Diving started off great today, I had just had a cup of coffee so I was energized and ready to go. I made sure I got all my stretches in before starting. Some one new came into practice today so we met her and showed her our workout. We had a long list of stuff to do today, so it took a while. We worked on handstands first. My friend decided to do his hand stands facing the wall; Mine, opposite. After finishing up some squats, we moved over to box jumps. We placed a giant mat between us and started jumping up and down on it to get the workout on our legs. I wasn't being carful and decided to do a flip, and I forgot that there was a wall in front of me and I jammed my finger into the wall. This surely did not help my situation for maybe doing
I was so excited that I didn’t think through the consequences. I knew that everything was going to change, but I was ready for it. I went to practice every day so excited. I was ready. After about 2 to 3 weeks I had my first meet coming up. It was a Friday and my meet was on Monday. I decided I needed one more practice so I went to open gym, I thought it was great idea plus I was super excited to try out my new grips. Once I got to the gym I spent a little time on floor and beam, but then I headed straight for the bars. I started with some kips to get used to my new grips and then headed to the high bar for a fly away. A fly away is a simple dismount that consists of letting go of the bar at exactly the right time and then doing a front layout. I got up there and after a few tap swings, a few more than necessary but used to get my confidence up, I let go of the bar. It all went so fast I don’t exactly what happened. I let go of the bar too early because of my new grips that were not broken in all the way. I under flipped and landed flat on the panel mat beneath me. Panic shot through my body as I struggled to find the air that normally we breathe. I couldn’t breathe. What is happening? My. Chest. I felt pain shooting through my chest and back. I could barely walk. This isn’t right. I walked out of the gym with my mom to talk to her. I reassured myself and walked back in. I moved off of the bars,
I started lifeguarding because it was a natural transition from being a year round competitive swimmer since I was nine years old. I thought it would be a great full time summer job my sophomore year being that most people under the age of 16 find it challenging to get a part time job.
At the gym this morning I did the following workout: 5 minutes of skipping followed by 3 rounds of 15 single leg step-ups with a knee raise, 10 russian twist medicine ball throws,
Being on my school’s diving team has had its ups and downs but one the biggest setbacks I went through while on the team was my freshman year when I got a concussion. I was doing a simple reverse dive I under rotated enough that when I hit the water, it pushed my head into my knee. I am unsure whether or not I blacked out but all I remembered was climbing out of the pool dizzy and confused. I went to a doctor and found out I had a concussion. Having a concussion was a big setback in itself, but what made it the worst was that the conference meet was coming up in about a week. I had to rest for the remainder of the week and was cleared to practice again the next Monday. Because of the whole situation I felt like quitting all together. I only had three days of practice before the conference meet and had nothing prepared. I did not think it would be possible for me to practice all eleven of my dives that I needed to do at the meet in time. Then I remembered my goal for the season: to earn my varsity letter. I had not achieved my goal yet and the conference meet was my last chance to do so. I was not about to
The National Crew is quite demanding from what I have heard from friend who have been apart of the program. You need to be able to withstand several weeks of 56 hour work weeks, with unideal conditions, in a wide variety of difficult environments.
On Wednesday, I got to class ten minutes early so I decided to stretch by myself. When Ms. Gee got to class then we started with the actual stretches, but the good thing that my muscles weren’t to tense due to that I had ten minutes stretching. After doing our piques Ms. Gee told us to try our single, double, or triple pirouettes, and I did the singles but at the end I tried the doubles. I got dizzy super-fast for the reason that I forgot to spot as I was doing the pirouettes. After this my classmates and I tried the tilt jumps to the front and then as we turn back we also did the tilt jump. I was waiting for this part of the dance class to arrive
I completed my floor routine with ease! It showcased my best event and I nailed it; however, bars really created the pressure. My coach for the event was Coach Alex, and the determination I felt to make him proud overwhelmed me. I loved all my coaches, but he stood out as someone very special. I knew I would miss his constant nagging at me. I approached the springboard, enveloped with chalk and trembling from head to toe. I hit the springboard with such power it jumped backwards. My hands felt like fire as I spun around the bars. My hands released the low bar and after an eternity, I felt the bar again, but by that time I grasped onto the high bar. Before I knew it, I had finished my last bar routine with a successful
At the point when your toilet gets obstructed you need to cure the circumstance as quick as possible. While you can simply decide on calling a handyman, you might need to hold up a couple of minutes and check whether you can't unclog that toilet yourself and spare yourself some cash all the while.
