Living under a new generation and time, marriage is no longer the ideal goal of many millennials and singles. Involving trends, the media, and the stigma related to marriage creates emotional, financial, and mental pressure- happiness is not guaranteed. Looking in search of blissful companionship, relationships dwindle on the perception of perfection. In return, the reality of marriage does not meet the expectations of one partner in the relationship. However, partners involved in divorce disregard the emotional status and well-being of the children involved and how the divorce plays a major role in the child's overall development to adulthood. According to Amato, (2012) divorce leads to disruptions in the parent-child relationship, continuing discord between former spouses, loss of emotional support, economic hardship, and an increase in the number of other negative life events. In regards to marital longevity, co-parenting is the norm and children are becoming more concerned about their position and role involving the separation. The impact of divorce adolescents must psychologically adjust to the changes of separation from both parents. Divorces affect children in accordance with their stage development. Holding the least impact on preschool children, for very many reasons due to their psychological thinking and inability to understand what's being experienced during the divorce; infants hold no mental association.
