the U.S. saw their status change from supposedly second-class slaves to bona fide citizens of American society, although the change was slow and wrought with trauma. All immigrants and foreigners (aside from those “elite” founded the nation), experienced a painful transition as they tried to mesh themselves into “popular society.” Asian Americans are just one of the many groups which have gone through this painful
I believe that "Diversity" plays important roles in our lives. Without diversity, we cannot widen our field of view. Diversity helps us to open up our eyes and our world. From reading the essay "How diversity makes us smarter", written by Katherine W Phillips, I learned that there are some negative effects brought up by the social diversity where dialog of inclusion is advanced, but mostly diversity is something that has positive effect in our society and even individual. I could also reflect and make connection with my experience of moving from non diverse community to diverse community.
To conclude diversity is a beautiful and important concept that strengthen our society by allowing us to have different personalities, opinions and experiences that makes us the people we are, providing us opportunities to grow and learn and creating bonds between