Once, when I was a little girl, my family and I decided to take a trip to some cabins in North Little Rock. While we were staying at the cabins, we had forgotten to bring our DVD player so we had to watch whatever channels the cabin t.v. had. (It didn’t have many). After a minute of flipping, we found the Olympics. At first, it was boring. Disc throws, pole vaulting, running, it was all boring. Then, the performances came on (Diving and Gymnastics). The diving was neat. All these professional divers were jumping off these 20 meters high diving boards, doing flips and spins in the air then they’d hit the water. It was amazing, but then, came the gymnastics. When they came on, I was wowed. All the spins, turns, twirls, and lands.
In early June of 2015 I went to the first summer practice at my gymnastics gym. I was so excited because they were moving me up. As we started to do basics a coach that usually teaches technique told me she wanted to spot my back handspring. Back then I was not that familiar or good at the skill so I agreed. She told me to not jump to hard and that she was going to give me a heavy spot. She told me that I shouldn’t even use my power. Once I was ready and the coach gave me the OK to go I slowly jumped back like she told me. Suddenly she turned to talk to another coach. My head slammed against the hard floor. I quickly got up and felt a bit dizzy but continued, this time completing the skill. After practice I explained to my mom what happened and that I was ok. She told me that If I felt anything weird to tell her. I went to bed feeling fine.
A practiced dive lets me cut through the water easily for a couple seconds I am gliding and listening to NSYNC (thanks to the new underwater speakers). The water will soon crash in my ears and I will actually have to use my body and brain to keep moving. The water distends before I break the surface with my arm and pointed hand. I finish the two-hundred free warm-up quickly alongside my friend and soon after taking a long drink of water, she puts all her weight on my
There are many aspects and components that make up the sport performance of Olympic diving. To become an excellent diver, one must integrate the six components of a Sports Performance Program. The six training components include, flexibility, cardiorespiratory, core, balance, plyometric, and speed, agility, and quickness. This paper will be covering three of the six components, which include: balance, plyometric, and speed, agility, and quickness.
The focus of this research paper is to analyze the information, unique characteristics, and history regarding the subculture of scuba divers. Scuba divers get to explore new, exciting, and breathtaking regions in the ocean that many people never get to experience in their whole lives. Scuba divers hold important roles in society because of the discoveries they make on a daily basis. They provide much needed research that is important in the scientific community regarding newly discovered marine species. Scuba divers get the opportunity to explore exceptionally beautiful ocean features that include shipwrecks, coral reefs, and other stunning tropical ocean regions. Many people find scuba diving an enjoyable leisure activity to be involved
The next part of the training turned out to be the toughest. We were required to dive ten feet to the bottom of the pool and retrieve a ten pound weight. Once the weight was brought to the surface we were supposed to tread water for two minutes while keeping the weight above the water line. This appeared to be simple so I dived in, expecting an easy time. I had no trouble getting the weight to the surface and proceeded to tread water with a feeling of undoubtable success. But once again my anti-floating physical quality began to take effect. At one minute and thirty seconds I began to sink and within the next fifteen seconds my head was submerged and I was fighting for air. The water from the pool began flowing into my mouth with each desperate grasp for air; it felt as if an ocean were draining into my body. I remember hearing from under the water the instructor's muffled voice counting down the last ten seconds of the exercise. When it was all over I slowly made my way back to the pool's edge where I was informed by the two young girls that they had no difficulty
